I've not been on lately, because of all the havoc my life was sent into. My landlords began calling me a vampire, and I was going to fight them to stay - but then my sweet little Persian Cat rescue named Tara, had dental problems.

We took her to the vet ER, who said it was dental, just have the teeth pulled, rest cleaned - but there was inflammation that wouldn't go down, that was causing her much pain.

I had her teeth cleaned on April 9, 2008 - and was given the news that my darling dilute calico, baby girl - was going to die...and soon. She had jaw cancer, and it appeared to be Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

So, I ran her to two Cancer professionals; first one said, she'd be dead in a week, if I didn't start the $5000 worth of chemo and radiation...it could buy her 3 months possibly. I took her to another specialist between here & SD. Cancer was size of a quarter, and was aggressive...too late to excise it; cats don't take radiation well, and NONE survive this deadly type of cancer.

So, I did what anyone who loves their cat, who's helped them through their personal hell of pain - I made sure that cat had a month supply of Bupronex, every month, and took it once or twice per day, along with a Torp Solution.

I tried higher quality food. She did eat solid food a few days after surgery, but the cancer leaked icky flavor into her mouth, so she lost the desire to eat. She had fire in her eyes - she was DEFIANT to the end. I hand fed her two times per day, an hour each day total. She was a good little patient. SHe saw 4 vets and assistants, and broke everyone's heart.

I was fortunate, in that the OSCC grew outward, downward predominantly - up until the near last moment, she was running around, begging for Catsip milk, and giving everyone kissies. She maybe suffered 10 minutes, because she couldn't swallow...I couldn't stop her bleeding...my baby bled out, and still refused to live...I spent half an hour trying to stop it, and she sighed, and held my arm, and had a seizure.

I couldn't let her go in pain - even her moderate heart murmur wouldn't take her down...so, we drove and had them administer the meds, to stop her pain, in my lap. She nor I wanted her to go - even the vet was sad, she said there was nothing more we could've done...even a blood transfusion would've gone right through her.

The other kitties were worried when we left...when I came back with an empty blanket, one shrieked...

She helped me through so much, by simply purring on my chest while I cried in pain, so determined...she just didn't want to go, but nothing could change reality.

Tara passed away 7-23-08. I miss my childhood dream kitty - I did a pastel of a persian calico as a kid, it hangs over my bed. I'm thankful I had almost 4 months to say goodbye to her...but the pain of her loss isn't lessened.

Love you, Tara girl. Play in the fields, play in the sand by the ocean, near the Rainbow Bridge with my other beloved passed on pets.

its good that you sat down and wrote all of this out.
losing an animal is one of the hardesnt things to do in life.
i myself have cried harder over a family pet passing then a lot of other things.

I'm terribly sorry for your best friend loss. I just lost an animal I had 18 years. It hurts so much, doesn't it? I can't believe how much these animals become one with our lives.

Thru working with hospice patients who have
died then come back, everyone of them saw pets
in the bright light, so I started researching Pets
In Heaven. This is what I have concluded:

Angels send their pets to earth, for what reason,
I do not know, anyway, when that animal dies, it
goes to its Angel owner to tell all about the food they
ate and what they saw, favorite toys.....All information
is passed onto the Man, if that animall was abused
in any way a dark cloud of bad karma follows the scum.

i feel your loss and i wish you peace. be easy on yourself, you provided all your little friend needed, and you two went thru it together. your kitty has started a journey into the final phase of life, and we all will follow, in her furry little paw prints, in our own time. she was a star on earth, now she's a star in heaven.

sorry about you cat man, i have had a cat that has had cancer. Her name was Misty and had cancer and was truely hard on me to sit by her day after day watching her in pain after having her for 10 years, makes me tear up to this day thinking about her

its a shame that some of our best friends do not live as long as we do, keep in mind that you loved her and that she is in a better place free from pain. its sad to think about losing a friend, but im sure there is another kitty that needs you just as bad. be strong . much love.

Tarra is free,

Saved to live, to love and to pass after a fulfilling life.

You gave that to Tarra Absynthe, and Tarra gave back all she had.

Unfortunatly, while we do all we can to provide the very best care, there comes a time when they must leave us.

While our hearts are filled with the loss and pain, there is a reason which we can only guess, and with hope there is someone else who needed that dedication and love in another plane and Tarra was chosen to fill that void.

Perhaps it is some one with us now who needed a kittens love, perhaps it is with someone who passed before and Tarra resides within the bounds of Heaven, sharing love.

Today my heart is sad, sad for your loss, but hopfully with time, the memories of pain and loss shall turn into memories of love, play and companionship.

You are a blessing Absynthe, a blessing to other animals in need, a person who will continue to give of one's self to aid the defenseless. To rescue others who would not enjoy a full life with love.

Cry and heal, remember the love, kindness and comfort shared, then when your healing is complete, perhaps another needy soul will find you and again share their special life with you.

I know I can only share these words, but they are heart felt as I have experienced the same loss many times and shall do so over and over again.

I am so sorry to read this.
May Tara be playing with the other cats now pain free that have left us.

This stuff is hard for me to read, but a reality of having Cats and Dogs.

We still have the memories, the pictures that will stay forever.

Take relief in knowing that while Tara was here, you & your Family gave her everything she needed to be happy. You will feel this loss forever but time does fade the pain. Someday. you will be able to think & talk about her without sadness & tears. Until then, know she is painfree & looking down at her Human Family with much PRIDE!

oh how i feel for you i too lost my kitty 'lexi' this week thought letely we ve been callin her lex luther .i feel terrible as i didnt know anytthing was wrong we jus found her dead undersome furniture outside i hope she wasnt in a lot of pain though i dont think so as she was eating ice cream and milk with me the day before she passed ...anyway i hope this goes easy for you losin our lil loved ones is so difficult as they give to us unconditionally
