Rep Power: 14758 | Urgent Action: Medical marijuana laws in danger (Voting Tomorrow) I cant find this on here, and i have no idea why. This is a copy post from MPP Dear MPP Supporter : Tomorrow morning, a committee in the U.S. Senate will consider an amendment that could undo the state medical marijuana laws that voters and legislators in 13 states have worked so hard to pass. Your senator, Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), sits on the committee that will vote on this amendment. Please take action to stop this amendment before the committee vote tomorrow by calling Sen. Harkin's office right away. While MPP has not yet seen the exact text of the current amendment, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) introduced a similar measure in 2007, and we believe this amendment will closely mirror the 2007 version. That amendment used a nefarious technique to attack medical marijuana patients and caregivers by allowing the FDA to possibly stop effective state medical marijuana laws. Sadly, Sen. Harkin voted in favor of this amendment when it came up in 2007, which means it's critical that he hears from you. Will you please help prevent Sen. Coburn's anti-medical marijuana amendment by calling Sen. Harkin's office at 202-224-3254? When you call, you can say: “Hello, my name is [your name] and I live in [your town, your state]. I heard that Sen. Tom Coburn is introducing an amendment to S. 982, the tobacco bill, that will undermine state medical marijuana laws. Please ask the senator to help protect medical marijuana patients by opposing Sen. Coburn's amendment. Thank you so much for your time.” You can also visit mpp.org/callcongress for more information on how to make an effective call to your senator's office. Thank you for taking action today. Please e-mailinfo@mpp.org and let us know how your call goes. Sincerely, Ben Morris Assistant Manager of Government Relations Marijuana Policy Project P.S. If the links in the e-mail above don't work, please visit http://control.mpp.org/site/MessageV...0&dlv_id=26081 . on another note I cant find out what state senator is voting for this for California (the above article refers to Iowa state senator since he voted no last year) here is a list of California senators you can send a e-mail in support http://www.sen.ca.gov/~newsen/senators/senators.HTP Last edited by codeman420; 05-18-2009 at 07:12 PM.. |
