Rep Power: 39 | Preventive medicine Hey Guys, I just had surgery on my right elbow yesterday. It's my primary (right) arm and I thought I should share some insight on this condition and try and warn some folks on bad habits that can cause you problems later in life. Most folks that know me are aware of my eye conditions, it's call KC and I'm loosing my sight slowly. I'm also what they consider " a glaucoma suspect" due to high ocular pressures. Any who, that's just background, what I'm dealing with now is serious nerve damage. Most of us know about carpal tunnel but we never discuss cubital tunnel syndrome. It's a real BITCH! Your arms and fingers go numb due to compression on your ulnar nerve. I had surgery on my left arm last year. Extremely invasive surgery and feels and looks like a shark bite. I just had my right arm done yesterday and thought maybe I could help some folks avoid this problem. Rule 1 : Stop resting your left arm out the car window - compress the ulnar nerve ( funny bone) Rule 2: avoid sleeping on your stomach with your arms under your head! So man of us sleep like this and it's a major issue with this condition. I hope this puts some insight on CTS. Your arms feel serious pain and numbness that's not "fun" to say the least. Be careful out there! BTW - I find that variations of PURPLE(S) help the most with surgical pain. Here's a few thumbnails... I was looking forward to getting my Ulner nerve fixed, but not now, after seeing those pics. Good thing that surgery is s few years off. I have some really nasty scars already, but those are just plain vicious. | |

Rep Power: 576 | Re: Preventive medicine Thanks for the heads up man! I no longer drive, but when I did, I was always hanging my arm out the window. A few years ago I started sleeping on my stomach so I wouldn't snore. Forget that! I'd much rather go get the little "deviated septum" surgery done to deal with the snoring, than to have to deal with that shit! Good luck to you & heal quickly! |
