Not sure were to post?! Looking for great bud for anxiety!

I have found myself with a bigger stress load than usual. I am beginning to find myself having anxiety at night while I am going to sleep! This is very unusual for me and I have attempted to cancel this out by making a point of working out more during the day!

This has yet to make a difference all though I plan on sticking too it.
In the past few days I haven't slept very much, and I am beginning to go crazzzy!

I am looking for a very stony strain that will give me a very relaxing high with some pretty good giggles if I am lucky.

Does anyone have any recommendations of helping tips?!

Grape Ape is know for it's anti-anxiety properties. IMO, anyoone of the grapish purples have this quality.

Hope it helps!

Re: Not sure were to post?! Looking for great bud for anxiety!

I too suffer from anxiety. Purples work for me, but everyone's body chemistry is different. I suggest you get a few grams (small quantities) of different purples and see what works for you. Here are a few that work for me:

The Purps- Harder to find the real deal, but if you do try it
God's Gift- So many different batches out there. Look for tighter dense nugs
Blue Dream- Recently I found this med to be very effective for me
Grape Ape- Similar to God's Gift look for the dense buds
Lavendar- Good med. just like the other purples
Bluberry (D.J. Short)- If you do come across this rare gem buy it. There are a lot of Blueberry strains out there, but it is the D.J. Short that you want if you have the opportunity

Hope this helps. Have an anxiety free day.

Best,
pic4daze

Post Re: Not sure were to post?! Looking for great bud for anxiety!

I too have anxiety and have had a lot of luck with purple meds. Purple Urkle works best for my anxiety and GDP seems to work the least well, but that's just my personal brain/body chemistry of course.

Though I have to second pic4daze's nomination of Blue Dream. It's a very, very tranquil med. It's a little sleepy and stoning, but if you're trying to alleviate anxiety at bedtime then this might be just the med you're looking for.

Beyond that I find that straight up Kush can provide positivity and confidence which, of course, is only going to lessen anxiety. Check out Pure Kush and Hindu Kush and stuff like that. Though I would recommend against big favorites like OG Kush as they typically have stimulating effects that are not only going to keep you awake but may in fact increase your anxiety.

Hope this helps! And best of luck with your anxiety.

I would recommend Jack Herer or The Cheese. They won't make you sleepy like a heavy indica.

Re: Not sure were to post?! Looking for great bud for anxiety!

When it comes down to it strain choice tends to be a preference choice. If your looking for something to help you with anxiety problems your best bet is to pick a sativa. Sativa's tend to give you a more euphoric feeling, where as indicas are more like a downer.

my middle name is anxiety. and i'm always looking to keep it down. i find the same effects as many of the others here. the kushes and in particular the strain, blue dreams works well for me. the blue dreams is a great calm and relaxed feel for me, but watch this one if you're like me and like to hit two or three bowls when your motor is running, thiking you need a bit more to hit the spot, but with the blue dreams i found that it did put me out if i smoked too much at a time. so hit it slow and easy. and let us all know how it goes.

I also suffer from anxiety sometimes and he's right about everyones body chemistry being different. Indicas keep me up and Sativas help me sleep /shrug go figure, then again I have taken so much Rx drugs my body chemistry is all jacked up. My best advice would be to go into a good co-op such as MMI, NNCC, Topanga and a few others. The one's I have mentioned I know are good, and if your to far from those areas, just ask around. The places I have mentioned are more than willing to let you try medications out for your ailment. Try all 3 types Hybrid, Sativa, or Indica you never know what will work for YOU because everytone is different. Hope that helps.

Stay up!!!! :slaugh:

I would disagree with this statement. Sativa make my mind race which can stimulate the anxiety further. Indicas relax the body which can help with the physical aspects of anxiety: shallow breathing, tension, heart racing, etc.

Re: Not sure were to post?! Looking for great bud for anxiety!

I deal with anxiety on regular basis. From my experience and knowledge on this subject I suggest not taking someone elses suggestion for curing anxiety. Each person has a different chemical make up and therefore each strain can have a different effect on different people. I recently tried some purple kush that sent me directly into a severe panic attack. Just my opinion hope it helps.

