Rep Power: 1003 | Is there a strain best for anxiety? I've been having a lot of anxiety, and while some strains don't exasperate the shortness of breath symptom, (which is the most common symptom I get), most of them do to some degree. I've had anxiety off and on for some time, but it's been kicking in a lot more lately and marijuana just doesn't help. I had some Grand Daddy Purple a while back that didn't seem to cause any problems, but I can't find that anymore so I need some advice. Some strains make it much worse, some don't bother it as much, but hopefully I can find something to balance that won't bother my anxiety, but will still help with crohn's. I'm open to non-marijuana related treatments as well, cheaper the better Last edited by Nailhead; 05-13-2008 at 11:21 AM.. |

Let me first preface this by saying I am no doctor, but historically the Purple's do tend to have a more calming effect. I too have found GDP to be a good remedy, but you are correct in that it is not always in abundant supply. That said I tend to gravitate to what we have historically known as Indica's and regretfully avoid most of what we have referred to as Sativa's. There is a more accurate vernacular description for strain classifications, which CRC utilizes but for the life of me I am constantly getting twisted. Without fail one of the brethren will follow up with for clarification. In terms of CRC offered strains that I have had positive experiences with, I enclose the following: Affie - Usually in stock, high CDB content that has a bit of a creeper effect to it but leaves me with a calm and level headed high. GP - Not always available, and I believe derived from GDP genetics giving one a classic GDP like experience. Ingrid - Have not seen her in a while, but a real nice relaxed all body effect. Think of the flower equivalent of a really nice bottle of Pinot with some friends. Purple Master Kush - not always available, but a nice euphoria followed by a relaxed body high. Purple Kush - Similar to the Purple Master in taste and effect. Bubba Kush - both the "Head stash" and lovely K2, neither of which may be in stock anymore but both were very effective at allowing me to just chill and turn the "valve" reactive mind off. Pure Kush - May still be in stock, very nice indoor that has a great cerebral quality yet physically relaxing. OG Kush - Cornerstone consistently leads the way for OG offerings. Of the recent vintage OG2 is usually a constant staple, but previous offerings that were very effective for me were the Tahoe, K-OG, and the 420 OG. Silk - Master Kush backcross and somewhat of a periodic special offering, but used responsibly can be a heavy medicating (analgesia) with an occasional disassociative quality. Silk like all Cornerstone meds appears to have a high THC concentration, so tread lightly. The main thing is to establish a point of medication to where your body and mind can come together in a place of unison that is comfortable for you. It is best when starting out to even "under-medicate" while you are attempting to establish a dosage level that is both manageable and effective in providing remedy for your ailments. I have found that "over-medicating" can cause my mind to open up that well, which inevitably leads to a state of reflective struggle as I am attempting to process the THC delivery to my system. I encourage you to speak with Morpheus on your next trip as he is not only a pleasure to interact with but also retains a certain Shaman like status in terms of cannabis knowledge, and the related psychological/physical effects that can be catalyzed by MMJ Usage. In addition Mercedes is typically spot on with her recommendations, and Ms. Simone "A" is very helpful with giving personal feedback on their in stock offerings. Last but not least read all the reviews you can find (previous threads) by CrescentFresh, and feel free to PM other CRC Forum contributors. You will not find a cooler more caring group of people anywhere else on the Weed tracker site. In summary marijuana is a tool for the relief of pain, nausea, and a myriad of other health related issues, but also a catalyst for rediscovery of the beauty within all of us that the system and environmental forces have attempted to eradicate. Go slowly but embrace it as a positive resource for self rediscovery, and allow it to be the guide to illustrate what is good within you and your life. Peace and Blessings, On behalf of the CRC Community.

Rep Power: 900 | Re: Is there a strain best for anxiety? Hey Nail, I would also encourage you to speak directly with Morpheus, as his knowledge is like a fountain, just overflowing with great info. I was at CRC today, and I know that I saw Bubba, which I would think is a great candidate for your needs. To follow up the previous post, the meds at CRC are surely top flight, the best I've ever seen, and while they, like most of today's meds, can be considered "strong" by old school standards, I've never once felt racy or anxious on any of their meds...although I do seem to stick mostly with the indica/afghanica strains as opposed to the sativa's (although that CHEESE kicks *ss, and I think it's sativa-dom). I think that the quality of CRC meds is such that you may experience less anxiety with their meds in general than you might with lesser quality meds found at other clubs. Some of the meds I have really enjoyed at CRC include: GP, Purple Master, K2, K-OG, Silk, Cheese, OG2, Affie, M-OG, Bubba, Ingrid and not a single one of these has been racy or anxiety-prone. Your mileage may vary, of course, but I would encourage you to visit CRC and speak directly with Morpheus, Mercedes or Symone (sp?). They will all be most helpful. Good luck with your search and let us know how it works out! |

