OK, it's time for a renewal on my medical marijuana recommendation. I have seen in the past people with actual I.D. cards, similar to a driver's license with photo and everything. My previous doctor just gave me a piece of paper, which is hard to carry around and gets destroyed very easily. Are there any doctors in the general south bay area (anywhere from San Pedro, Los Angeles, Hollywood, San Fernando Valley, even Santa Barbara) that give out I.D. cards rather than just paper? Thanks!!

I got it my paper rec and also got the other little id card the doctor i went to it came with it.
got it in Venice beach.

i got one of those cards from my dr but truthfully its useless no dispensary even wants to see it only original reccomendations

Same as above, Me too, from both doc. I had seen, one from the orig. and one from the renewal and the laminated cards are window dressing and advertising. All anyone wants is the paper with Doc. no. on it and verification info.

If you want a card that works, you have to get the county ID card. The cops as well have to accept it as well as nor cal. It's about 35.00. I know of a place in w la that will do it for $35

You will always get a paper rec from your doctor. Its much like a prescription, they have to give it to you. There are plenty of doctors that give out ID cards, but those are not usually valid cards, although they almost always have the exact same info as a rec. The card you are seeking is a state card, issued by the state health department (actually, I think they are issued by the individual counties, and those names are sent to a state database). Those cards will have to be recognized by anybody. I would still recommend having a COPY of your rec on you at all times. This way you would only need your original to get into [most] co-ops the first time you visit. The state card is a good idea to have though, as no cop in the state is allowed to dispute it, and they can look up on their computers whether the card is real or not.

Cops won't accept that card at all! Only a few clubs in NorCal will take it.

The State MMIC card is the only card of any value in LA. Police honor it.

The cards form West LA you mention are useless. Police and coops don't honor them. Beware.

My doc does the cards.
I don't have one though becuz I don't want to pay $25 for it.
I really can't say if they work or not...

Dr. David Young at Mediplex in Sherman Oaks gives both your paper rec as well as a MMJ ID card, however, as mentioned previously, the card looks real pretty, but is basically useless.

Always bring your original rec, as every club I've ever been to requires that.

SPEAKING OF MEDIPLEX:

I was shocked when I went to a new co-op today and they called to verify and MEDIPLEX'S phone number 818-789-0420 is out of service, so I was not allowed to get my meds there. WHat's with Mediplex? are they gone, what do people like me who spent 120.00 to do? this is horrible, NOW WHAT?

For a few bux ,ya can take down the paper rec to 'creditcard':smile2: size w/lamination @ a local print/office supply store ... that is all .....
