Cool This ole timer needs some music recommendations

Knowing I'm in the minority here... based upon age anyway, and I need some music to load into my Ipod.

I use it mostly for my work outs at the gym and when out in the back yard, so upbeat selections really help me bust...

Keep me energized.... Ya, that sounds less crude while attempting to better my distance on the elliptical trainer.

A new personal best today of 4.44 miles in 35 minutes... That takes fast paced music that also helps drive one beyond their limits... Reaches the spirit if ya know what I'm getting at here.

The issue is that being 52 years old I'm a classic rocker and I'm talking ancient history to most of you!

Take me in your arms by The Doobie Brothers

Weekend Warrior by Da Nuge is the beat I'm talking about...

Smokin' by Boston

I Really Like Girls by George Thorogood

My problem is that I have more space on my Ipod than I can seem to fill. I've been through everything from the 60's to Def Leppard.

<eta> I lost track of many nwere groups when I began working back in say the mid 70's through 2008, so newer tunes helps a lot.

But I can't find enough fast beat, drivin through the skull rock songs.

I know I'm missing too many groups and I sure can't list 1.3 days of music so I hope you will help jog the grey matter so I can get some new tunes.

Hit me with your best shots and thanks for the help my Brothers and Sisters.

PM sent and several of happyjack's suggestions are in that thing i mentioned to you that would never in a million years infringe on anyone's copyrights. nope. as a musician and a songwriter i would be completely against anything like that. but i might send a friend a digital "list" of my collection. as songs to consider adding to his own collection, as inspiration, yeah... inspiration - that's the ticket!

Re: This ole timer needs some music recommendations

Yup, you got it right, TUS. No messy with artists' copyrights.

Those are all good suggestions so far. Off the top of my head, I want to add, Arcade Fire, John Mayer, Dashboard Confessional, The Offspring, Weezer, Maroon 5, early Incubus, etc. Not all with the big beat you may want, but certainly a lot of motion goin' on.

BTW, I'm 58!

Re: This ole timer needs some music recommendations

I am a huge metal classic rock fan but i have been noticing to my ipod has become fairly stagnant. So not that long ago i have been listening to music i would never had thought i would once listen to like artists like moby. its really quite beautiful music. Though moby is not work out music there is other electronica i like to work out to like M.I.A,global deejays, and Enur. Dont crucify me for this flip flopping guys but it really does get your heart PUMPING:star-wars-smiley

Re: This ole timer needs some music recommendations

Not a work out music, but I enjoy classical and would recommend these if you like something different and soothing. Some of my favorites:

1) Pachelbel

2) The Moldau

3) Any from Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart

Oh, 80's are good also.

Bruce Springsteen

Oh... A novel idea!

Some fantastic classical selections even for cardio... Flight of the bumble bee...

Nice relaxing choices too that I must listen too also.
