Quote:
*coping self statements are the emotional "cheerleaders" in coping repertoire and can help to increase your sense of personal control and efficiency.
*"locus of control" ("LOC") believes our judgment about whether you have an internal (within yourself) or an external (outside yourself) sense of control over your pain situation.
*" self efficiency"believes our judgment about your ability to call the shared goal related to pain management.
*coping selfstatement can be very general positive self statements, or they can be specific to the particular problem areas or "frequent-flier" automatic thoughts and beliefs.
*coping cards are used to record and display coping self statements.
~constructs a coping statement relevant to your pain situation.
~rioted on a 3 x 5 index card.
~pick a place to display the card, and refer to it often. Examples of pain related coping statements
*I tell myself that there are others who are much worse off than I am.
*to tell myself to be braving carry-on despite pain.
*I "psych" myself up to deal with the pain, perhaps by telling myself that it won't last much longer.. It is important for me didn't care at the pain.
* I tell myself I can't let the pain stand in the way of why I have to do.
*I tell myself that I can cope with the pain without an imagining or pretending anything.
*I concentrate on convincing myself that I will deal with the pain and that it will get better in the near future.