Rep Power: 26476 | Re: Is there a strain best for anxiety? We're not physicians. Anxiety is a complex condition and can also be a symptom of another medical condition, so it's best to visit a doctor and get it checked out. THC can encourage or precipitate anxiety, even if you're normally not prone to it. If you're experiencing shortness of breath, you need to immediately see a doctor. Period. I wish I could say smoke some XXXXX and it will go away, but that would be irresponsible. --morpheus Cornerstone Research |

Anxiety can be 'precursor' to many conditions ,should be 'handled' preferrably w/o pharma ... personally found 'ingrid/bluedream via thirdeye' will leave ya 'xanax free' ,producing a 'mellow/dreamlike' environment while maintaining 'crystal clarity' (3rdeye) w/o feeling 'any' pain... that is all .....

Rep Power: 1003 | Re: Is there a strain best for anxiety? A doctor's visit is out of the question, I don't have health insurance or the money to pay for the visit up front. But I'm really not worried too much about it, I was more worried when I didn't know it was anxiety and I thought it was asthma, but I know it isn't that. It's not serious or life threatening, more of an annoyance and I've noticed some strains make it worse with just a few puffs. I'm not expecting a cure for anxiety, but just something that will better deal with it's symptoms. I know what is causing it, but I don't have a lot of control over that, at least for now, so all I can do is get information on how to handle the symptoms. Any information given in this thread is appreciated. |

| Re: Is there a strain best for anxiety? Blue Dream from CRC is the most anti-anxiety medicine that I have found to be most affective for me. We are all different, so I would recommend trying a couple of small hits at first, and see if your anxiety calms down. I agree with Morpheus and Labrat's posts as well. As much as I would like to think mmj will take care of all my ailments it does not. Let us know how it works out for you. Best, pic4daze |

Rep Power: 1003 | Re: Is there a strain best for anxiety? So what strains should I avoid? Any tips on what type of strains I should be focusing on? And again, if you have any advice for cheap, non-medical marijuana treatments or suggestions I'm all ears, (or eyes). |

If you are having PAs I'd say there isn't really much you can do other than some kind of therapy, cognitive restructuring, or plain ol' introspection I guess. Whatever will help you identify your source of anxiety and overcome the fear. Cannabis has been known to cause PAs sometimes but you said you knew what it is about so perhaps the mmj is not the case. If it's Generalized Anxiety, and we're still speaking in terms of affordability + efficacy, I'd still say that your mind is your best bet. A quick change of perception can throw you from negative, anxious thought patterns- music, scenery, exercise. But when things are quite overbearing I'd say benzodiazepines aren't a bad bet. Many people don't have a good reaction to them but they've been a necessity for me at times. It's likely that you might have a free clinic near you (I think we have a link in the MI forum) and benzos are rather inexpensive w/out insurance. I think the most I ever paid was $80 but it wasn't a generic script. Hope that some of this made sense. :smile2: Last edited by MadRiverTurtle; 05-13-2008 at 11:29 PM.. Reason: fix link

Rep Power: 8309 | Re: Is there a strain best for anxiety? i have a friend who is an mmj patient who uses it for ms but she suffers from horrible anxiety. she swears by strawberry cough and blueberry. these strains dont seem to contribute to her anxiety but everybody's different. i would stay away from hazes and strong sativas as these generally give a racy paranoid kind of high. |

Rep Power: 1680 | Re: Is there a strain best for anxiety? Yeah i have anxiety and when i first started using mmj i would only smoke indica or indica dominant strains but as time went on i began to try out different sativas. i think many of them make me feel relaxed and they do help my anxiety but some are pretty racey and just arent my thing. it really depends on the strain. but like organo said, everybodys different but sativas or at least sativa dominant hybrids are real nice for a change and for me, they help me stay on track with eating and most are really uplifting. |

Rep Power: 36071 | Re: Is there a strain best for anxiety? If me recalls ,the focus of this thead 'surrounds determining' what strain best eases anxiety ; thus ,most of us realize that there r different strokes ... optimally ,the suggstion to see a physician is "correct" ,but can get PRICEY ( esp.,shrinks ; $$$ only ,no insurance ) ... since anxiety can/usually b complex in nature ,an internist (psychiatrist) should b consulted ,granted any m.d. can write/xanax (side effects ,HEAVY tolerance/phys.addct) ,but is this an answer ??? ; ask labby ... bottomline ,going to fav store ,"experiment" 'combo'/strains ,esp., ones offered by patient recco ... psst* ... CRC/Morpheus , well respected in this community ; any info re : diagnosis/prognosis can always be useful/ appreciated by patients ... psst**BlueDreamHaze blended w/ingrid/ggift/... then me titrates some of the 'eye' for balance/clarity as needed ... again ,it's a start in pos/direction ,be creative ,xperiment ... hope this helps ya'll a bit :smile2: |
