I'm out of the hospital, and it's been a rather painful experience. I've been working hard at strengthening my body, so I've been going for a bike ride in my neighborhood for the past few months.

Wednesday, I got hit by a woman in an SUV, who was just in too much of a hurry, to wait for me to clear the intersection. She decided to gun when I was in the lane next to her, and she hit my bike, dragged me into the middle of the intersection, knocked me to the ground, ran over bike & I.

I blacked out, then sudden, excruciating pain brought me out of it, and I woke to hearing me scream!!

I won an a A ticket aboard the Fire Dept. ambulance, they cut my favorite jacket, and kept my neck and spine straight, then rushed me to the hospital for CT scan and xrays.

My back is all jacked up again, and I've been constantly nauseated, and it feels like TWO slipped discs! I can hardly do much. I have a mild concussion, and a sprained neck, back - basically my entire spine!

The diladid shot they gave me, well it cut down some of my pain, but they waited 3 hours before giving it to me. Was kept for observation, then released.

Only good news, is after the police came to my room to speak with me, they'd prematurely written that I was at fault, because she told them, there was a car next to her, on her left. When I told them, "There was no second car - that was me!" They realized she'd hit me - not vice-versa. I also suspect she was on her cellphone, she seemed distracted, seemed like she tried to beat me through; she got tired of waiting for me. I'm not fast, but it still didn't warrant her crushing my bike & sending me to the hospital.

NOT good to do with bicyclists! I was leary of her, but she stayed stopped, until I was right there, and a few feet wasn't enough to stop!!

This is where I believe in miracles: I didn't break my back, no broken bones. I was also wearing a helmet, which now needs to be replaced. When I went into shock, I lost my fear, hard to explain; I felt safe, people were there for me, and because it happened in front of a school, a teacher held my gloved hand, until the fire department got there.

Bad news: back is REALLY, really Messed up! I woke up to excruciating pain this morning, though I'd taken enough meds for my normal pain.

Anyway, I start seeing doctors on Monday; my boyfriend wants me to stop biking, over one idiot. I told him, then get me my Nordic Trak, when I can exercise again. In the meantime, keeping my bent front wheel as evidence, until I don't need it.

I'm tired a lot, and been icing and alternating heat today.

Be careful of things smaller than your car when driving, because accidents can happen in a heartbeat.

THank you, both. Unfortunately, there's damage to the speech center of my brain, and is also affecting my typing and verbal talk; found out who were my friends real quick: the ones who didn't stop me every mistake I made in talking!

It's rather surreal, and I'm quite angry - I depend on my typing and drawing for a living.

Was she insured? If you lose your ability to make an income for yourself because of someone in too big of a hurry to notice a bicyclist in the road, she's gonna pay dearly. I suggest calling an attorney.

Really sorry to hear of your accident with that woman running you over on your bike! Call Bet Tzedeck on Fairfax Ave. for FREE legal advice - you need to sue this woman & her car insrance Co.!!! Also, go check with a Chiropractor to see what spinal damage she caused!! Also apply for S.S.I. (disability)! You've been hurt, by this unconcious woman!! =Judy=

Get Brain scans of your brain (problem with your speech, verbal & typing centers???!!!!) . . . plus spine! This is SO important to do! Also, the hospital can help you get on Medi-Cal or emergency aid to cover this! =Judy=

Thank you, all! It's been a real downer - I've been feeling a bit better, then WHAM!

Joy - the good news keeps coming - I have a broken neck, at C6, the vertebra is broken inside to the outside, on the side, and against the spinal cord.

Superface, I've already got a lawyer - went through a few, picked whom I thought would do the best job (sue, and collections).

I was going to launch a new sector of my business that weekend, and was able to prove it. Just postponed, but I have to wait for a friend to get back from NYC.

Well, the only good thing, is that the CT scan showed that I have two kidney stones in one of my kidneys. I'm angry, because I lost a job 18 months ago, over mid-back pain - yeah, RIGHT OVER the kidney!

The bike helmet is broken, and additional cracks from where I hit my head. So, it was harder than what witnesses said, since both of us were accelerating.

Just taking it easy, and using my Nordic Track instead of the bicycle.

stupid fucking soccer moms in there 3000 lbs death mobiles....

im a cyclist too. idiot could have killed you. this happened to my friend as well. reading about it makes me relive the moment and its enraging. oblivious moronic drivers who cant do two things at once yet alone drive in the fucking first place.


Hope you recover 100% and by some 1 in a million chance she gets her driver privileges taken away or does some time. sadly enough this experience most likely is not gonna change the way she drives.

I hope you have a really good lawyer + all kinds of proof, to sue her & her insurance Co. - for the, possible, permanent damage she caused you & damaged your bike & helmet! Please get Dr.'s to really check you out (your insurance or get Medi-Cal) and also get/apply for S.S.I. disability, ASAP, so money can come in to help you, with rent, food, medical expenses!!! Pay a Chiropractor to do an x-ray, check-up too ($35. to $55. a visit) = more proof!! Good Luck! =Judy=
