I can't help it. I have a thing about fish. Especially koi and goldfish because they are so human. :)

Just thought I'd share some of my favorite works that I've done of Goldfish....

This is Hermione, my Short Tailed Ryukin. She's getting into the season by impersonating a Christmas ornament.

Diving to let me know it's time for lunch.

Absolutely stunningly beautiful artwork. How about some human studies because, perhaps, they're so much like fish?

Used to work in a tropical fish store; we carried a large assortment of goldfish and koi.

I don't know which to be most impressed with ... the beautiful artwork or that you know what a Ryukin is!

LOL! Thankie you! I can go on and on about the joys of fancy goldies. I have a spawn of "Ranchukin" that I'm growing out right now. I speak Pearl Scale and Oranda too. But the high backed Ryukin are my absolute favorites. Such characters....:partysmile:

Digital watercolor? So you can do this artwork on line somehow, rather than traditional brush, paints, and canvas?

Here's Merlin, one of my longfin koi. I always quarantine my new additions in large aquariums for several months before introducing them to the main pond, so we get plenty of time to get acquainted through the glass. Merlin is one of those kind of fish that, right from the beginning, just can't leave you alone because he always has something to say! Granted, it's usually about food. Heck, 99.9% of the time it's about eating or wanting to eat....

This is Bindi, and she's one of my more personable koi who uses charm and pure wide-eyed will to command a meal, or even a snack...

And this is the Tigerlily, who is letting me know right up front that her digs are waaaaay too small.....

No, I don't work my majick online. I have several programs (Corel Graphics Suite, Adobe, PainterX) that I work with on my computer, and each of them have huge assortments of brushes and filters and textures and all sorts of stuff to paint and manipulate pixels with. Basically and in a real small nutshell, I begin with photographs, blow the pixels apart and then fill them back in by hand. It's more than that, but that's the easiest answer to a complex subject.

I have a very nice professional printer with which I make prints on fine archival stock. I also have tee shirts printed, and right now I'm getting ready for the holidays with tee shirts, and maybe a calendar and greeting cards if I have time. This will be going on a shirt soon, I'm sure:

Not the usual holiday cheer, but oddly reflective....

Koi are beautiful and impressive when they get over 36". But even if they don't get that big, Goldfish have an elegance all their own. Here's my Panda Oranda, a respectable 8" long.

A real character, just like Hermione.
