just this crazy riff he did for like 3 mins during a set break at woodstock

some of the craziest solo guitar work ive ever heard

so many good ones, i wouldnt be able to say. have heard some amazing solos from some of the newer bands influenced by the older bands that had phenoms playing.

I would never venture a guess at such a thing. I am more akin to dirt and grime.

All nice, let's not forget about David Gilmour's solo from the end of "Comfortably Numb", something about it touches my soul...even un-medicated... not to mention all the other solo's spread over all those albums.....nothing like Floyd....

...I'v got some bootleg recording of shows where he shred's that song and others for 30 minutes or more....

I saw The Wall 3 times at the L.A. Sports Arena. Gilmour did indeed jam.

But my favorite is Jeff Beck, followed by John Mclaughlin. Nice call on Zappa, Shecky, he rocks!

There are many candidates for best guitar solo, but it basically comes down to personal opinion. One of my favorites is Steve Vai's solo in the movie Crossroads. They have to speed up the Karate Kid in order to make it look like he can actually play the song.

I also like the ballerina song... lol

Jason Becker's Serrana is also nuts, no one on youtube can even come close to playing this song and MANY have tried:

Hell yeah! Zappa RULES! I went to the same high school that he did back in the day (not at the same time of course). I think he was the only famous person to ever graduate from AV High here in Lancaster.

My second choice would be between Tom Petty - (the end of) Running Down A Dream or Led Zeppelin - In My Time Of Dying (Most of the song)

Probably Led Zeppelin though!
