Amy Winehouse's hospital dash in July was the result of marijuana poisoning and not a reaction to medication, a tabloid report has claimed.

The Rehab singer was admitted to a London hospital on 28 July after falling ill at her home.

Her representative subsequently released a statement blaming her condition on an adverse reaction to medication she is taking to help kick her drug addiction - which the star's father Mitch has also backed.

But now The Sun newspaper is claiming Winehouse had in fact become sick after allegedly smoking pot for more than a day.

And pals fear Winehouse's reported addictions will leave her needing medical help for years to come.

A source tells the publication, "Mitch does everything he can to protect his daughter - but his 'explanation' for Amy's hospital dash in July was simply untrue.

"She had smoked an inhuman amount of hash which resulted in acute cannabis poisoning. You have to take a s**tload of pot to suffer that severe a reaction.

"It's thought she had been smoking it for 36 hours... She is in need of years of psychiatry and medical treatment if she has a hope (of fully recovering)."

An ambulance was called to the 24-year-old singer's house in Camden, north London and she was taken to University College Hospital at around 8.40pm.
Police were stationed outside her house as Winehouse was wheeled out in a wheelchair while wrapped in a blanket and given oxygen. Her father Mitch Winehouse was with her.

Her spokesman Chris Goodman was told that paramedics had been called, but had not been told what is wrong with the pop star.
He said: "I was told that she was in a wheelchair, but conscious.
"No one was panicking."
A spokeswoman for London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at approximately 8.40pm to an address in NW1 to reports of an adult female taken unwell.
"We sent an ambulance and a fast response car and the patient has been taken to hospital."

Winehouse, who is being treated for a crack cocaine addiction, is suffering from emphysema and was admitted to hospital after collapsing at her home last month.

Mr Winehouse said in June: "It's in its early stages, but had it gone on for another month they painted a very vivid picture of her sitting there with a mask on her face struggling to breathe. The doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs it won't just ruin her voice, it will kill her."

just to clarify when they say she was "smoking pot for more than a day" they mean she was smoking pot, crack, and meth, and snorting cocaine.

marijuana is child's play to a hardcore addict like that. i've always hated amy winehouse, now that she is tarnishing marijuana's good name i have even more loathing for that gaggle toothed circus freak.:partysmile:

Ok im gonna call intense bullshit on a marijuan poisoning. If she had been constantly smoking for more than a 24hr period shes using meth coke or someother type of speed. She had a crack cocaine addiction.

I smoke alot of pot and hash and i dont see how one could smoke either for more then a couple of hrs before being to lit to even hit a bong or just simply falling asleep.

I never liked her and for anyone to go from a crack cocaine addiction to smoking pot is very unlikely. Crack cocaine gives a totally different high then weed. No one who has smoke crack is gonna go back to pot. All the speed freaks ive met h8 weed they say it makes them all paranoid.

Just because you smoked a bunch of pot doesnt not mean your gonna need to get an ambulance ride to a hospital. She was using something else in conjunction with the weed. Or consider this she got some of the coco puffs. Buds sprinkled with coke yeah i could see her smoking that and that probably would put you in a hospital after 36 hrs of constant use.

Next time the dumb bitch isnt gonna be so lucky. Shes gonna overdose on something that will kill her and no one is gonna be around to save her ass. I dont understand why some pop star had a desire to use crack. I mean your rich that would be that last drug i would use if i had that kind of money. I think they should've run a blood or hair drug test and show what else she showed positive for because if these tabloids post shit saying she was positive for weed well lets hear the whole story what other drugs was she taking. What paraphinalia did she have when the doctors arrived.

Take everything with a grain of salt tabloids lie like no tommorrow and honesty is that last of their concerns.