Much luv,

I am agree with you. Most people say Indicas but it really depends on your body chemistry. I have anxiety/panic disorder, depression & slight OCD. Indicas, for me, give me a downer feeling and make me very hyper. Sativas completely relax me and make me feel calm and happy.

Re: Not sure were to post?! Looking for great bud for anxiety!

Parameters re: anxiety ,depression ,mania ,insomnia must be realized ,weighted individually as mentioned ... strains that alleviate 'one' symptom can be precursor for another ie., 'most' sativas hav tendency to 'stimulate' (depression) as well as increase 'anxiety' ; indicas tend to 'calm ,sedate' (mania ,anxiety) as well as suppress 'depression' in higher doses ... experiencing all symptoms ,hav recently found 'blend' which covers all bases ... it will alleviate mania ,insomnia ,anxiety ,depression ...

Realizing ,this patient can only describe benefits due 'personal' degree of adjustment ... titration oneway or other ,up to individual ... a good start ,50/50 3rdeye flower ,bluedream(blueberry x haze) ... an immediate dreamlike calm ,w/xclnt. clarity ... 3rdeye in/by itself will do wonders for depression w/o disturbing sedation (higher doses) ...

Been dealing w/malady all life ... along the way ,picked up invaluable tools to bring 'daily ,changing' emotions to play ... an investment of a 'little time' will hav a 'drastic' effect on prognosis ( Biorhythm technology ) ... that is all .....

Re: Not sure were to post?! Looking for great bud for anxiety!

It's very interesting to see all the people who experience anxiety relief from sativas. Typically it's the exact opposite. Strains like OG Kush, Headband, Sour Diesel, Green Crack, Trainwreck, etc. are all sativa-dominant and *typically* produce stimulating or "racy" effects. And that's not good when you're trying to treat a condition like anxiety which basically overwhelms and over-stimulates the mind. As a result, most coops steer patients with anxiety away from sativas. Furthermore, indicas are indeed downers much of the time, but that's kind of what anti-anxiety meds are supposed to do. Take "traditional" pharms like Valium or Xanax, for example, act on the same neurochemical mechanisms as alcohol which in turn produces relaxation, sedation and a calming reduction of inhibition.

But yeah, we all have our individual body/brain chemistry. Still though, I thought the above info was worth mentioning.

this works really good smoke a mostly sativa till you feel all euphoric and happy =) right then smoke a 100% indica. it is the best feeling. it is very sedating feeling. upside is you'll find out then and there if you prefer indica or sativa =)

Re: Not sure were to post?! Looking for great bud for anxiety!

I've had quite a bit of luck with sativas for anxiety management. Everyone's different, but I've found that the racier and more soaring the effect the better it is for me. Some find exactly the opposite though... Nothing beats a heavy indica at night, but that's at night... I don't often smoke the heavier strains during the day.

Sativas I've found helpful: Island Sweet Skunk, Holy Hawaiian, Green Crack, Trainwreck, Jack Herer, J27, and 3rd Eye to name a few.

Indicas:Bubba, Blueberry, Blue Moonshine, Hash Plant, LA Con, Kens GDP, GDP, Romulan.

Re: Not sure were to post?! Looking for great bud for anxiety!

Great strains mentioned here. You have to figure what strain seems to work best for you - it's a lot like picking an anti-depressant (Zoloft, Paxil, or Prozac?). What works best for one person may not work well for you.
Since anxiety is one of my medical reason for smoking MMJ (been on benzo's for years) I'll throw out one strain that helps me exactly as you requested - Master Kush. Makes me laugh my ass off, then go to sleep. It has consistently knocked me on my ass and mellowed me out every time, but it's hard to do things after you've smoked it, so you might want to leave it for bedtime. I love it, but I love all strains if they're grown well. I also love Trainwreck, which is not exactly the most relaxing bud, but it'll be hard to be upset after you smoke it, that's for sure. Maybe smoke just a little bit. In small quantities, MMJ will relax you. Smoke a lot of it, and you can get paranoid. Setting is also extremely important. Anyway, have fun finding your strain. Go with whatever makes you feel better.

Re: Not sure were to post?! Looking for great bud for anxiety!

I've heard that strawberry cough was developed for anxiety, but it's a sativa.
I've has some luck with it, but I'm a nighttime anxiety person so I prefer the purple indicas. Granddaddy purple or grape ape in particular.
