Rep Joe Wilson of South Carolina took it one giant step further last night when he heckled our POTUS as he gave his speech to Congress. I see no hope for civil discourse with the attitude of the far right. Is there any hope?

there is no hope for the far right. they are out of touch w/ the average american and don't actually give a sh**t about the average american.

we really need health care reform. i just got a bill from cedars for my most recent mammogram/ultrasound for $620 that evidently my individual policy did not cover. when i had a group policy from my last job (before i got laid off and my cobra ran out), all my medical expenses were covered. there is NO way i should have to pay for preventative care. i don't want to even think how much it would have cost if they had to do another biopsy........

I do too. The way I look at it is, we elect these people to speak for us the People and as far as I was concerned he was speaking for a lot of people at that point.

he wasn't directing his You Lie comment at the whole discussion of Health Care reform he was directing it at the fact that it would open the doors to illegals benefiting off the health care which is one area I do not agree with.

The american people will not allow critically injured or sick people, pregnant people, or handicapped/disabled people to just DIE. When they come to the hospital they GET HEALTH CARE. You will pay....public option or not.

The conservatives are besides themselves trying to de-rail social healthcare. They love them profits...profits off the backs of society. Pre-existing condition...no healthcare for you! actually I would like to see the public option in there, but I would also like to see the enforcement to make sure illegals do not benefit off it which is what is suppose to happen.

I realize that we all end up paying for the illegals health care. I mean after all they use the ER like it is a primary physician with no intention of paying the bill so we get stuck with it.

But anyways I should stop here cause there are way to many people on here that are overly sensitive to this subject and I do not feel like arguing today.

Additionally, taking that money and redistributing it to people with no money is also known as marxism. That's not propaganda, that's a fact. Read his work. You never give money to someone who doesn't have very much of it. Generally speaking, people who don't have money don't know how to handle it. Throwing money a problem is not reform, nor does it solve a problem.

As far as his healthcare "reform" being good, it's not. Other than the fact he plans on taking $900 billion from private health care(tell me that won't bankrupt someone), there is no way in hell that's going to be enough money. He has to cut medicare, and he has to raise taxes. He'll just find another reason to cut medicare and to raise taxes to fool all of you. I want the government to fuck off, but if there's going to be government programs, give the consumer a fucking choice. It drives me crazy that I go to private school, yet I have to pay for public education when I don't even use it. Fair? No it's not. If you use the system, you should pay into it. It'll be the same with health care. I don't want to pay into the system when I'm not using it. Don't say I'm not paying into it because granted he doesn't raise taxes, the money I spend to go to my private doctor is taken from that doctor and distributed to public health care. Therefore, I am paying into the system.

There is not ONE government program that has succeeded. Social security sucks, welfare sucks, police dept sucks, fire dept sucks, our infrastructure BLOWS, public education is in serious trouble(and don't just blame Bush, it's been a problem or a while), and now health care. Please do not just make inflammatory statements like the right doesn't get it. Republicans don't get everything right all the time, however, I feel in this situation, they're trying to preserve capitalism. When choice is taken away, competition is taken away. This means that capitalism is wounded once again. Capitalism isn't capitalism unless there's competition and choice.

Being myself from South Carolina, I can only shake my head in dismay at what is going on in my home state. I KNOW Wilson's mom raised him better than that.

In Victorian times, everyone was very polite and respectful to each other for the very good reason that most of the population went armed in public. It's not a good idea to disrespect someone you don't know, considering that said person might take offense and call you out. Perhaps these rude folks that are evidently opposed to reasonable discussion and problem-solving should check themselves out before someone on the other side gets real upset and takes them out. Seriously, when talking to a person with a firearm on their hip, respect and manners are strongly recommended. One of my ancestors shot a man through the wall in the hotel because he was snoring too loudly (John Wesely Hardin, my 6th cousin).

One thing for sure, Wilson is not from my part of the state (Charleston). Folks in the lowcountry are some of the most polite people you will ever meet. What with this Wilson guy and Gov "horn-dog" Sanford, it seems that South Carolina politics are looking more like Louisiana or Alaska......
