Rep Power: 250 | I just had a baby 7months ago, dealing with a 13yr. teenager, husband working double shift, plus I am in school. I am having a hard time with everthing on my plate. I already talk to my doctors, and they would like for me to seek help. I know I smoke day in and day out, but to see a shrink, Love and Peace to all |

Make an appointment with a few different psychologists so you can compare what they have to say. You might actually find one that you like and want to see on a regular basis. Just be honest with them and let them know how you feel about marijuana. Tell them about all your other medications and see if they can help you put together a plan. I wish you and your family all the best and hope to see the happy, upbeat Cutie77 I have come to know. If there is anything I can do to help, just say the word. Rep Power: 7610 | You definately need a break ...even it's just for a couple of hours...dont stop smoking period no matter what"advice"you get from any doctors or so called"shrinks"it's probably the only thing saving you from the brink of insanity....try another natural remedy,St.Johns Wort...I've heard that it works for depression, anxiety amongst other things. It's worth a shot... Rep Power: 1763 | Re: Stressfull Situation If you do decide to talk to a professional, you might do better with a pyscolgist instead of a pschritrist (sorry about the spelling). The latter is a medical Dr. and will typically proscribe drugs (not always though). the pschcolgist or counsellor will just help talk you through things. You shouldn't have to quit any meds - just don't add anymore. Just my 2 cents Otto |

| Re: Stressfull Situation It couldn't hurt to see if they can help. Remember it's always your choice as to what your treatment plan is. I know a number of people that seek help from MD's who use MMJ. Rx Medicine is always your option, your choice. Talking could't hurt. No one is going to take your choices away by talking.. I see a psy doc since my colon cancer. He has never asked me to stop using cannabis or forced medications on me. They just want to see you happy and free. The best advice I can give is no one on this board is treating you. It's strictly between you and your Doc. So weigh advice carefully. Kushy420 really said it best. |

That's a good question, about psychologists and smoking. I went to one about 3 years ago who knew I was a patient, knew my diagnosis, yet requested that I not smoke for 24 hours prior to a session. Needless to say, I didn't sleep the nights before appointments, which made it hard to make any progress at 7 the next morning... Personally, I'd walk away from any shrink that tells you to alter your mmj intake to accommodate them. If doctors and nurses can accept the legitimacy of medicinal cannabis, psychiatrists/psychologists should be able to as well. If you do end up seeking this kind of help, I would personally go to a psychologist as opposed to a psychiatrist. It sounds like what you need is someone to listen to what's going on in your head right now, not a cocktail of new medicine with a wide range of side effects. I've been to a few doctors who are of the mindset that if the pill they decide on for you doesn't work, another one will. This can be VERY frustrating, going through 7 or 8 different meds, oftentimes with very noticeable side effects, watching for signs of it working/being detrimental, all the while trying to work through the problems of your day to day life. The bottom line is, every doctor is different, and some will most certainly be biased towards certain kinds of treatment. If you feel you're at a point where you absolutely need a change, maybe you should look into making an appointment with someone. Just my 8 cents. I hope things look up for you soon. Keep us posted on how things are going, we are here to listen. ~Sky | |
