Rep Power: 0 | Buy 2 give 1 for $399......... theres a company that is making low cost computers for kids, especially kids in the third world.... they are having a special until the 26th...get one for yourself (or give it away also) and the other gets shipped to a kid in a third world country............all for $399......... check out some of the stats; The energy-efficient computers have high-resolution screens, cameras, and peer-to-peer wireless communication capability built in. They run on free open-source software. There are no moving parts—no CD or DVD drive, and no hard drive—just 1GB flash memory and a low-power processor so it can be easily maintained. It can be powered by solar energy, a foot pump, or pull-string powered chargers, and the screen is readable in full sunlight...... i'm gonna do it.... i know many of us wt's are low on doh, but i also know that many co op owners arent...... Just something to think about this festive and holiday season... i dont think i can list the web sit but heres a name u may want to goggle if your interested...The One Laptop Per Child .................. |

Rep Power: 163674 | I've heard about this "third world pc" program and I think it's absolutely brilliant. They are being kind and making an appropriate profit at it. Quote:
Some would sniff that giving PCs to kids in impoverished nations is just enabling the moral failings that led to their poverty in the first place. I invite such people to a few years of education by illness-induced poverty. The same circumstances hold for our MMJ. It is very cheap to produce relative to the prices set by the black market for marijuana. Alas, such compassion as shown by these PC makers is rare among the grower community. Most providers (esp. growers) seem to hold that selling us our meds at street prices is compassion enough. Rep Power: 190831 | Re: Buy 2 give 1 for $399......... the come in 400 different color combonations so the kids will be able to tell them apart. youll get a random colored one, not necessarially the green one you see on the website. i ordered one, the year of free t-mobile hotspot service that comes with it is worth almost as much as the 2 computers cost. besides the $200 it cost for the one that gets donated is tax deductable. so your really paying $200 for a basic laptop and a year of wifi service which you could use with any of your other better laptops. |
