Rep Power: 4230 | Re: PMS and Menopause Support Thread I got involved in a furniture painting project today. It was cathartic! I wanted to create a big mess and jump on furniture like Jackson Pollock but I don't have a shrill harpy of a wife to clean up after me, so I didn't :( I would do some very unsavory things for a burrito right now. check at a health food store, I think there are liquid alternatives for calcium available... the book says that a daily multiple vitamin & mineral supplement that contains copper, iron, manganese, calcim/magnesium, & a good amount of B complex. along with a complete calcium/magnesium supplement may indeed be enough to end insomnia. if not, they do have the amino acid tryptophan in supplement form.... it says alot, but I hope that helps (((HUGS))) I love that book, it has helped so much over the years, I highly recommend Natural remedy book for women by Diane Stein Last edited by MariaJuanita; 07-15-2007 at 10:13 PM..

I LOVE YOU!!! This is like finding a treasure, my mom grew up in a time when drs thought PMS was PSYCHOSOMATIC...(I'll show you psycho...in about 21 days...lol) I FAINT, have complete GASTROINTESTINAL FAILURE... and all my doc wants to do is give me the pill (she). Won't do it...something with all this hormone therapy is just not right. And I have been on the pill. I will not chemically castrate myself. (I would have used the gyno-term for castrate if I knew it...lol...something about the pill gives me the willies.) I liken my pain to a sledge hammer to the lower back, and a bear trap on my garden. I think I may have endometriosis - living with it my whole life and trying to get my dr to come with my ultrasound results...(HMO). I have just started to wean myself off anti-inflams (yikes) and it's not easy, but I am finding ways to cope and this type of thread is EXACTLY what I needed. (Just imagine me hugging the HELL out of you)...Thanks! U R AN

Rep Power: 57742 | Re: PMS and Menopause Support Thread i've been driven crazy (and my close friends as well--we are all in our mid 40's) by the arrival of perimenopausal symptoms. each of us is experiencing various hormonally related problems. All-in-all it sucks. mmj has been very helpful w/ most of mood/pain related symptoms for me. i'm not a big fan of pharmaceuticals and would prefer to not have to go that route unless it is absolutely necessary. has anybody out there tried bio-identical hormone replacement? if so, how is that working? a couple of my friends are so desperate for relief that they are trying low doses of prozac and birth control pills to control their out of control monthly weirdness. both are mmj patients, and have also found that it can relieve many of their symptoms but not all. any additional suggestions? |

Rep Power: 1668024 | Well Labby as many OBGYNs as I have seen over the years- I probably wouldn't be able to spot an imposture!! Seriously, PMS< Endometriosis >cramps>hotflashes> headaches> and just plain bichiness, is something many women endure every day(and night) Some women are impaired by these symptoms. I can't help but think if these were mens ailments, there would be alot more research on remedies. And what do we have to look forward to after menopause? Estrogens and progestrens, more scary side effects. I chose not to use them and now I have osteoperosis,(Bones of a 70 year old) So, I don't know what the answer is, except research what you Dr. is giving you. And in the mean time I will be pumping up on Calcium!! We have to be responsible for knowing all the options that are out there. |

| Re: PMS and Menopause Support Thread I know the Farmacy has a couple different remidies to help w/the PMS BS. I'm sorry I can't say that I have tried any of these things but I have a Friend that swears by it. It's some kind of small bottle of juice stuff. Cost about 25-30 bucks. I don't have the cramps too bad, good kush seems to do the trick for me. Happy hunting but for sure try the farmacy for the PMS. |

Rep Power: 119 | Re: PMS and Menopause Support Thread :madHey, wanted to open up a new thread so we could just discuss cannabis for PMS and Menopause along with adjunct herbal and vitamin therapies. Many women I have known throughout my life swear by cannabis for female problems and pain. I was never able to take the birth control pills and hormones and I suspect women with PMS issues have a similar thing going on, not able to take the standard BC pill/hormone treatment to solve the issues of PMS, pain, endo, menopause. What might be nice for this thread too is if we could make a list of Drs that specialize in recommends for these issues and understand cannabis in that regard.[/QUOTE] Agree! Older women use medical marijuana too. My doctor put me on traditional anti-depression meds in my 30's to deal with PMS. By mid-40s they weren't working. An older friend suggested pot, it worked. After a couple years of feeling like a criminal, I decided to go "legal" this year. I have cut back the "legit" drugs by (30%) in 6 months (you can't go cold turkey on these, but I plan to eliminate them by this time next year and my family doctor is monitoring this). The meds I can now buy legally are clearly better quality than I bought "on the street", and I can tailor my meds to my specific needs. I'm feeling better. No more insomnia, night sweats are rare, and I'm more "even-keeled" than usual. Now is a perfect time to think about voting in 2008 for candidates that recognize the value of medical marijuana. This isn't an issue where the feds need to intervene to protect life/liberty of our people when a State enacts laws that harm their citizens (e.g. voter rights/civil rights issues in the sixties). I am a citizen. I pay taxes. I worry about my health care and the cost of it to me and those far worse off than me. Medical marijuana is on my short list of items that any candidate I vote for MUST support. I hope you feel the same. Rm |

Rep Power: 1751 | Re: PMS and Menopause Support Thread RM, I can not even began to think where I'd be without MMJ! The nausea, anxiety, depression, hot flashes and cold flashes of the last 7 months and made my life a living hell! The doctors have given every anti nausea drug known to man and nothing but MMJ works oh and when I asked for those "legal" thc pills the doctor didn't want to write the prescription worried about getting the governments attention!!! |

Rep Power: 113 | Re: PMS and Menopause Support Thread I have pms from hell and severe endometriosis. I usually only have about 7 pain free days of the month. MJ has helped me cut back on 2 of my prescriptions for this condition. I am even happier now after realizing edibles are helping even more. Please keep on passing the great advice. |

Rep Power: 119 | im not a Female... but, its amazing how Cannibus can help u chix with your Lady Like problems. i used to have a homegirl that would try to beat me up when she was on her rag... she would open her eyes widely. and grab onto me or my sweater/jacket... and SINk HER NAiLS INTO MY ARM. (then i would go and buy her Midol, so she would stop) Apparently it was the stomach cramps that made her semi-demonic. lol. if only i knew earlier that cannibus could be used to make her calm down... geez. so much less money spent on buying her Midol -iSTAY:slaugh:hiGh- |

Rep Power: 28388 | Re: PMS and Menopause Support Thread Im so gald we're having this discussion. I am currently studing to become an herbalist and ive been taking natural chinese medicine since i was 12 so im pretty familiar with most natural remedies. A good natural herb to take for women with severe menstrual cramps and bloting as well as hormone changes during those 3-10 days of a period. You can take an herb called DONG QUAI everyday. I promise you from experience it works wonders. Hope this helps some of you. Much Love FWC Staff |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: PMS and Menopause Support Thread Magnesium Phosphate (homeopathic cell salts) helps with cramping also; homeopathic remedies are available at health food stores have been beneficial too. What strains of mmj have helped others? btw. Sometimes using ice pack on my back during periods for 20min helped with that part of the pain, my Dr recommended it because of the inflammation which Ibroprofen helps and the ice, sometimes heat on the front. |

Rep Power: 57742 | Re: PMS and Menopause Support Thread sativas are very helpful w/ the hormonal blues. perimenopause totally sucks and i'm not looking forward to full-blown menopause kicking in---except for the hope that my symptoms will be gone once and for all. i've also started drinking some dong quai tea to help keep my body in balance. |
