Rep Power: 572 | Do edibles help with your sleep? I read a post about being sick and switching from smoke to edibles.....does anyone else use edibles for sleep? which ones work for you? I want to switch to edibles for a bit but need to see what works. Anyone tried the 520x (or 560x i can't remember) soda? |

I use valerian root and kava kava - sold at health food stores. These work well. The Valerian is good to induce sleep, the kava seems to keep you sleeping through the night. clinton

Rep Power: 166 | Re: Do edibles help with your sleep? Yes, edibles make me sleepy, and help me sleep throughout the night. What I like most is that edibles help me get a deeper and most restful sleep than smoking. It takes a little longer to feel the effects than smoking, so I eat edibles about an hour before bedtime. I usually don't buy edibles but make my own. I buy canna butter and bake my own brownies. I keep some in the fridge and put the rest in the freezer in sandwich bags, and then when I want to eat one I take it out and nuke it for about 30 secs. Here is a great recipe that a fellow weedtracker posted: http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/...olate-brownies Very easy to bake. Good luck! |

i will agree totally w/ Green Tea. i make my own edibles as well. that is the best way to monitor dosage and expense. i buy the cannabutter and usually add additional hash to increase the potency. i also freeze mine and when individually wrapped, they last a very long time. edibles are the only thing that will allow me to get a deep and restful sleep. like GT, i eat one about an hour before bed so that they kick in after i've fallen asleep to keep me sleeping. brownies are the best way to go because they use 2x the butter of most baked goods. i also use a martha stewart recipie, but one that i use is a little different and uses 2 "sticks" of butter....i think it is a similiar recipie but make a bigger batch due to the 13 x 9 pan. i get @ least 50 small but potent brownies per batch....lasts me 6-8wks.

Rep Power: 20570 | Re: Do edibles help with your sleep? For me, edibles are the only way to go. I make my own very potent brownies. I have made many different styles, and for simplicity I now just use a brownie mix. I use ONLY hash. no canna-butter at all. I make an 8 inch by 8 inch pan, cut into sixteen brownies... I use seven grams of hash per batch. I do not use solvent extracts. I freeze my hash for an hour to get it as firm as possible, then I put three or four (or 5) heaping tablespoons of the powdered brownie mix in a cheap blade type coffee grinder, add the hash and grind it as fine as possible, like powdered sugar if possible. Make sure to "scrape" the goodies off the inside of the grinder... I have one I use strictly for hash. I then add the powdered hash to the liquid ingredients (egg, oil, water) mix COMPLETELY, then add the rest of the brownie mix to the liquid parts..... bake at 325 for about 55 minutes... cool completely cut into 16 doses, wrap each in saran wrap or waxed paper, put into a ziplock, and freeze..... 30 seconds in the micro gives you a nice fresh warm brownie... One whole one is a heavy night-time dose, pretty much guarantees a great night's rest. 1/4 or 1/3 is a great daytime dose. It just doesnt get simpler. |

Rep Power: 42942 | Yeah it does. ha. Bake a gram of your favorite bud at 275 to 324 degrees wrapped in one layer of tinfoil for 15 minutes in a pre-heated oven, experiment for different temperature effects. The baked bud crumbles into powder. Toss the powder into anything fatty or alcoholy. Other than smoking a bowl, it don't get no easier *than that*! Enjoy. |

Rep Power: 259284 | Re: Do edibles help with your sleep? Edibles do work, But you will want to use Indica not a Sativa! An Indica is more for sleep and a Sativa would be more of a daytime med. There are some many ways to medicate with edibles. such as Teas, brownies, cookies, Salad dressings, Breakfast bars etc... I have tried and made them all!! |

Rep Power: 11455 | Re: Do edibles help with your sleep? I never used to, but now I combine edibles with a couple of bowls and sleep fine. I get muffins from WAMM, and Mrs V is learning how to make very potent edibles. I also sometimes take caps made using cannabis and butter, more or less what Eazy describes, but dried and used for everything from butter to these caps, 2-3 per dose, plus a bowl of flowers, and I go to dreamland.... Using edibles during the day is trickier. Best to make your own, so you know how strong they are. BTW, when the butter/fatty oil method is used, ALL of the THC, CBD and CBN are extracted, making for a much more medicating experience. Happy cooking, 'bug:slaugh: |

The ONLY SERIOUS area of concern is this... many folks with compromised digestive systems may encounter some difficulty in digesting the actual plant fibers themselves. The plant is not particularly easy to digest like many of our regular food plants, it is fiberous (think raw material for rope)... While the dry baking method does the job of decarboxylation (sp?) [converting the THCA to THC] and evaporates some of the low boiling terpenes, it does nothing to break down the plant fibers for digestion. The damp heat from baked goods does accomplish this, and using hash or other concentrates further reduces the amount of plant fiber to be digested. So, either method MAY be right for you, you just need as many facts as you can get, then make the right choice for YOUR personal situation...we are all a little different.

Also, different temps provide different effects. Around 275-300, more head orientated effect with good pain relief. Above that and below 325, you get a much more pronounced body effect with an added slur to the head, again, too much for me, it's persisting into today! luv this method!

I have some SSH sativa brownies I won't touch because they keep me up at night. I mean these doobobs wind you up similar to another type of drug. Kind of like Popeye eating spinach... I get too much strength and energy from the sativa brownies, and can end up worn out when they're all done with me. :slaugh:

Rep Power: 13271 | Re: Do edibles help with your sleep? Originally, I started using MMJ because of a cancer diagnosis, but nowadays, I just need something to help with sleep in the evenings. In my humble opinion, I agree that Sativas are more of your daytime MMJ. There's a lot of argument if there is any difference, but that is my personal experience. Anytime I eat an edible made with a sativa, I tend to have a mind which races constantly and I usually end up thinking about all the things I need to do, etc., etc. In clinical terms, this is what is called a paradoxical effect. You think that something will medicate and relax you, but it has the opposite effect. Again, this is just my personal experience. With indica, I just get nice and cozy and ready to sleep. Depending on how strong the batch of edibles I make is, I usually eat a small portion before dinner on an empty stomach and wait a half hour before I eat. By bedtime, I'm usually ready for a good night's sleep. Good luck with testing your recipes. If you have time, attempt to make infused olive oil to bake your edibles or add to your recipes. Using the actual plant material risks your end product tasting like, well, MMJ. Using an infused oil really does make a difference in the taste. |

Rep Power: 3186 | Re: Do edibles help with your sleep? Jane Dough's regular dose from Care can knock me out to where I don't even need a sleep aid that night. Double dose is just too much, but I sleep even longer. I'm using edibles about 3 times a week now and getting very good results - perhaps too good. I'm tired the next day sometimes. |

Rep Power: 450994 | Re: Do edibles help with your sleep? I use a "medible" every night. Changing it from a brownie, cookie, cannamilk, canna-olive-oil, etc. If I just smoke, I'm awake every 90 minutes. So like the rest, an edible at bed time. I prefer the 'body high' as that is what I need, something to keep the muscles from spasming and knock out the Restless Leg Syndrome. . |

Rep Power: 19 | Re: Do edibles help with your sleep? Edibles are an excellent for one to goto sleep quickly. depending on your tolerance you may want to take things slow... there is a multipler effect when you ingest marijuana... generally speaking its 3-4 times stronger than smoking. its very easy to overdose and get knocked out quick.... most clubs ive been to recommend eatting half a brownie and waiting 20-30 mins to judge the effects. |
