Rep Power: 289750 | Why Am I Getting This Pain After a day on the computer, I have a horrible pain sometime on my breastbone on the same side as the arm I use for the mouse. It sets in at night During the day I don't have it. Could it be my posture while sitting? zb |

Rep Power: 82323 | Re: Why Am I Getting This Pain It sounds like it's a posture thing to me, especially since you get it after being on the computer. Ergonomics is an important concept. A simple test to try, although it may be awkward, is move your mouse to the other side of the computer and use the opposite hand for it. You'll have to get used to using like the ring finger for the LMB, and index finger for RMB, assuming you were using the mouse right handed, and now would be left handed. You can do something in the computer setup to switch the mouse to left handed, but you just need to do it for one day to see if the pain is lessened or absent when you get off the computer, so you may not want to fuss with that. Then you'll know it is an ergonomics issue with posture and setup. If you're still using a mouse with a roller ball in the bottom or a tracking beam, that is, a mouse that you have to move around with your hand and arm, then switching to a stationary mouse with a roller ball on the top might help, if it comes down to a mouse motion type injury. |

Rep Power: 186656 | Re: Why Am I Getting This Pain I'm no Doctor zb, but some are taking Ergonomic Exercises For Computer Users seriously to avoid repitition damage. I take many breaks during the day to get up and just walk around, get some sunshine or fresh air and stretch. My issue is lower and due to a warn out desk chair, so saving my coxis saves my back too... I hope it is nothing more serious. |

Rep Power: 289750 | Re: Why Am I Getting This Pain Thanks, I have seen those chairs. Yes, they are called Ergonomic Chairs. What is bothering me is the constant movement of my right arm. I need to keep my right elbow up, and quit moving my entire arm and just use my wrist. Thanks again, zb |

That is my issue also except I get spasms in my right shoulder/neck. If it seems to be a chest muscle there is a great Pec stretch I use when sore post work out. I use either a doorway or a corner wall and then place my arms at shoulder height, hands up and lean into the muscle gently. That stretches the pec muscles... http://physicaltherapy.about.com/od/...PecStretch.htm | |
