She had gotten something called Giardia.... spent over 1000 $ and she got no better.... she was suffering, had lost a lot of weight and antibiotics were not working so had to make the choice

That's terrible. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I've read where Giardia is present in most urban or wild streams because of fecal contamination from animals & humans. It's tragic that the antibiotics didn't work. But, you did the right thing and your dog is not suffering any more.

Sorry to hear about your pet :ssad: Giardia is in most bodies of water. I didn't know it could get that bad. Your pet was very lucky to have someone like you to love and take care of it.

I'm so sorry for you. We've all been there, and it just hurts like hell for a while. You gave your dog a great life, and then when it was time, you sacrificed your heartbreak, to ease him out of pain, and into a much better place.

Not a much greater gift you ever could have given him, and I'm sure he knows that, as he waits to reunite with you, that someday, at the end of the Rainbow Bridge.

So Sorry longhairpokem- My heart hurts for you. Anyone who has had to make this decision
knows how hard it is. If you remember, your dog had a much loved & happy life.
YOU gave everything you could & your dog knew. The best in the end, was to let him
rest. The gift you chose for him, was to end his pain & suffering. That is what Love is-
thinking of your pet & having to put your sadness aside. Memories will be the Gift that
he left with you. Think of the Happy times & Keep him close in your Heart!

I am proud that you had the strength to do the right thing, even though I am sure it ripped your heart out.

Words dont work very well, but time will.... just remember all the good times for now...and I know there were LOTS of them.....

I'm so sorry for your loss longhairpokem. It really is unfortunate. But even though it hurts, you can take comfort in knowing that you did the right thing. I don't think i can even begin to imagine the pain you must be going through, pets are more than just animals, they're family. My condolences again.

I'm So sorry to hear of your loss. It's a hard thing to do, but humane . . due to the suffering! I had to put down my beloved Manx/Siamese male cat - age 17 + 4 months, "Whiskers", that I had since he was born (he was my best Pet Friend)! It as SO hard on me, but I gave him lotsa love & a nice funeral at Zuma Beach! I still miss him . . . after 15 yrs., now!!! He went in March, 1994. I also lost my Bird Pet Friend, of 23 yrs., "Sunshine", a grey Cockatiel, male, that I got when he was about 6 months old, just a couple of weeks ago on 2-3-09, after he got sick very suddenly, and died in my hands, trying to help him! I cried, SO much for him and still miss his bird sounds in the morning and day! Our Pet Friends are family, and it's hard when they leave us! We need to greive, then heal and get other Pet Friends (to help the grieving process)! Take Care. =Judy=

Lost my 9 year old Golden Retriever yesterday. Luckily he just went to sleep on his own in the middle of the night.
I know the pain you are feeling. I was more attached to that loyal companion then most humans I know.

Animals offer a kind of compassion that does not exist in human beings. I've always felt a stronger connection with my dogs (and dogs in general) than with most people I know. No matter what breed, if I am out somewhere, or at a party, I spend most of my time with my four-legged, tail-wagging friends.

Just remember, the thing that you loved so much about your Pup is that she was happy as long as you were happy. So, feel this. Reach out as you have . . . that is what we're all here for . . . it's a community. But, don't deny yourself the joy of rescuing a new furry friend . . . when you're ready of course . . . it is what she would've wanted . . . and, at the same time, it is what the world needs.

The loss of a pet is the loss of a family member.

When my guy lost his life due to congestive heart failure he left an emptiness that evidenced silence is sometimes deafening. There are times I think I see him in a flash, or hear him cough.

I had a dream where he was trying to climb on the bed and couldn't get up but kept up scratching and trying to climb. . Have old antique bed that is high off the floor and he had steps to get up on the bed in is senior years; they were gone. Anyway, guess what I am saying to you is that if you are lucky enough he will come to visit you in months or years to come. Sometimes in a dream.

Anyway, please accept my condolences and be with your grief so that you can feel the pain to move on.
