Recieved Un-Solicited Mailing From Co-op

Came home yesterday and was greeted by the wife with a Christmas card from a co-op. She was unhappy because I promised her we wouldn't get such mailings because the co-ops are not supposed to do that, and I always write "do not mail" on my info sheet. We have teenagers at home, so this is an issue for us. AHPS was the co-op who sent it, and in it was a coupon for a discount. Needless to say I am not pleased that this co-op decided to send mailings to it's patients without first getting permission from the patients. What do you all think?

Wow- never heard of that. I don't blame you and your wife for being peeved. I think I would take it up with the co-op and make it clear that it won't happen again. Good Luck!

Red face Re: Recieved Un-Solicited Mailing From Co-op

If a co_op wants to make a greeting ,offer preferred discnts , there is no reason why contact can't be made online via e_mail ... if special dscnt involved ,a printer can do a hard copy ,and everyone's a happy camper ,yes ... ?/? ... that is all .....

Thank you all for the feedback! I think the co-op made an ethical error, and I will bring it to their attention!

I would absolutely go talk to the club about this. As a medical dispensary, that violates patient confidentiality, imo.

Think it is truly an invasion of privacy. Would call or visit them and tell them in person your feelings. I would be most upset as my mail is picked up from neighbors sometime for me. Did it have a return address on it? That would even be worse...in any case it would really pmo. I doubt that I would want to return there unless it was amicably communicated as to the error in their ways.

I think it's rude, irresponsible, and completely unacceptable.

Thank you for giving us the "head's up" about
AHPS' intrusive direct mail marketing tactics.

AHPS just sent me what I consider to be a heartfelt and sincere apology. They also promised to cease from such mailings. No major damage on my end, luckilly, so we will move on. Lets all keep our eye out for such mailings in the future from any co-op.

That kind of stuff should definitely be opt-IN only. As in, you check a box explicitly giving them permission to contact you.

BB, did they promise to you or to all patients? I just hope they changed their *policy* (as this thread indicates they should) and didn't just scratch of the BB name and say "boy, he's a grinch about our mailings."

Re: Recieved Un-Solicited Mailing From Co-op

was it in an envelope or was it a postcard, I wouldn't mind if it was in an envelope same way playboy comes to its readers in brown envelope. A postcard is a different story imo. This never happened to me so I don't know what my response will be

Re: Recieved Un-Solicited Mailing From Co-op

hey brattonb....did if have your name and all that on it? did the card specifically say that this is for medical marijuana? or just "christmass deals at _____ coop?

to clear this up...if the card was seen on the floor, would any one who saw it know that it was 4 mmj? or was it the type of thing that you must know about mmj and the specific coop in order to understand what it is about?

i hope my q makes sense,...haven trouble wording it right...

I think these guys are asking to be busted by the Feds by using the US Mail to solicit Federally illegal goodies.
