Stein better known as Dick, 32, a chauvinist playboy with unlimited physical (Girth) and financial resources finds himself trapped in the body LA's biggest mouth, Mary Jane. They have 30 days (and nights) to figure out how to see things from the others' point of view or else they will never see it from their own point of view again.

I need to start a new script this quarter and have it finished before summer. This is the idea I came up with last night. Let me know what you think.

Don't want to rain on your parade, but it sounds a lot like the film "Switch" with Ellen Barkin and Jack Nicholson. Pretty much the same premise.

I'll have to watch that movie...I think the concept I have in my head is going to be different than anything that already exists besides some of the scenes revolve around MMJ. I'm going to definitely watch that movie though and HotChick too. I haven't seen either. Neither are probably in the same comic vein that I'm aiming for. But the research will be good for me.

I have a title for this piece but it might be seen as offensive to some members so I will not post it.

I just rented Switch. Jack Nicholson is NOT in it. Jimmy Smits is the co-star. I remember seeing this on television when I was younger. In it ONLY Steve gets put into a woman's body, Amanda (who had no existence before the switch). He's a notorious lady's man, and a sexist chauvinist pig. There's no heaven or hell in my screenplay or pregnancy either.

my premise differs in that there will be two people switching bodies: Mary Jane, a feminist beauty (5'3 115lbs) and Dick, a chauvinist playboy (6'5 280lbs). He's rich, she's poor. He has a company to protect. He has a career to promote. She's an injured medical marijuana patient. He's deathly afraid of hospitals and doctors.

I'm researching body switching movies to make sure I don't do what's already been done. So far, I haven't found one where a male chauvinist switches bodies with a feminist beauty. If know of any let me know.

I'm doing a search and found a movie called "Dating the Enemy"...I'll have to check that out too.

As far as mmj....my lead character's name isn't Mary Jane for no reason. I'd love to explore this theme further.

Thanks, Stanley. I rented that movie and watched it. It NOT the kind of movie I'm looking to write. In that film only one guy is trapped in a woman's body (this woman did NOT exist in the movie before the switch)...Also the description on movie (and consequently on netflix) is misleading. In the movie the audience never actually sees this womanizer leaving women in his wake. All we see is he is invited over to one of his Girl's house for a "party" where there are two of his other girls there too. They kill him, first by trying to drown him and then by shooting him. This all happens in the first 10 minutes of the movie.

Actually the movie I was referring to is called "DATING the enemy" it's an Australian film where are couple switches bodies. It's sounds similar but I can't rent it here in America...I'm going to assume no one in America has seen it.

I definitely want to explore MMJ within this movie. I think it's important to include in this script, since it's a big part of my life.

I've got a lot of work to do on it before it will be a good script but I think I have a solid idea of where I want to take this movie.

I've heard that before and it totally makes sense. I guess I should explain how my movie is different than other body snatching movies.

I've been working out many of the details. This is what I know so far from questions I've received from others:

1. Why would Mary want to return to her body if it's so limiting?

besides not wanting to be stuck in a big, hairy, smelly man's body for the rest of her life. she needs to get back in her body before her pitch meeting with MTV for her own show. he needs to get back in his body before a deposition to save his company which is being threatened by Rochester, Ex business partner.

2. 30 days -- why? That number is arbitrary.

both these events occur 30 days after the switch.


3. What do they have to accomplish to get back into the others' body?

they have to fully understand and appreciate things from the other's point of view.


4. Who/what makes this transformation happen?

SO MARY IS A BIG MOUTH? DOES SHE HAVE A PLATFORM TO SPEAK HER MIND, TO PISS OFF PEOPLE LIKE DICK? IS SHE A BLOGGER, NEWSPAPER COLUMNIST, TALK RADIO HOST, ETC.

she has a popular video blog which is being considered for a MTV show based off her online personality. Her video blog is also kicking up a lot of mud in Dick's direction after they meet.


AND CONVERSELY, IS DICK A LARGER THAN LIFE REPRESENTATION OF HIS POV, LIKE A YOUNG HUGH HEFNER? THE MORE WE FEEL THEY ARE DIRECT OPPOSITES, THE MORE FUN.

yes Dick is a young Hugh Hefner and he is physically larger-than-life at 6'5 280lbs. The are physically, financially, and personality wise opposites.


