Rep Power: 22 | Music and MMJ Hi all, I've been itching to get some discussion on this topic, and so now I'm putting it out there. It's been over a year since I first was introduced to the herb, and the first time I ever had it I coupled it with my highest love ever: music. Since then, my life has much gotten better. Officially my scrip is for asthma, but what mmj helps me most is with the mental issues I never had diagnosed and honestly never believed I had until recently. Made me love life for the first time, and for that I'll always be grateful Now after that anecdote, I'm not quite sure if the meds by themselves would have helped me as much without its synergistic effect on music. I've had pretty emotional reactions to music even when sober, but the joy listening to music gives me while medicated is truly incredible, and when used liberally I think helps me work through my life issues, be far more creative and just generally happy. Does anyone else find this combination to be essential to their lives? I know that it seems hard to label music as medicine, but I truly believe it can be that important to one's mental wellbeing if one is predisposed to music already. I'd turn this into a music thread, but maybe that should wait for another topic in a different place. I do love the Rolling Stones! |

When we are happy, music makes us happier- when we are sad, music helps us to be in touch with feelings that might otherwise not surface. Music plays an important part in many peoples lives(medicated or not) And as far as you getting so much more out of it since you have been medicating, why do you think a lot of jazz and other mucisians have been combining it for decades! Interesting thread Spaceman. Iam Happy you seem to have found 2 things that make you happier! |

| Re: Music and MMJ Music is the without a doubt the most important force in my life. When I am happy, I need it to groove with; when I'm sad, I need it to comfort me. Making music, singing, dancing, or just listening - music is my way of talking to my soul. Sometimes I feel like music is the only thing that actually understands me. More than any psychiatrists or friends or running or drinking or pills or mmj or even love (or is that love or even mmj), music always makes me feel better. Period. Thank whoever you thank that we have music to heal, inspire, and join us all together - even when we might just want to be alone L&L DD |

Rep Power: 22 | Re: Music and MMJ Heh, I probably posted this in an area which won't be frequented as much, but... I really appreciate the comments made so far. They certainly ring true for me, and it's wonderful how such a diverse medium still produces the same emotions in all of us, with or without our other medicine. Anyone got a track which really moves you, physically or mentally? I figure trading a song or two might be pretty cool, even if we don't react to it as strongly as the person who posted it. Audioslave - Be Yourself is a really awesome song for me, I love anything which is both sorrowful yet hopeful. Gotta keep the hope ;). |

Rep Power: 38 | Re: Music and MMJ I feel the same way. Music is essential to my well-being. I don't rely on it to drag me out of depression, or make the pain (physical or mental) go away, but it certainly can be a catalyst to help with those problems. Ever since I developed chronic tendonitis I haven't been able to play the piano...or any instrument for that matter. I had to give up bowling, sports, dancing and plenty of other life activities that were an important stress-reliever for me. Since then I've had to develop new stress-relieving methods. I can't live happily without music. If I don't have an electronic device to provide it for me, I make it myself with my own voice. When I medicate before I listen, the experience is so varied. Sometimes I'll hear an instrument that I didn't realize was in the song, or I'll interpret a lyric a different way and it now has new meaning for me. It's so interesting how varied my experiences can be with a single song. :slaugh: I even enjoy singing more when I'm medicated because my whole body feels more relaxed. You can't sing well if you're not relaxed. P.S. If you're into Fleetwood Mac (or just awesome acoustic guitar pieces), listen to the song "Big Love" after medicating. I like the version from their reunion concert "The Dance." |

I love that feeling! And I also love Black Sabbath. I really enjoy starting out my day listening to some tunes while getting dressed in the morning. | |

Rep Power: 22534 | Re: Music and MMJ I feel like I get more stoned at concerts then when Im at home not listening to music. Like I dont need to smoke as much to get stoned at shows. Maybe because I get a little tired from standing so long at these shows.Or it could be the thumping bass and just feeling good being able to see the groups I like and listening to good music. The only thing about getting stoned at underground hip hop shows is it gets harder to follow what the rapper is saying when you are really stoned but you just have to really pay attention.
