Rep Power: 390 | Bible Trivia .As a child I went to Christian school, I am drawing a blank about a bible story they repeated in many grades about opportunity. The story was about a wealthy man who was leaving on a trip and called his 3 most trusted aides/workers over. With each man he gave a portion of his wealth and asked them to hold it till he returned. When he came back the first guy servant said “look I invested your money and tripled it”. The next man said I doubled your money sir, and then the last guy said I didn’t do anything I buried it so it would be safe till you got back. The moral of the story was to take opportunity when its given to you. This week it seems sort of fitting when I think of the people who consider passing judgment on someone who went after their dream and died being the same as suicide. Needless to say Im not about to let a few Jesus freaks pass judgement on the life and death of a young man who I admired as an athlete. So Im sure this religion section on weedtracker isn’t the normal place to turn for help on a Bible lesson but I am anything but normal and the Holy rollers are on my shit list right now. Even if you know a God loving person you could ask it would mean alot to me. Ive cried over the loss of this guy Ive never met, but its hard to sit and watch the crash on You Tube and read a page of people who think he had a death wish. |

Rep Power: 8309 | Re: Bible Trivia i went to lutheran school when i was a child (unfortunately lol) and heard the same parable. matthew chapter 25, verse 14. from the international standard version bible: 14“Similarly, it is like a man going on a trip who called his servants and turned his money over to them. 15To one man he gave five talents,[f] to another two, and to another one, based on their ability. Then he went on his trip. 16“The one who received five talents went out at once and invested them and earned five more. 17In the same way, the one who had two talents earned two more. 18But the one who received one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground, and buried his master's money. 19“After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20The one who had received five talents came up and brought five more talents, saying, ‘Master, you gave me five talents. See, I've earned five more talents.’ 21His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy servant! Since you have been trustworthy with a small amount, I will put you in charge of a large amount. Come and share your master's joy!’ 22“The one with two talents also came forward and said, ‘Master, you gave me two talents. See, I've earned two more talents.’ 23His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy servant! Since you have been trustworthy with a small amount, I will put you in charge of a large amount. Come and share your master's joy!’ 24“Then the one who had received one talent came forward and said, ‘Master, I knew that you were a hard man, harvesting where you haven't planted and gathering where you haven't scattered any seed. 25Being afraid, I went off and hid your talent in the ground. Here, take what is yours!’ 26“His master answered him, ‘You evil and lazy servant! So you knew that I harvested where I haven't planted and gathered where I haven't scattered any seed? 27Then you should have invested my money with the bankers. When I returned, I would have received my money back with interest.’ 28Then the master said,[g] ‘Take the talent from him and give it to the man who has the ten talents, 29because to everyone who has something, more will be given, and he will have more than enough. But from the person who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away from him. 30Throw this useless servant into the outer darkness! In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’”[ Last edited by Organo; 02-14-2009 at 04:01 AM.. |

Rep Power: 630 | Re: Bible Trivia That is why I believe being a Christian is one of the most difficult journey any man/woman could experience. Christians are held to standards that are, in fair, opposite of many beliefs and non beliefs. Hey, peace and love to everyone; no one is perfect and everyone has fallen short in life at least once or twice. In regards to this thread, I was wondering what the author was getting at with the Bible's teaching and how the story of Judgment affected him or her. I'm curious to know why you were thinking of that scripture. Were you taking an opportunity to share a testimony here?. peace friend. |

It is, but what of the issue of marijuana? Some christian brothers and sisters are close minded about it, they refer to the sober scripture. | |
