This browser has got it!!

Still in BETA, I downloaded this new browser only because Leo Laporte said he already had it.

It is fast, it functions differently than other browsers as it saves your info on their sever instead of in your harddrive.

Now I am just getting into this browser but although FF is my main one this one runs a close second.

It is FASTER than Opera.

No, not according to Leo Laporte the way it is set up is fine and secure.
Maybe I didn't explain it well enough.


All I know is that if it passes Laporte it is good to go.

Besides the EULA bullshit, it's just a marketing ploy to drive more address bar search through Google and generate revenue. I don't like it one bit personally, but that's just me.

well i use google and gmail alot, and compared to opera or FF- chrome is optimized for it. when using google or gmail with chrome, it's as if you're using an application which loads things instantly, not like your clicking links on the internet

My favorite new thing in this browser is the Incognito windows. CTRL SHIFT N and you have a window that remembers NOTHING in the browser. It's useful for using more than one account at any site. You can be logged into GMAIL under one account used primarily for photosharing with friends/family and open a new INCOGNITO window and it doesn't see you are logged in and so you can use another account used for correspondence or whatever.

The interface is very clean. So far, I have used CHROME exclusively since downloading it. Still cannot figure out how to make a bookmark though, it's probably so obvious that's why I don't see it.

Well don't know about the google one, but I have had it with IE, just switched to Firefox

Do this, ONLY use IE if you need to update Windows from their page.
I assume you are using IE7, it's the latest.

FF you will love.
From IE to FF, it's like using a browser on speed.

I am beginning to like Chrome, but there are no apps that you can add on like FF.

Of course there are the skeptics and that is fine.

I am a bit paranoid when it comes to security....

I used to be in IT, but I have been home with the cancer and the heart attack for more than five years so the IT world has passed me by.... my knowledge of browser security issues is simply too dated to be of any practical use.

I am a fan of Googles apps, and a long time Gmail user.... I have an immediate mistrust of all things M$ so I use only what I have to on a Windows box.....

I have IE on this Vista Ultimate box, but only use it for Windows update, and Netflix streaming video (they dont support FF)...

Firefox is otherwise my default....

Google's entry into the browser wars has me hesitating though...

IF (IF!) I understand the actual motivation for Google to invest millions into a "free" browser it is this:

Google was not getting the cooperation they wanted from M$ in directing searches to Google (M$ wants you to use theirs) and targeted ads are Google's meat and potatoes...

So, you build a browser that ALWAYS defaults to YOUR search engine, and ALWAYS delivers the user data needed to complete their market research.... Even when it allows you to use another search engne, my understanding is it still collects all the same data...

My understanding of the Incognito mode ( or whatever it is called when you choose not to send info back) was that it still collected all the same data, just stripped your specific user id so that you dont get the Google targeted ads back... Did I misunderstand how that works?

OK, so Google is spying on me with their browser....

But unless I miss my guess, (help me out here you other tech geeks) FF probably does much the same, we just havent made a big deal out of it, right? And I am sure IE also makes the same data available as well....

So, am I right when I assume all the spying Google is publicly doing in their new browser is really already going on in the background anyway and I have just not been "sensitized" to it like I was with the intro?

A little clarification on Chrome.

You know all that info that is stored in your cashe , well it's not with Chrome, it's stored in Chrome eliminating your HD from looking for things, thus speeding it up.

I was excited to use it when it was released, but afterwards it kept freezing, flash kept crashing and It started taking a while for pages to load.

FIREFOX>>>>Chrome all day.

Google needs to work on it a little more, it has potential, but for now it sucks.

exactly. i dont want any of my info stored on their server. its bad enough the internets is trying to track everything i do i dont need another app to try to get more info from me.