DO THEY MEET EACH OTHER BEFORE SWITCHING BODS?

Yes, they meet page-one at an MTV screening of the pilot "LA's Biggest Dick", Dick's new reality MTV show. They switch bodies on page 30 and have just over 60 pages to switch back. The first 30 pages we see just how big of a Dick he is and we see how big her mouth is. (More about their arcs further down)

WHEN IN SCRIPT DO THEY SWITCH?
Pg 30, end of act I.

HOW WILL YOU EXTERNALIZE THE BULLSEYE TARGET OF "SEEING THINGS FROM THE OTHERS' POV?" WHAT WILL THIS LOOK LIKE ON SCREEN? SO WE KNOW THEY'RE ACCOMPLISHED THEIR GOAL?

in the first 30 pages Mary Jane rejects the line of work Dick is involved with. before the switchback she's enhanced his business. in the first 30 pages she is emotionally, physically, and financially unstable and before the switchback she has full control over her emotions, her body, and her money. In the first 30 pages, she will tell anyone anything. Before the switchback she uses discretion. In the first 30 pages, She bites her finger nails; and She says "Don't be a Dick, Dick"; By the end, she doesn't do these things anymore. Towards the end (before the switch) she says "Don't be a Richard, Richard". She goes from calling him Dick to Richard (as he asked her to do in the beginning).

in the first 30 pages Dick does not willingly offer to physically or financially help Mary Jane. Or be emotionally supportive. After the switch he uses his resources to help her but only because he's trapped in her body. Before the switch-back he offers continued help and support. in the first 30 pages, he's deathly afraid of doctors offices and hospitals before the switchback he overcomes his fear. He also smokes cigarrettes and tell MJ "Close your mouth. I'm talking right now". By the end he does smoke and tells MJ "Close your mouth, I want to kiss you"

SO IF THEY DON'T "SEE THINGS FROM OTHERS' POV" THEY WILL STAY TRAPPED IN BODY?

WILL MARY & DICK WIND UP ROMANTICALLY TOGETHER?

he romantically pursues her from the beginning because she's such a challenge to him. Once he seduces her on page 30 they switch bodies. At the end of the movie they will be in LOVE (sorta)


WHAT WILL ACT TWO LOOK LIKE? ONCE THEY'RE SWITCHED, WHAT THINGS WILL THEY DO.

the pleasure and pain of being trapped in the opposite sexes' body. raging hormones. In the body of Dick (mj) must defend Dick's business from his disgruntled ex business partner, Rochester, who threatens Dick's finances and reputation. All the while with an MTV reality TV crew buzzing around.

In the body of MJ (D) Must persuade MTV to sign MJ to a new series of her own. D already has his own MTV reality TV show, LA's Biggest Dick.

In the body of MJ (D) must also overcome his fear of doctors and hospitals. there are several visits to doctors including a medical marijuana MD, the ER, and medical marijuana dispensary.

they also have to experience being hit on by the same sex even though they're in different bodies. In the body of Dick (MJ) must figure out what to do with the woman. In the body of MJ (D) get over his homophobic insecurities.


--WHO IS THE ANTAGONIST THAT IS THEIR BIGGEST OBSTACLE?

MJ's antagonist is PAIN (or Doctors) & Finances
D's antagonist is Rochester (ex business partner)


WHAT ARE THEIR ARCS?

She goes from a, nail-biting, helpless victim with a big mouth to a responsible leader.
He goes from a, cigarette smoking, selfish playboy to a white knight.


WHAT DO THEY LEARN BY BEING IN EACH OTHER'S BODY?

It sucks to be the opposite sex, so we should be nice to them so it doesn't suck so bad.

how about a story about a woman that spying on her lover because she thinks he's cheating with a woman named Mary and long story short she ends up catching him in a hotel room thinking she's got him by the balls only to find out that Mary is MMJ and he has to go the great lengths to hide his secrect affair with the love of his life, the only woman that understands and loves him for him. the only woman that truely makes him feel good and takes his cares away doesn't add to the list of crap he's got to deal with.

what do you think? can you work that one into something? let me know if you need any details to be filled in because minus the whole cheater's theme it's my life..jk.

I'm almost done with the first draft of this script. I've gotten some good feedback from my class. I'm hoping to have a fully functional first draft by July 1.
