Rally At Noon Tues 1/8 - SF City Hall (TODAY!)

THE RALLY DISCUSSED BELOW HAS BEEN CANCELED DUE TO RAIN --- HOWEVER ACTIVISTS ARE GOING TO MEET AT 2:30 PM AT CITY HALL IN THE NORTH LIGHT CAFÉ, TO DISCUSS WHAT THEY WANT TO SAY DURING THE PUBLIC COMMENT SECTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING.

Medical Cannabis Patient Advocates Speak out on Mayor Newsom's silence!

For Immediate Release

Bay area providers and patient advocates join together before Mayor Newsom’s inauguration to express their concerns about Newsom's reluctance thus far to make a statement in support of protecting safe access centers in bay area!

When federal forfeiture letters were issued to landowners who lease to Medical Cannabis Safe Access Centers in northern California by the Drug Enforcement Agency, both Mayor Bates of Berkeley and Mayor Dellums of Oakland stepped forward in unity with patient advocates.

They agreed to support congressional judiciary chairman John Conyers Jr in his bold statement criticizing The Drug Enforcement Agency’s attempts to undermine California law and block safe access to hundred of thousands of patients who are suffering.

Where is Mayor Newsom? He claims to be a four star opponent of drug policy in America. He campaigned in medical cannabis clubs. But yet his voice is absent in the battle cry to protect safe access.

Many properly run facilities in his own city have received these threatening letters. Both policy executives and local patient advocates have stressed the urgency to his staff. [See you tube.com clip entitled call to SF mayor.]

Patient advocates have received sincere support from Senator Carole Midgen, Assemblyman Leno, and Supervisor Mirkarimi who are willing to stand in solidarity and uphold California's laws. Where is Mayor Newsom?

WHEN? Tuesday January 8th at noon in front of city hall [ before the 1 pm inauguration ceremony]

WHO? Patients, providers and their allies

WHY? to urge Mayor Newsom to speak out on behalf of safe access to medical cannabis

Re: Rally At Noon Tues 1/8 - SF City Hall

so we did public comment at board of supervisors mtg - and are still trying to bring out Mayor Newsom - please email ****.farrah@sfgov.org and nathan.ballard@sfgov.org - nathan is the mayors spokesperson n **** is his senior advisor.

Also today the federal co-operative who testified in Ed Rosenthals case - which was a case mostly to set the stage for a federal take down of locally regulated safe access - was granted a permit to operate - if you have concerns about this and beleive that federal co-operatives should not be operating co-ops - seems like a no brainer huh? but most remain silent about this federal co-operative becuase he has allot of money n invested in local politics - and national policy orgs -sound like a conspiracy ! anyway if this gets to your senses - and you think federal co-operatives should be barred from being able to profit after testimony against - please email ross.mirkarimi@sfgov.org and encourage him to protect safe access and include this in local regs.
