Update: The DEA raid is raiding several dispensaries that are owned by the same people who run Medex. The owner and his wife are currently in custody. Supporters are still encouraged to go to Medex to show support.

The raids are related to the raids that happened in March - same owner being targeted. And you're welcome :)

Update: Several protesters are blockading the doors at Medex and I called all media to get them down on site - 3 cameras are there now. Apparently, the DEA is trying to wait the protesters out and are still inside. If you're anywhere nearby, please go show your support.

More good news. The LAPD were on site (not participating in the raid but watching) and an advocate called City Hall to complain. They must have heard the complaint because all LAPD officers just left the site!

LA TIMES: Owner of L.A. marijuana dispensaries arrested

The owner of six Los Angeles-area medical marijuana dispensaries and his wife were arrested by federal agents early today following an investigation sparked by a traffic accident in which a man allegedly high on one of the dispensaries' products plowed into a parked car on the shoulder of the 101 Freeway, killing the driver of the vehicle and paralyzing a CHP officer.

Virgil and Psytra Grant, the proprietors of the clinics, are facing a host of federal charges, including operating dispensaries within 1,000 feet of schools and churches. The pair are expected to appear before a judge later this afternoon in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles. Authorities are seeking a third defendant, who allegedly sold a pound of marijuana out of the back door of one of the clinics.

I wonder whom the DEA will bust for the illegal use of Extasy... That was in the drivers system...

But as always, blame the seller, not the user.

Thanks for the extra info about the other drugs. I have serious doubts that MJ was entirely responsible for the dipshits intoxification level! I am positive the DEA will bury those facts!

I talked to K-CAL 9 and they said they would go. I know that 4 TV cameras are still at the raid filming.

When they can spew crap about "lawlessness" and point the finger at us they will. Besides, they must find ways to justify all the "other raids" in MMJ states.

The driver deflects away from personal responsibility by claiming as a patient his legal purchase makes driving under the influence justifiable.

I have no knowledge as to the other alegations, so will defer to others, but obviously the driver is a coward and would rather damage the MMJ community/family than face up to his wrongs...

I've never heard of a pharmacy in Rite Aid being raided because some moron took pills and killed someone while driving. That is no excuse to raid someone's dispensary. The dea makes me sick

Would a bar owner be arrested if some A-hole left his bar wasted and got into an accident and killed someone? Probably not

I was at the Compton Dispensary today and walked right in on the...POLICE. The never identified themselves as DEA, FBI or locals,. But the asked what I was doing and took down my license info...never once saying who they were. I was really pissed and wanted to speak up. Being African American and dealing with I say at least 5 agents all carrying guns I just gave them the standard yes sir no sir lines and let them copy my info. I just had thought of crack being thrown on me my ass being hangcuffed trying to get lawyers and the whole nine. After I left I felt really angry, I felt like I had almost been robbed. All the crime in Compton,m gangs, dope, there are illegals on evry corner all be they are only trying to make a living. But me as an American citzen gets harassed for trying to exercise my right...WTF.
