I've noticed that I've gotten reputation from people and next to their name is a green little square.....but i got some rep from people with a silver square....whats the difference b/t the two colors?

That person didn't give you any points. Green is when you get points, red is when they take away points, and the silver/light blue color is neutral. Usually happens by mistake, the pull down menu can be a bitch.
