Rep Power: 312742 | Ron Paul Talks Secession http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com...-a-discussion/ I find this quite disturbing on one hand, and utterly humorous on the other. Ron Paul certainly speaks his mind, which is enough to ensure he will never get elected POTUS. This latest pandering to his base is on a par with his previous warning to his base that Obama was going to take away their guns. Comparing Texas in 2009 to the 13 colonies in the 1700's is not germaine. The colonies rebelled because of taxation without representation, hardly the case now. If Dr. Paul is so unhappy with the way things are going I suggest using the political process in place and advocating for elected officials who would please him more. The USA is about majority rule. He comes off like a sore loser crying that he wants to go home and take his ball. Comparing the USA to the USSR is also non-germaine. Dr. Paul also shows a shocking lack of knowledge about Texas law. He claims Texas would be allowed to seccede under the treaty signed when Texas joined the Union. The truth is Texas can exercise a clause and split into five States. We all know Ron Paul is not your ordinary politician, but he sure can pander and slant like the best of them. |
