A couple weeks ago, the news had video of a hospital waiting room where a woman falls out of her chair and has seiziers. No one helped her. No one even checker her for over an hour. The guard saw her then walked away. She was the mother of 7 children (now grown).

This week four girls were plays in the surf next to a tanning beach in Spain. The girls got into trouble and no beach tanners lifted a hand as two of the youngest drowned. When their bodys were broght to the beach and covered with towels - the tanners put on more oil and rollled over.

Three weeks ago a man was hit by a car in front of several people - the car did not stop and no one walked over to help him. He was old anyway. A couple people did call 911 AFTER the police drove by and saw the man.


I hope that we are a community of people who do care about the lives, struggles. and well being of our neighbors. It is help and be helped. This is advanced logic for some, but it works and it feels good.

Do you know someone who is down today? Can you reach out and love them. Will you reach out to someone or anyone, and give them real help and not hypocritcal words?

as much as I would like to think so I have to say no. In todays society unfortunately most are self centered and only think of themselves. I am not saying all and have faith that if I was broken down on the side of the road that many that I have grown to know here would be the first to offer assistance but for the most part people only think of themselves.

the boondock saints is a movie about twi irish brothers in boston who become vigilantes against corruption... pretty much offing mobsters and other people who are pretty much scumbags. here's the imdb link, it's my favorite movie of all time

Boondock saints is a great great movie. Still dont understand how it did not make it to the big screen.

there was a whole lot of drama with the production company or something, which is why it's taking so long for them to release the sequel. there are a ton of rumors about it coming out sometime 2009 though. it was something about the rights, troy duffy not getting the money he deserved... lots of drama. i think they did release it, but it got pulled really quickly or something

i cant belive that people can just watch someone in distress and do NOTHING. it breaks my heart. I would do ANYthing to help someone if i saw them hurt or cold or hungary. I know sometimes i get slapped in the face when i do. One time i saw a bumb asking for money he was asking some people walking by and i felt really sad so i went in to Burger king and got a grip of those 99cent woppers and he came up to me and asked for some money and i said i dont have any but i have this for you. He said mmm well ...what kind are they!? i told him woppers sir and he said well i guess i will take them. Kinda made me mad cuz i still gave them to him. but this inncodent never stops me from trying to help people. The video of the old man getting hit by a car made me cry for days. This is horriable. people dont want to be liable for another person. But i feel we are all supposed to help each other we are all family on this planet.

the whole movie is awesome. i had the dvd and lost it (i literally cried when i couldn't find it...i was attatched to it...) so i rented it and watched it again, medicated, like 7 times in a row, lol


i've done my fair share of buying homeless people lunch. we sheltered my buddy when he ran away from home during high school, there is no way i can keep walking when someone needs help. it's awful that people can just walk by when they see people in horrible circumstances

I agree with helping others, I feel that it is part of being a decent human being. As the saying goes "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"

I think what it really comes down to is Diffusion of responsibility. The more people that are around, the less someone feels obligated to help someone else. If they see absolutely no one takes initiative to help the person who needs help, it's almost as if they are too scared to break out of the rest of the crowd and stand out.

I guess it's also fear that keeps people from acting as good Samaritans. There comes a point where we have to put our fears aside and take the initiative to help someone out. That could be one of our loved ones some day.

Yes I see your point on how it works. I see it as becoming desensitized to other peoples suffering. We need to become conscious of how other are living and also dying.

Some do not care about who they know, let alone who the do not know. Maybe it is to much TV deaths.
