What's up everyone? It's been 5 months since I last shot dope. Most people would be embarassed or ashamed to even admit to ever doing such a horrible thing to themselves as sticking themselves with needles 3x daily for over 9 years but I on the other hand will never allow myself to forget where I was at in my life the day before Halloween 2007. Since then I have re-established a close relationship with my family, got my old job back, got promoted & a raise, working on seeing my kids now that I can be a decent role model. With all these rewards of my sobering I also cannot afford to overlook the mistakes I've also made. I have a real quick temper. What I'm wondering is how do I make amends to somebody who never listens and while I'm talking to him it seems that all he is doing, instead of listening to what I say, is thinking about what he is gonna say next. Anyhow, I'm sure it will come to me later on in my recovery when I can fully appreciate it. Thanks for reading my thread.

I never got into that shit luckily. Two of my friends did and when they would be hitting the shit pipe they would always offer me a hit but I wouldnt try it. I would just smoke my herb and I liked herb so much that nothing seemed better then being stoned and I saw what it did to them and I didnt want to go down that path. I also like to sleep so that doesnt float my boat. I hate meth because my best friend had to move to the east coast with his family to get away from that shit and now I dont see him anymore. But good luck to you on staying off that shit.

i hate to tell ya this but there's plenty of meth on the east coast too. i moved HERE to get away from the east coast meth. found coke to use instead of the meth!

congrats PNPL, meth is one hell of a drug, i just didnt know so many people in the weedtracker community struggled with it in the past.i mean i know it has certianly become somewhat of an epidemic in the us. but wow didnt think it was that big, and so many people have had problems with it!

I also have 5 months clean off of Meth. No meetings or sponsors. I traded the 12 step approach for the 1 step approach. I simply stopped. Now, I'm dealing with the consequences of years of drug abuse. Severe Anxiety, Depression, Boredom. I feel so low sometimes I just want to end it and have to keep reminding myself that I'm not thinking clearly and that it's the addictive part of my mind that is telling me I can't survive without getting high.

The hardest part is dealing with the mental health issues without insurance. I have a refill of xanax left but am careful with that stuff as it can be an addiction of it's own. I really need some therapy but can't afford it right now.

It's funny how addiction tricks the mind and depletes it of it's chemical balance. My serotonin and dopamine levels are going haywire even though it's 5 months later. It's not easy. I still think about getting high but have been strong enough thus far to stay away.

I only support rehab for those individuals who choose to put themselves there. If you don't want to do it for yourself, you probably won't succeed. This is whythe success rate for 12 step is about 5% and the success rate for stopping on your own is about 5%.

i am so glad for you!! it's not easy at all, i did shot meth for a short time right after my son was born in 84 and it killed me and now they won;t even put me on the liver transplant list, i got HEP C from shareing needle's ] i didn;t know any betterback then, i was not aware of AIDS or hep c at all, or safe practices, the safest was to never try it at all. now i have less then a year to live , but i say what to they know anyway, they told me two years ago i had 6 mo to a year left, but i reduced my med intake of phamacuticls and my liver doe's a little better, but my viral load is real high along with my ammonia level is high too, i just take one day at a time, and try and be gratfull for all i have, and watch what i eat and what the dr try and give i cheak and recheck all meds. they make alot of mistakes the nurses and DR's and we have to be a our oun advacate with these blow hard DRs anyway good job, i have been clean for 15 years or so except for mmj, see ya Endlesssky

I couldn't imagine what it must have been like to have addictions like that. I've never tried anything aside from ganja, not even cigarettes. The thought of hard drugs, especially meth, just makes me cringe.

Congratulations on your many achievements, most of all getting off the meth! Also congrats to the other people in this thread who have done it. You are all inspiring people.

That is a very common communication roadblock. It could either be because it's simply this person's conversational style, or because he is not open to listening to you right now. If the former, I personally tend to call people on it. For example, to my husband I might say "I have something really important to talk to you about, so if you could let me get through what I have to say, then afterwards we can talk about your concerns." (Or whatever.)

If the latter, well, hopefully time will take care of that.
