Rep Power: 1762 | Am I A Drain on the Economy?- A Tainted Compassion Cannablog Nancy Killefer was named Obama's "Chief Perfomance Officer," charged with examining the budget 'line by line" and cutting wasteful spending where appropriate. I was sitting here wondering when they get to the line that has American taxpayers paying 22,000+ dollars for my monitoring and supervision services, will they see it for the obvious drain on the community that it is? John Conyers has questioned the legitimacy of DEA actions against myself and other medical cannabis patients and providers, so there is already a red flag there. Will the new administration have the nerve to do what is right and put an end to the madness that is my life. It is not that I do not enjoy going to pee in a cup three times a month, or that struggling to put a sock on beneath my ankle monitor is not exciting every morning. It is not so much that I do not enjoy disclosing how broke I am in a monthly report to my Probation officer or even that I mind submitting my work schedule weekly. It is not even that I cannot drive my own children to school because of the time constraints of my community confinement or coach their little league baseball team because of my situation. No. These are all very livable situations that I have adjusted my life to. It is about the money. I read an article about schools in Detroit that do not even have funding for light bulbs and toilet paper. I read reports of kids in Oakland with no school books unless their parents purchase them. I read about our State making all employees take mandatory unpaid time off to help ease the burden of our resources. I here of physical education programs being cut, social services being depleted, and thousands of American's losing their jobs due to this economic meltdown, and I wonder how much the money spent on my lousy situation could help even one kid to read, or one person to be employed. Where is the outrage? Yes. I simply hope that this new Chief Performance Officer also sees the assault on medical cannabis providers a huge waste of our resources and puts and end to the madness. i hope she instructs the justice department to pardon and commute the sentences of the many of us whom thought we were doing the right thing. I hope the instruct the DEA to spend their resources on real drug epidemics that are tearing at the fabric of society and leave cannabis be as the benign substance and natural remedy that it is. When I think "performance" I look at the expensive box attached to my ankle and think of the "lack of performance" it signifies. When I pee in a $30 cup that can tell if I have done any drugs I think, "what a waste." Every time I write an email to my PO regarding my schedule I think, "this guy has got to have something better to do." We as a community need to press these issues for what they are in this grave economic time, A WASTE OF OUR RESOURCES. Call your congressperson today and let them know that this will not stand. Contact the transition team here. Tell them to cut our waste. |

Rep Power: 11974 | Re: Am I A Drain on the Economy?- A Tainted Compassion Cannablog I couldn't agree more... What a waste of time money, and the Most important thing our youth and hope... Its mind boggling to me as I sit back and here all this talk of an economic and financial crisis going on and no one doing anything to make a real change.. The Media ( Not News) is doing two things casting fear into the masses and putting doubt in you..It is up to us to come together as a community, and people to fight for what is Just and Right..Just Say No More!!! We need to have Zero tolerance of this oppression from our corrupt Government.."We The People" have the right to get rid of any Government that is not for Us!! Laws are supposed to help and Protect not hold you down and suppress your individualism..To imprison someone that did nothing wrong but provide relief to another human being is horrendous... This does not make me proud to be an American.. So today I'm writing all those officials that we have elected and letting them know how much the People depend on them and ask them to do their best to listen to us and not be such failures...Because in my eyes all those that we have elected aren't doing a thing for us.."We The People"..... Thanks Tainted for being an Inspiration, I do Thank my God for you and ask that he provides for you and your families daily needs!!! Fight with all you are, That is what separates Leaders from followers!! You are a True Leader................ |

Rep Power: 1762 | Re: Am I A Drain on the Economy?- A Tainted Compassion Cannablog We will see what the administration has to say. iwrote them this letter on change.gov: As a victim of this failed policy on cannabis medicines, I strongly encourage the President Elect to uphold his campaign promises to end DEA raids of patients and providers. I am currently a convicted felon and have lost my civil rights for providing food-based cannabis medicines to the sick and dying in California. The government spends $25,000 per year to monitor my activities for this "crime" and I am forced to wear the scarlet letter of a federal felony. This senseless action has left me in financial ruin, over $150,000 in debt, where I was a contributing member of society that employed many people. I am now a drain on the economy, a father who has a difficult time providing for his two young sons, and a person who believes his federal government is public enemy number one. What will you do to change my jaded outlook and transform our government back into the just and moral body it should be? Science and medical professionals continue to support overwhelmingly the use of cannabis for medicinal purpose, yet the federal government continues to stifle real research efforts by maintaining a monopoly on the supply of cannabis for research purposes. Why? What are they afraid to find out? Understand that there are many innocent and honest people such as myself in harm's way, as federal and state law continue to clash and the Drug Enforcement Agency continues to use criminal justice to ruin the lives of those who sincerely believe in the benefits of cannabis medicines. This incredible waste of resources in this time of economic despair continues to puzzle me. How can we not afford books for children in Oakland schools, yet we can spend millions enforcing laws that were created to protect the community from criminals, but are being used to shut down legitimate providers of cannabis to patients in conjunction with a recommendation from their physician? Please begin to address this needless waste and order the justice department to allow the States to regulate this matter in conjunction with the will of their citizenry. It is not the nanny state's job to play scientist, doctor, and babysitter to people trying to find relief through the natural therapeutic properties of cannabis. It is unacceptable and we demand that your administration take a more sensible approach to accepting, regulating, and implementing the will of the citizens of the United States. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Mickey Martin Director, Compassion Medicinal Edibles Oakland, CA |
