| Re: I Have chronic migranes . why ? this is kind of vague, but I'll try to help out :) Have you always had migraines? When did they start? Have you had any head trauma before? Have you done a food journal? Migraines stem from several different medical conditions ranging from hereditary to post head trauma, to simple reactions to certain foods. Strains that help migraines, IMO, are mainly sativa based. I have chronic hereditary migraines, and sativa's help. Indicas actually make mine worse. Hope this helps. If you haven't seen a doc yet, you really should. There may be something more serious that's causing your migraines. |

Rep Power: 62781 | try this, make sure you drink your eight cups of water per day. You're a MMJ patient right? It is so important to stay hydrated especially since marijuana tends to dry you out a little. Anything other than water tends to de-hydrate your body such as coffee, tea, soda, or anything with sugar in it. Hope this is helpfull. I would venture to say that 80% of all symptoms can be alleviated with drinking some water. I did not know how important it was until someone pointed it out to me. water is what our bodies crave. :slaugh: |

Are the migranes related to the medical benifits of MMJ, ? I sometimes get headaches after medicationg and lack of food/water. Try drinking more water while medicating.

Rep Power: 73654 | May sound too simple but I strongly suggest reducing your stress. I used to work for my Dad, very stressful environment, always had migranes, thought I must have a brain tumor or something they were so friggin bad, made me cry sometimes. This went on for several years. Quit working for him, ( THANK GOD ! ) Headaches went away !! Like magic !! It was awesome, didnt realize the corrolation till months later, but it was for real. No more stress.... no more headaches !! Good luck & God bless- STEVE-O |

Rep Power: 12 | Re: I Have chronic migranes . why ? Sour Diesel seems to work really well for migraines but are you sure these are migraines? A lot of people mistake headaches for migraines. Migraines are very intense they are NOT regular headaches. For me a migraine attack is accompanied by vomitting, dizzyness, and other very intense symptoms. I know that people who get regular headaches don't seem to find relief like migraine sufferers I've talked to. Always medicate at the onset of a migraine attack to find relief. For the last 15 years I've tried so many different methods of migraine relief and nothing works like the miracle of cannabis for me. No rebounds like traditional medicine and I'm able to function.. being one of those people that gets tremendous relief from using medical cannabis and is able to function like a regular person without having to sit in a dark room for days at a time it is very unsettling to think that some people try to say that migraines aren't a real condition to be solved with MMJ. Maybe for some people they aren't serious like they are for some of us but I'll tell ya if I would of learned about this a long time ago I would of saved myself years of suffering. |

I was poo-pooed out the door of the ER many many times(at least twice a week!) with pain medication(that did no good) and vague diagnosis'. Once they(ER) even told me I was addicted to the pain medication and THAT was causing the headaches. Now thanks to MMJ , (and a proper diagnosis) I am down to 2 mg of morph a day from a whopping 16, and mostly have control of my life back. Good luck to you and I hope you feel much better soon. also, please pm me or update this thread, I will be thinking about you and pray for you. have a blessed day. CHGRL

Rep Power: 261063 | Re: I Have chronic migranes . why ? this is a tough one. migraines stem from alot of different reasons. good luck with a doctor pin pointing it. i'll bet you an apple, they will prescribe you a coal tar based medication, and tell ya to get rest. i've suffered for 30 years of pain (migraine), i wouldn't wish on anyone. diet, stress relief, pure water, lot's of fruits and veggies, hormone free meat, stay away from chemicals and on and on and on...... start with a liver cleanse, it's free and easy and it cant hurt. we live in a toxic world, and we are very sensitive beings. there have been good suggestion in these posts. cannabis will not do much for me, if and when i'm in the middle of an "episode", but it sure does before or after a episode. also what you call migraine, may not be a migraine, but pain all the same, without a proper name. i wish you good luck on your healing, and may you find the most natural way of dealing with your pain. wishing you pain free days and nites ps, when i have a headache, smoking cannabis only makes it worse. |

Yes you must treat it at the onset of the headache look for signs and treat it. This I learned from a wonderful book "The Healing Magic of Cannabis."

