| Let's talk about pain management and strains Ok, I'm very uneducated when it comes to strains and general MMJ info. I know when I smoke I feel better and I can function better with sativas and anything with the word "wreck" in strain name has always "wrecked" me fairly easily. Other than that, I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this sort of thing. And I know you all are very informed and ready and willing to help a sister out. So thanks in advance. I'm a full-time student at a demanding university and need to be able to function while medicated during the day and want to be mobile (not melted/"wrecked" to the couch) in the evenings. As limiting as it is to have nerve issues (and pain) in both arms and back pain, I like to be as active as possible...I was always active before my injury. So, I take that into consideration when looking for a good pain med. I've always liked diesels & purples. I tried "goo", the strain and it was a super good high but it did make me feel sleepy. I really like the advice Living Green gave me in this post: WeedTRACKER I'm looking for pain-relieving stain recommendations for day & night time. List your recommendations here, please. |

Im going to be a patient for life and I have also been smokin half my life so I have been able to find my way pretty well in these last 3 and a half years as a patient. I would have to say hands down to find a good version of some sour diesel. I noticed you mentioned you like diesels.....and Ive heard that Diesel is more of an Indica but I could be wrong....but Sour Diesel Is a nice Sativa, and thats what you described the way you want to feel. I would deffinatley say besides the usual sour diesel and train wrek that I would go with something nice like Kali Mist or Strawberry Cough...I have had these at top shelf quality and they twisted my cap like you wouldnt believe.....another favorite is Lambs Bread but have not seen that in a while....Snow Cap is great to stay awake and energetic on and so is Sensi Star especially done right.....these are some very strong sativa's and actually some of my favorite....If I am getting a Sativa something for morning durring the day I like Sour Diesel Personally but would reccomend Snow Cap to blaze if your hurting and need to study! Also another bomb strain is green crack but it has to be done right.....its a hybrid but I have had it to where my feet were numb. Hope this is of help and happy smokin |

Edibles are inconsistant (especially down here in so cal) and they tend to be messy in my bookbag.

Rep Power: 10 | I have a recipe for snickerdoodles that are quite tasty and portable. Kept in the fridge they last a while, put them in a baggy and go - no mess. Very tasty! I am in the SO Cal area. |

| Re: Let's talk about pain management and strains I really like the eurkle I just purchased yesterday, it seems to help with the day-time pain. I've been using OG Kush Kief & Abusive OG Kush at night. All have been helpful. I hope this helps others. |

Rep Power: 21 | Re: Let's talk about pain management and strains I broke my spine in a fall. I crushed my L1 VCF and blew out 2 disc above and below the L1. I just had surgery 3 months back to replace the vertabra with a titanium cage. I can still walk - thankfully! But my back hurt like #*(&$(#*&$(*# most of the time and especially in the morning when I don't have any meds in. I prefer to use Indicas. They seem to relax the spine and back muscles and take away more pain then the average sativa. Not to say sativas aren't good for pain - just not as good as indicas I think. Sativas sometimes don't remove the constant nerve pain that I have. I like to medicate with : Pre 98 Bubba kush, most kushes do the job nicely. A good strain of Grandaddy Purple will rip that pain away. Earwax... feel free to hit me up if you like. I've been threw it all with the spine . I have a triple level fusion starting at my L2 - and abotu a 2 ft scar around my left side. I know what kind of pain your dealing with. I've been stuck with it for 2 years here. Hit me up if you need... sometimes getting closer to the surgery can become a bit overwhelming. I know mine was scary as #*$&*&$*#. Good luck -both of ya! Quote:

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Let's talk about pain management and strains so i have a question for anyone in the nor-cal area. i tend to prefer smoking sativas because they allow me to get my shit done during the day. however, the pain in my ankle which is the reason why i smoke has gotten progressively worse (busted ligament and the bones in my ankle rubbing against each other, not pretty). what indica would you recommend out of strains that are out now? i am going to pick up some meds this weekend and would appreciate any helpful pointers. |

Recently I've been experimenting with indicas for day time & night time relief. For the day time I found Eurkle to be good. For night time, Lavender Kush (God's Gift) and Bubba Kush and green crack. I've heard Kushes praised for their pain relieving power on these boards before. Best advice is to try grams of different stuff until you find what works best for you. Wishing you comfort and relaxation, DQ

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Let's talk about pain management and strains thanks for the heads up. i will be on the lookout for lavender kush and eurkle up this way. here is another concern, i've thought about medicating while i'm at work but i am paranoid about getting fired for doing so. i am a chef and standing on my bad ankle all day makes my job almost unbearable. i am perfectly capable of working while under the influence of my meds. would you know off-hand what my rights are in regards to this situation? |

Rep Power: 11 | Re: Let's talk about pain management and strains I just started treating my degenerative Disk problem, I don;t have much expereinece , but figured this had to be better than the zombie creating addictive drugs previously perscribed. So my first expereince was with bubba kush, i took 3 tokes and within the hour was in one of the deepest trance like states i've ever been in (and i've done a considerable amount of other things back in my college days what i didn't quite like however is the paranoia that over took me, i don;t know if it;s just my personallity or if a different strain would be better, can anyone recommend a good strain that is good for back pain that wont; make me think Stephen Colbert is sending me secret messages through the TV :)) |

Rep Power: 302 | Re: Let's talk about pain management and strains It was mentioned in one of the earlier posts, but I definitely recommend trying out Strawberry Cough. The stuff at CRC is top notch and I've enjoyed daytime medicating with it this week. It's potent, so you only need a little. I'm practicing my skills rolling pin-width... :) |

With that said, you're already on the right track with Bubba Kush, in my opinion. Specifically, many Kush varieties have potential for pain relief in my experience. Bubba Kush is one of those varieties, but due to its sativa dominance, I feel it's a bit racy in addition to comforting (my experience is that the two kind of cancel each other out). Which sounds a lot like the experience you had. On the other hand, I've had nothing but relaxing, pain-relieving experiences with strains like OG Kush, True Pure Kush (TPK), and the Planetry Kush strains. Unfortunately, all of these can be fairly hard to come by. CRC had some TPK as recently as this past weekend for an *amazingly* low donation, so I would highly recommend checking that out. As far as I know, the only place to pick up the Planeteries is at GEC and the donations are very high, but they're a great collection of strains to sample when you have the chance. My favorite is the Neptune Kush, but Jupiter Kush seems to be the favorite among patients in general and with good reason. I think you'd be pretty pleased with either of those for starters. As far as OG Kush and other Kushes go, I'm not sure who's got what right now, but have a look around WT. The Kushes are pretty popular and someone always has a couple of good strains in stock.
