let's talk about chiropractors and pain management

alongside MMJ, I have found chiropractors to be one of the best pain management aids in my experience.currently my workmen comp insurance company will not pay for me to see the chiropractor anymore and I'm feeling it.

Whenever my back is out of alignment it becomes difficult to manage the pain. Being out of alignment affects the nervous system as well as the muscular and skeletal parts of the body.when I am aligned have less headaches, less muscle aches, less tension, and when I'm aligned many symptoms Are alleviated.

Some insurance companies allow for a certain number of visits, on the plans. Check with your insurance company. You may be able to see a chiropractor for the cost of the co-pay.

I first went to a chiropractor, who I met why buying my medicine before I had a prescription. I was in a lot of pain, and he said he could help me as a chiropractic student. he needed hours with patients to graduate, and I really need in his services. He paid out of his own pocket for each one of my visits to his school's clinic. It was one of the best thing that could happen to me. I had to stop seeing him. Once I move from the Bay area to go to school in LA.

once I got LA, my landlord recommended it for a chiropractor in Santa Monica, And she truly was the best thing that has happened to me so far. She's helped me out in emergencies, even after the insurance companies refused to pay her, because I was in so much pain.

I'm so new to the Southern California area and not familiar with many things out here, but I'm sure it should be easy to find an affordable chiropractor and or chiropractic school.

Uh, I would not recommend a chiro for many things; I would only use one short term for a nascent alignment problem.

Chiro provides short term relief at the expense of long term complications. It;s some serious bad news that is being foisted upon a public that is seeking out alternative health care. They are not "doctors." You would be much better off with an Osteopath, who is a real doctor and can do alignments.

PM me if you want to know more.

Good post and I agree!

I'll go one step further. An x-ray does not show soft tissue damage like migrating disk material around nerves exiting the spine and an "adjustment" can cause major damage/injuries to nerves.

IMHO any spinal problems should be checked out by an expert first and if he/she concurs that Chiro is a good alternative than by all means do what works but please get an MRI first and an experts advice.

The spine is too important to take for granted and risk permanent injury.

I can't say too much here either but will share personal first hand knowledge if you or anyone else wishes via PM.

Re: let's talk about chiropractors and pain management

My chiropractor is a life saver. Without him I wouldn't be walking today, at least relatively pain free. Oh yeah, and he's affordable

Chiropractors go through med school, they just don't get pharmaceutical training, however they are still doctors. Check the degree.

The "REAL DOCTORS" that I have seen have done little to nothing for my recovery. They seem to be very symptom driving. They do very basic examinations and hand me a prescription for a drug that doesn't elevate or illuminate my symptoms (a prescription that is more likely to give me other symptoms/side effects that make functioning even harder).

The two chiropractors I have seen have treated me as a whole patient, helped me management my pain, and been the most helpful in my recovery process.

I actually went to a workshop about Chiropractors and pain management and I was completely blown away how much the alignment of our backs affects our overall well being. And it makes so much sense too. There are also some methods in telling what is bothering a person emotionally by just touching their spine.

Hi Yall:

My best fff is taking me to her magic man chiropractor today so he can do a workup and look at all my meds and also see if there is any chance to bring back my recent loss of lung function. I use edibles. In 10 years I have gone from 35% to 9%. In the past 6 weeks I went from 16% to 9%. I have a rare genetic defect of anti trypsin deficiency. He has done miracles before with homepathics. At one time I had a memobian gland problematic on my eye. Kaiser operated on it and it came back in 10 days. I used warm compresses and two of the homepathics and within 4 hours of use it drained and never came back.
One was a bacterial
and the other for inflammation.

MY friend went blind in one eye from a ruptured blood vessel behind the retina and they told her she would never see more than some shadows. She now has regained her site to almost 30%. The opthomologists (sp)cannot believe it. Will give all an update at a later time after my appt.

Wheezy, ever get the update? I pray it was good for you.

I've had both good and bad experiences with chiros and accupuncture.
The bad chiro was one who didn't pay attention to soft tissues, and I wound up with a fullblown Migraine in his office on the floor, after having both above procedures!

Later, I went to a gentle, chiro. They'd do heat packs before cracking me - but nothing violent.

I also believe a properly trained accupuncturist would help - but I don't have the money to spare.