Rep Power: 1020 | Re: I Have chronic migranes . why ? I recommend seeing a doctor too. This is really a diagnosis issue, not a medication issue, particularly since you are having them 24/7. Though they do this routinely, I would make sure they check your blood pressure too. Peace, Love and Wellness to you, fuzzybear. |

I agree, given your history of head trauma please see a doctor. You probably need an MRI and/or MRA to start with, which is where my doctor sent me first when evaluating my headaches.

Hope you get checked out, all day, every day migraines definitely aren't something to shrug off. I once had chest pains that I was going to try to "just sleep it off," but at the insistence of my boss, went to the doc, got x-rayed, and found out that "Well, there's yer problem!", I had a hole in my lung! So, get your ass checked out, before it's too late! - early mornin' stoned pimp

Rep Power: 0 | Re: I Have chronic migranes . why ? Well as far as weed causing headaches I'd say that's if your smoking some low quality compressed and seedy. In contrast to what the shadow said, I find that a good strong kush is a better cure for my migraine than a Sativa. However, I believe that good hybrids can offer the best of both worlds. |

boxes, after years of migraines i have finally found relief with a combination of comprehensive Chinese medical treatment and being medicated with marijuana. chinese medicine treats the person and not a strictly defined ailment which is why i think it has been so affective for me and many others. for ones migraines may be radically different than another's in terms of cause and condition. herbs, acupuncture and cannabis have resulted in me being migraine free for the first time in years (since I was a kid). what part of cali do you reside in? in terms of strains I think its a matter of trail and error and I know that the med's would effect me differently if i wasn't being treated with chinese medicine. right now I am using hindu kush and white rhino, but again I am migraine free right now so its really for maintenance and at this point, pleasure.

Rep Power: 538 | Re: I Have chronic migranes . why ? C-2 to T-1 discs are damaged on me, degenerating. C-2 to C-3 was even spun off axis, and I had to have that painfully, manually manipulated back into place, or be paralyzed! I couldn't feel my hands or legs for 24 hours, that was as close as I wanted to be to being a paraplegic, or whatever they call it today. For me, the blood vessels across my brain will contract while the ones on my neck will expand, thus causing my migraines (typical, chronic ones). I am one of the poor people that gets auras before they hit, either full blown hallucinations, or flashing lights (whether I'm driving or not). Topamax, the anti-seizure drug prevents the majority of them for me, Imitrex is normally my breakthrough med. Unfortunately, if some jerk shines a Xenon flashlight into my retinas, then I walk into a job the next day full of flourescents - I get migraines for two weeks! Anyway, a Sativa helps me. I like 80/20 usually, or 70/30, because I am in chronic pain, but I MUST be awake during the day! I'm so sick of being stuck in a black hole, it isn't funny, with shades drawn, lights out, iced down from forehead down to top of shoulders! Sativa prevents this from being so severe, and an ER visit like on Monday, arrgh! Also, visit this site: http://www.migraines.org/treatment/index.html As for what to avoid: NITRATES! That's all preserved meats, such as sandwich meat. I simply loooove Black Forest ham and Bacon, but not good for me, sniff. I cook everything either fresh, or what I store in the freezer. - Absynthe |

Rep Power: 310637 | Re: I Have chronic migranes . why ? My wife has had migranes since she was about 14. Gets them at least once a month. Lasts 3-5 days, 24hrs. MMJ helps her but makes her paranoid, so she won't unless it gets real bad. No one has ever been able to tell her why she gets them. Been going to doctors for years. |

Rep Power: 538 | Superface13, almost sounds like your wife's migraines coincide with her periods, perchance? That happens with many women, and BCP help diminish that, if the case. - Absynthe |

Rep Power: 35 | Re: I Have chronic migranes . why ? i get migraines much less frequently than in the past. for me it occurs under many situations such as when im dehydrated, hungry, tired from lack of sleep, taking too long a nap, too much sun, and sometimes even certain foods. it was only relatively recently that i finally tried other pain medicines and Aleve seemed to do VERY well for awhile but the migraines i've been getting lately, the Aleve doesn't work as well. Tylenol NEVER alleviated my migraines. but i tried marijuana and it seemed to work pretty well for me. it helps that i smoked some pretty potent stuff. it hit me quick. |
