Rep Power: 556076 | What Makes a Good Tracker? A while back some of us were pondering on what makes a tracker a good user (and in a sense, a good patient). We were trying to think of some short statements, something to share with the new users. I don't think I'm conveying this very well but it seems as though people always run into the same mistakes time and time again. We all know what good internet etiquette is but since Wter pertains to a very specific and unique community we do have a bit of our own "tracker etiquette". I came up with a few thoughts, most are common sense.... 1. Call before you head out to a collective. This will avoid any issues such as early closing hours, 21 and up policies, closed membership and so on. 2. Private Message your caregivers before airing your specific complaints. For example, if a club shorted you then ask them about it and see what they can do. People make mistakes and issues can easily be resolved off the forum. Posting it on the board should be the next step if you don't receive an answer. 3. Be respectful in all your dealings with fellow users. People will be more likely to help you when you need it. This applies to both co-ops and your peers. Need help finding a specific strain? Don't know where a good deal is in your area? Other users might be more willing to give their time to you if they know you're not going to turn around and waste their time in other threads by being a jackass. 4. Stop thinking you deserve to always get something for free from a place. Free is free, it's not mandatory. A collective might be more willing to help you out if you're not blasting expletives and flames. Some co-ops have compassionate care programs and can be willing to help out patients who's financial situations are dire (see #3). Anyone have some thoughts on this? What do you think makes a good Tracker? |

Rep Power: 42942 | Hello again, MRT!!! Hey dwynn, how are you feeling these days? I think tolerance of another's ideas and comments makes a good WeedTRACKER! LK says it enough; "agree to disagree" and move on, period. The constant wrangling makes us all look like idiots to the rest of the world and it tends to discourage the people on WeedTRACKER who want to get more involved -- the constant intolerance seems to be insufferable to them! So, more tolerance, i.e., patience, politeness, no wrangling to get a point across. |

Just so this stays on topic lol, I think a good tracker is embodied in eazy's comment, "Tolerance" and "Compassion" are two words of many that i would use to describe a "Good" tracker, but just like Tolerance and Compassion are words that have many interpretations i think so is a "Good" Tracker. Peace ................ Dale!

Rep Power: 501291 | Re: What Makes a Good Tracker? Welll...... since MRT asked, I would like to add something here. Why do wters' go into co-op forums & make comments, if they themselves' have never been to that paticular co-op? I understand the comments' on prices', they are sometimes' posted in the forum. Still, if you don't like or agree with a certain co-op, it's simple, Don't go there. I have been on wter for over 3 years'. I think of this site as a community. Thats' what I LOVE about wter. There are so many that care here. It hurts me to see people not getting along, especially over silly stuff. We are so LUCKY to have a forum where we can all discuss the common thread we share in our lives'. Lets' make the most of it. "Treat others' the way you want to be treated" |

And yes, many people give the words tolerance and compassion different meanings. Some people think that just opening the doors is tolerance and compassion, and it is. Others think low prices and high quality are compassion, and it is. But still...if we just tolerate one another...it all works out in the end! I think true tolerance fosters growth in many ways! Agin'...glad to hear you are okay...the silence was defining for a bit there. Hey...I never showed you a pick of my first homey!!! Here ya go -- you'd have luvved this dog, he'd point and snatch a bird out o' mid air!!! ...homey, smokin' a bone wit dah boys! ![]()

Rep Power: 82323 | Re: What Makes a Good Tracker? This may seem too simplistic, but here goes: "If you can't say something in a civil tone to someone, then don't say anything at all." Of course we can agree to disagree, but put the emphasis on being nice, or at least civil, with the tone when addressing other Wters (patients, forum folks, vendors, admins and mods). Keep in mind, we are all here to exchange info on the very special topic of MMJ. If we all can't form a unified way here on Wter, what chance do we have convincing the non-MMJ folks to see things our way? Last edited by Jeffster; 08-06-2009 at 07:47 PM.. I think I'd rather stab myself in the eye if that became the mark of a good tracker. Both eyes. But it'd be a good thread for that fantasy forum I mentioned in the $2 lb thread!!!

Rep Power: 42942 | Question about being a better WeedTRACKER. A user just negative repped me that does not know me *and* they made a disparaging comment. My instinct is to give them positive rep n' words of encouragement but the impulsive side of me wants to give them negative rep and a snotty comment. I've examined both thoughts...the instinct, the impulse. I'm on the fence. I *want* to negative rep the user who flung some dung around, but...I don't. What would make me a better WeedTRACKER...returning the negative rep stating; "You don't know me. Why would you say such a horrible thing to a stranger?", or...a positive rep n' the ole "I understand your dilemma, her's a little love to get you through today!" Before you answer...it's a given I'd negative rep somebody who negative repped me, for no reason, and I know they know me and they know better than that and they were just being impulsive -- a love bump, no meanness intended, knowing they'd understand, eventually. And, I'm not joking. I was pondering this while I was cleaning before I got back online. Writing this...a big smile overwhelms me and I wanna leave positive rep! hep' me a-fore I go and demote the user's rep by a leaf or some major bars! And so you know...the last time somebody negative repped me, which is extremely rare...I did demote them good, on impulse -- I said..."eh, phuck it, that wasn't nice!". I went to their profile, found a post where they were judgmental, which was their complaint, and quoted the statement and left the disapproval! I felt bad afterwards, but obviously, it was meant to be cuz it feels right today. But, the other character...the user in question...he's got a vibe like somebody we've all seen here before, you can feel it! Last edited by Eazy; 08-06-2009 at 09:13 PM.. |

Rep Power: 14205 | Re: What Makes a Good Tracker? I'd have to agree with Rix, one of the key points of being a good tracker is someone who is willing to take the time out of there day to answer questions and/or help another patient in need. |
