Hi guys,
even though im not a current resident of california, I will be moving to the san diego-carlsbad area near the first of the year. I just wanted to ask a few questions on obtaining a medical card. And although im sure that most of you aren't doctors and can't assess my situation or what illness I might have, I was just wondering if its possible for a person who's had problems with opiate addiction in the past to qualify for MMj treatment??You see im currently taking methadone(deathadone), and I would really like to discontinue the use of the methadone and possibly begin a medical marijuana treatment program?Is it possible for a person whos smoked marijuana for over 25 years, socially.To start using it as a medical form of treatment?Or do I need to have a bad back or some type of mental illness to qualify?I don't mean to insult anyone who has severe pain or someone who might feel that my situation is not dire enough to warrant the use of medical marijuana. I just know that I feel better and am alot happier when using marijuana as a form of medicine.And I would like to be able to do that legally. thanks for any input you might have

If your doc understands the benefits of MJ, he can recommend you for it for any symptom or condition which he feels can be alleviated by THC. The wording of the law does not confine the applications of MJ to a strict set of conditions. However, I think in most cases doctors want to be able to state a chronic persistent condition for needing Marijuana. Opiate withdrawal, in that case, may not qualify. I'm no authority on the subject however.. so we'll see what others have to say..

hey there, i'm takeing methadone for pain, it work's great for pain,but i'm afraid that i'm already addicted as a matter of fact i know i am . i have been on opiates for pain for the last 10 years and i'm a recovering addict , i also take as directed by my dr. but i use mmj so i can cut back on the methadone cause i'm on fenynal patch too. i haven't had an increace in methadone in 4 years i'm on 80 mg a day and 125 mig of fenynal and mmj any sane person would be out like a light, but not me!! wanna hear something funny!! i had to go in for an indoscope to look at my stomach and my throt oh yea they found out where i was bleeding [ i knew it wasn't in my head] from any way. when the doc was giveing me the demeral[he's looking right at me and i'm talking to him like always so] he hit's the versiad [ thats the stuff thats puts you out] and nothing i'm still talking like nothing happen ,he hit's it again nothing , he had to give me three times the amount it would have nomally took to knock someone out. addiction!!! i'm like a frenkin sponge for thats shit expspecialy iv form. i sure glad i don't have to go threw detox again not in this life time anyway!! if you went and show the dr, that you have been on methadone and want to take mmj instead , i think that might work if you show the records that the dr. has you on methadone. i went to medicann in merced and got a discount when i showed my medical card and it only cost me 60 bucks for a year,. and the doc was great. i have chonic pain and i'm terminal. i would give them a call and ask them what you need good luck and hang in man fuck that herion man it's all an illustion anyway it's not real. i'm endlessky and crank killed me just 20 years later. and their but for the grace of god go I. BE GRATEFULL I AM

And crank too.. let me ask you, which was harder to kick, the crank or the H?

I've been into Oxy, Vicodin, and Fentanyl (transdermal patches)-- illegitimately as well as doctor prescribed.. Had the Mexi-tar type heroin once and I'm very glad it didn't come around again and I never went looking for more.. The pills were a little hard to kick, but not near as hard as giving up meth.. That stuff owned me for a few years..

thanks for the replies hey endlesssky I think your what they refer to as an (opiate tolerate patient) don't get me wrong i,ve done my fair share of opiates ie: oxys, ms-contin(morphine),Fentynal,demerol diladid,vics,percs, lortabs, the ugly white horse itself in many forms (china white, mexican black tar,afghani brown, mexican karachi, all of em, but i,ve been on methadone since dec16 2003, hopefully that will be enough paperwork to show the docs?? I myself don't ever wanna go through what herion put me through, and I have no intentions of ever using that crap again or any opiates for that matter. I used meth and coke quite a bit in my younger days "(im 41) not a relic but not a punk either". and I,ll have to say that it wasn't too hard to drop the speed and coke but the smack was another story terrible terrible times, With the methadone I can work , save cash, function in society,and just generally be a more trusthworthy person. but I really understand that I can't be on methadone forever, that is why I wanna start mmj treatment. I know its healthier, and with some of the strains I see on these boards) I've actually had some legendary strains such as the P91, hoggsbreath,millenium bud, cali-orange,romulan, just to name a few; it has to be better medicine than I'm forced to deal with where I live now ,,, Nothin but low to mid-grade mexican, except for this time of year (oct,nov,dec):smile2:Harvest time. its just a pity the rest of our great country isn't as progressive as cali is regarding medicinal marijuana. thats one of the main reasons Im moving,, ohh yea and the warm weather helps too.Anyway at least someones got it together in the good old usa

hi there and yes i'm opiate and mmj tolorant, unknow i really had to take a long hard look at how i use my medicine. and how much and when i stop . because i can use something to the point of it not working for me anymore. thank god thier are so many different stains i can choose from!! but i still want to be carefull . i guess i just don;t like anything haveing control over me. i do my bills and food and animals and my partner first before my meds, oh yea we do get her med's first also. so if i start to make deals with myself and my partner about how much and if it becomes more important than anything eles i will have to stop step back and reevaluate my situation. i have to have boundries. because i abused my right to use it properly before and it can happen again if i'm not carefull and have a few rules in tact . just in case of emergency. i don;t want to go back to who i was when i used. i don;t like that person i become . so i should take care in what and how much and why. cause if i' useing it to get away from myself or my situation, that's bad new's. and i know it can happen in a blink of an eye. i have to stay honest with myself and others and my sperituality[ i still can't spell] is in the right place i will be ok in all situation's. so everyday i check in with myself to see if alls well i probroly do this to much. i don't want to miss a thing, so i don;t nessisarly want to get blasted all the time. i have learned to love life and everyday is a blessing to me!! i don;t have a lot of people in my life right now. the being is that i'm sick and because of the nature of a brain infection is a lot of dementia, and i found out that . that's a hard row to hoe for people who are on the outside looking in. cause everyone left. i only had a couple anyway. i guess you find out who your friends are when your dying cause it's a very personal and private thing and it must be to hard to watch. i don;t think i would make the same discentions that they have. as a matter of fact i know i would be their for my friend's anytime they asked or my family and thats sayin something . i woud never abandend anyone. but that's me i'm just loylar i guess. anyway i'm ramblying again sorry. good luck lolendlessky
