For those whom do not know, about 6 months ago Bank of America (at what we believe under pressure from the DEA) closed the accounts of many Collectives without warning. Well they are at it again, it seems that Holdovers from the Bush Administration within the Justice Dept. are still applying pressure behind the scene's. I urge all patients that have accounts with B of A to close those accounts and take them elsewhere. Be sure to let them know exactly why you are doing so. It is imperritive that we put pressure on the big corps and let them know that this kind of discrimination will not be tolerated.

Utterly ignorant to claim Obama has "cleaned house". All of us rational patients who appreciate the first pro-MMJ POTUS in history know that Obama has not had the time to micro-manage the DOJ and DEA. Bush's DOJ was corrupt and politicized to a level never before seen. It's going to take alot of time and effort to bring these folks back down to earth.

LOL Can anyone name one single Federal Agent? I used to collect Baseball Cards, but I never was interested in keeping up on G-men.

It is pretty common knowledge that most of the Feds at the DOJ are career workers. They are supposed to take direction from the top. It is also pretty common knowledge that Bush politicized the entire process of hiring U.S. Attorneys at the DOJ with his corrupt and dishonest yes-man AG Alberto Gonzales, who resigned in shame. JOV was IMHO just reporting to us patients about more underhanded bullshit that is targeting our MMJ caregivers who use B of A. It is commonly accepted by most Weedtrackers that Obama appears to be on MMJ patients side for the most part, and would not approve of such tactics. So, no, I can not and will not name you names. But I certainly hear where JOV is coming from, and I do not find it inappropriate or offensive that he blames Bush holdovers. But that is just my opinion, I do enjoy to hear others opinions as well.

I am curious Hunter do you have the names of those in the DOJ and /or the DEA from those years?

As I understand how the Justice dept works is when a new administration comes in they appoint a A.G. whom is in thier direct command. All other staff stays the same except by appointment of the AG. It would seem to me that it would take some time for the "New American Policy" to trickel all the way down and as it does those whom do not follow that policy are either transfered to a different dept or retired early. It would be interesting to know exactly how many "Clinton,Bush 1 & Bush 2 holdovers there are. I really do not give a darn about whether they are republicans or democrats what they are doing is "WRONG" That is the point I was trying to make, Sorry if I offended any of my fellow w/ter's.

I never had an account with B of A but my company does so I would go into the branch by my work to cash my check. Every time I would go in they would ask me if I wanted to open an account. One day they asked me and I was fed up with it so I laid it out to them.

Told them that there was no way in hell I would ever have an account with them and allow them to hold onto my money. When the guy asked me why I told him that I was a MMJ patient and that corporate at B of A has granted the DEA their wish of shutting down legitimate dispensaries bank accounts and that I would not support any company that does that.

I also searched all news releases between APR 19, 1995 - FEB 25, 2009 at DEA and cannot find a single release about teaming with certain banks to freeze or close accounts of medicinal distribution points.

I also used the search feature and used terms both specific and general including "medical marijuana" and included terms such as "Bank of America" and "bank account" but could not find anything in support of the original claim.

As one who is naturally curious and prefers documented claims, if no additional support is posted and I cannot verify the claim, I'm not about to change banks, write letters and/or make telephone calls to my duly elected non-representatives.

With all of the Bush holdovers that obviously are still behind the scenes pushing (Thank you, JustOneVoice, for informing all of us) we need to not take any chances with the court system. In 2006 Ronnie Naulls founded Healing Nations Collective, a storefront facility with the purpose of facilitating the safe access of medical marijuana for California residents who have been recommended the use of marijuana for medical purposes. Healing Nations Collective was organized under California law as a Non-profit organization, founded with the counsel of Attorney Robert Raich (Gonzalez v. During the raid they confiscated family vehicles, savings and checking accounts and all related and unrelated business accounts. Ronnie's three daughters were ripped from their mother’s arms and placed in the custody of Riverside County Child Protective Services. Ronnie was indicted by a Federal Grand Jury, arrested, and thrown in Federal prison. His parent’s put their home up for the bond for his release and he has spent the past 18 months on house arrest trying to put his life back together.

This is not conjecture I know first hand because the last time it happened we aquired a copy of the Corporate Memo ordering the closeure from some one whom was a MMJ Patient that works for B of A. I no longer have my copy and could most likely get one again but I assure you that it is coming from the DofJ my friend.

Thank you for expanding upon the information JOV.

My very first checking account was with B o A and was only open a couple months after they lost a deposit then charged me for bounced checks.
