Hi all,
I've had puppy envy on here for a while, with all the fine photos folks have posted. We have two cats already, but today, we added Roxy to our family! She's all of about 8 months old, and is a true rescue story. I was told she is a mix of Terrier, German Shepherd, and Chow, but I see some Lab in her. Whatever, she's a great dog, and we love her so much already. Her's a photo taken today:

Jeff, that's just awesome. She's a beauty and she resembles my shelter dog! Don't you just feel so happy that you have given her a loving home? She will return your love tenfold. Take care!

Congrats! I've had dogs (Great Danes) continuously since 1967, except for one 6 month period, first half of 2001, when we moved to Holland. I couldn't stand to be daneless any longer than that!

She is a beauty!
I am assuming you got her from a shelter,
at least I hope so.
Never Never go to a breader or pet store to
buy an animal, never buy an animal on-line
this is the worst. Here in Indio there is a culture of
people purposely and constantly breed their poor
dogs to death just to sell them to any fool. I will
go to the flea market and see many puppys for sale.
A mother dog will look for their pups for years sometimes
after they are taken away.

Ceasar Milan has a great dog food out. Spots Stew is
one of my favorites when I foster parent dogs.

Jeff, you lucky dog!
I want one, too. Gotta figure out how not to freak out my kitty.
She thinks she owns the place.
I ask her to pay some rent then, but her last check bounced.
So I am planning to save a doggy soon.
How are your cats taking it?
Roxy has the sweetest face I've ever seen.

Thanks everyone for the kind wishes! I'm still working on getting the cats to accept Roxy. It's just Roxy's 2nd day in our home, and I think it's just gonna take some time.

Roxy was abandoned by her first family who lost their home to foreclosure and moved away leaving her tied up in the backyard. The next door neighbors rescued her from there, but couldn't keep her. Through a family member we found out about her, and agreed to adopt her. We've already become attached to her, and her to to us (she's currently got her head resting on my left foot as I type this).

Our first stop on the way home with her yesterday was PetSmart for new collars, leash, bowls, food, toys. It was kinda funny, because we still had her on the original rope leash that she came to us with, and of all days, our local PetSmart was having a dog fair adoption day, so there were all these German Shepherds and other big dogs on each side of the entrance I had to get her through to get into the store, and some were barking, excited to see Roxy. It was a real "movie" like moment of tension, where she was afraid and resisted going forward, and I was afraid her old collar or the rope leash might break, but I talked, and walked, her through it.

Thanks again for all the loving thoughts and words. My next big adventure with Roxy will be going to the Vet next week. I'm so happy to have this great dog in our lives.

I say a few more days at the most.. and the cats will stop acting so pissed and jealous.
It's a great process to watch, it will be fine.

I have done it many many many times.

...and no cats or dogs were ever hurt in the process....

Soon those cats will be chasing and playing with Roxy all thru the house... all hell will break loose but it's a BLAST to watch...
