Need energy during the day I am trying to cut back on soda i drink about 4 cans a day at least. I know by doing this i will loose weight but my thing is i need the caffiene and sugar to stay awake during the day at work and school. Are there any drinks or herbal stuff i can take to help me keep awake so i can drink water or at least something better then pepsi.

Re: Need energy during the day No, you really don't need caffeine and sugar to stay awake. Your body just thinks that it does because of years (I'm ASSuming) of drinking both. Red Bull is not a viable alternative, as it has just as much caffeine and sugar as other sodas. Here's what I would recommend: Drop the caffeine and sugar all together. Buy yourself a good juicer, and try carrot juice, apple juice, grape juice, hell, strawberry juice. Natural sugars are a much better energy booster than processed ones. Or you could do what I do and cut back, and also juice. If you can't juice your own, try Naked Foods or Oodwalla, though they're expensive.

Re: Need energy during the day will has it right on, i have done personal training and sports nutrition for well over 14 years and natural juices are the best. get a juicer and a bunch of fruits and veggies, sounds nasty but if you mix, broccoli with say carrots and even an apple, you will get the natural energy from the veggie and because of the citrus sugars in the fruit you wont taste the veggies. i had a hard time wanting to drink it because it looks like puke, but when you experiment with all the fruits and stuff you will find a good combo.

Re: Need energy during the day Ocean Spray is not juice. It's from concentrate. Yes, it's better than soda, but it's still crap. Then again, I should probably practice what I preach...(Slugs down a coke). Then again, it's the first Coke I've had in a couple days.

Re: Need energy during the day I get about 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night i only smoke before i go to sleep or when i get off work if i am haveing a panic attack. I love odwalla but it is expensive yet soo good i like the green one. Maybe i will hit up robinsons may tomorrow and see if they have a juicer on clearance. I could bottle my own juice.

Re: Need energy during the day I wouldn't bottle your own juice, drink it fresh. Fresh juice won't keep very long, unless you pasteurize it.

I second the juice idea also. Cranberry aslo helps your urinary tract. I've heard ginko biloba is for energy, might be worth a try. | |

Re: Need energy during the day Ugh...Mountain Dew is...oh...just disgusting....to be used as a LAST resort. It's nothing but caffeine and sugar...probably one of the WORST things in the universe for you to imbibe...except maybe, Battery Acid. [Drinks down the strawberry/apple juice I just made...yum!]
