Rep Power: 169 | Re: who has medicated while pregnant? My mom did w/me all thru the whole deal except the last 3 or so weeks she stopped. My best friend has 3 kids. As an experiment they did with 2 and not with the other, The 2 they DID smoke with (no shit here) learned quicker, got along with other kids better and tended to LIKE school a lot more. In Jamaica they've done tests. Smoking in excess of (10) TEN 4-5g spliffs a day can *begin* to cause fetal developmental damage (no shit..TEN spliffs!) but it could mostly be attriubuted to O2 restriction and not directly related to THC intake... who fargin knows. M3 P.S. Keep in mind, CPS DOES test new mothers for drug useage. You test dirty @ delivery, good luck seeing that kid again (or at least for a looonnng time..and yah its a SUPERVISED test...) M3 suggests all expecting moms who DO smoke to STOP at least (AT LEAST) 60 days before delivery.... Or BEST YET DONT SMOKE AT ALL WHILE EXPECTING>>>>>!! Hey girl,I asked my wife and she said she did --- We have 3 healthy, happy teens, straight A students and I never noticed any problems mental or physical. She birthed them all naturally with no complications. She quit smoking cigs though. No ALCOHOL!!! personally I kinda wanted her to quit everything--- But the lady gets what she wants! |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: who has medicated while pregnant? I medicated with my two children, however, I did stop smoking cigarettes, both of my children are exceptionally smart and healthy. My 12 year old has been in the AT&G (Academically Talented and Gifted) program in our school district since the 1st grade and continues to keep her honors status at the top of the class! My son is 5 and will be starting kindergarten in the fall, he has a very clear understanding of the Alphabet and can read basic childrens books, write words by sounding them out! I took care of my nutritional intake, and medicated daily. Hope this was helpful. Regards, Willowbay |

Rep Power: 450280 | Re: who has medicated while pregnant? Hmmmmm, Missy, are you "just" asking or . . . . I don't have any stats on this subject, but I would think in moderation, it should be okay. It's all the Rx pharms you need to be careful with. And for sure 60 days prior to delivery, make sure to stop, because of the testing. Hugs, BB . |

Rep Power: 15 | Re: who has medicated while pregnant? I don't know about this one but here are some things I do know. I know that mothers who eat sweets, the kids end up with a sweet tooth.. When a mother eats sour stuff, the child turns to a sour krout... I do know that mothers who drink when pregnant... kids turn into alcoholics... I do know that mothers who smokes them rocks... well... I don't know abot medicating MMJ while pregnant but I personally wouldn't expose my child to that. |

Rep Power: 500 | Re: who has medicated while pregnant? i know somebody w/ 3 kids... no medicating during the first two pregnancies... like somebody else said... the one that had thc in the womb (uh... how else do i put it) is a lot nicer than the other two and gets along well with everyone. She also doesn't seem to have any impairments that might lead me to believe that mmj had a negative affect on her. I think she stopped smoking during the last trimester. As a guy, this is the only experience i have w/ this... hope it's at least a little bit informative. |

Rep Power: 169 | Re: who has medicated while pregnant? Im of the opinion that say 10 or so total times medicating during a pregnancy wont do anything negative. I think if you smoke 1/8 a day everyday, it will for sure. I think 1 or 2 puffs to ease hellish morning sickness shouldn't hurt a thing. Doing 20 bong rips and partying with a group of pals is another story. All the moms I know who DID smoke ALL ended up with kids who were real smart, real laid back and just polite good kids.... One kid I know graduated early after skipping a grade in elementary so she was like 15 1/2 with a diploma, and she also smoked during the last year of her school. Then she went on to standford and I know she graduated with awards and stuff. Her parents are hippies all the way, they have her diploma copies in pot-leaf ringed picture frames and shit, lol its a great true story thats positive toward our movement.... I say use your own judgement, just dont make your 3yr old hit it while you record it and show it on national TV>.... LOL M3 |

My Mother smoked and drank while she was pregnant with me and my two older brothers. None of us smoke, none of us drink.

Rep Power: 26 | Re: who has medicated while pregnant? My son's mom medicated just a little bit at the begining of her preg. She stayed very active as well and had a rediculously easy labor... Easy for me to say. My son is an extremely healthy, athletic and intelligent young man who has been a A-B Honors Program student his entire schooling and has more major accomplishments than most adults that I know. He wasn't born with any defects or handicaps and has always been in excellent physical condition. I could go on and on w/ a bragging post that displays how a little MJ didn't harm him. I know...You're all wondering if I'm sure that's my kid. I'm not trying to tell moms to go smoke all throughout their preg. though 'cause I actually can believe putting any foreign body into another could cause complications. I just haven't read enough medical research on that subject to form a definitive opinion yet. |

| Re: who has medicated while pregnant? My wife and I never had children together. She had two sons from a previous marriage she medicated while pregnant they had no adverse side effects. She was a great mom. If I had to deal with that kind of pain and misery of childbirth I'd smoke for certain. |

| Re: who has medicated while pregnant? This is a great thread for me. I dont have any children yet and I am not pregnant, but this is a question I am always thinking about for when the time comes. It is nice to hear what other people have experience, be it bad or good, although so far, seems only good things. Question - Does CPS come out for every child birth? I have a few friends who just had babies and I didnt hear anything like this, but maybe they just didnt mention it? That doesnt happen in every state, does it here? |

| Re: who has medicated while pregnant? Ahhh ok, cause I had never heard of anyone coming in and testing you without having some reason to! I can see myself being the one screaming for more epideral. I'm thinking that instead of going through the pain of childbirth, i can just borrow one of Missys... although this time, she gets them back when they need to make a poopy!!! |

When my daughter was born, my ex-wife who was very calm till this time, sat up, grabbed my face and dug in her nails and screamed into my face: "You GOD DAMMED SON OF A BITCH, YOU DID THIS TO ME!" On CPS: CPS does not normally "attend" births. They can take children into protective custody 72 hours after the birth, if the Doctor deems the child to be a victim of abuse due to use of drugs. They do however obtain court orders for a Tox-Screen at the birth of a child who's mother has an ongoing CPS case in which the unborn child has been determined to have been abused by the mother's inability to refrain from "hard" drugs and is on probation. If the newborn tests positive, they can remove the child from the parents custody till a "parental fitness" hearing is held. It's pretty rare. And it's for the safety of the child. If you can't stop smoking crack long enough to give birth, it's possible that you are unfit at the present time. Stay clean, keep to a program and it's likely you will have custody again. Does Cannabis hurt unborn children? At this time no one knows. The only study done on this was pretty flawed as it used untrained Jamaican midwifes to asses the newborns and their "functionality". The same group tried last year to do the same study again using medical volunteers but the Jamaican Govt. wouldn't (couldn't) allow the funding. Till then..?
