Good New Sci-Fi Book?

Hi Everyone,

It's been a while since I've read a great science-fiction novel, and I'd love some suggestions if anyone has any. I love most books by Arthur C. Clarke, Frank Herbert, Isaac Asimov, William Gibson, Huxley and Orwell.
I've got some free time coming up, and I'd love to be able to dive into a good story. Any suggestions?

It's not new, but I just started re-reading the L. Ron Hubbard's "Mission: Earth" series of books. I've never read the scientology stuff of his, and Battlefield Earth was rather dissappointing (the book.. let's not even get started on what a piece of crap the movie was), BUT... his Mission: Earth decology of books has a great cast of characters that you just gotta love/hate. And I can honestly say that it's one of my favorite book(s).

I'd say give it a shot, and if you like the first book.... there's another 9 of them to read.

Nepeta says..Pay no attention to what you just read. It's just my fingers typing out the chaos in my head again. Move along.. nothing to see here.
