| MMJ vs. anger and depression Yesterday, I felt myself going into a depression tailspin, I won't go into details why. I was furious, and negative in the extreme last night. I hadn't smoked much MJ for about a week (that wasn't why I was pissed), and decided to see what smoking a bowl of Super Silver Haze would do for me. It was miraculous. I immediately stopped feeling angry, and stopped looking at everything so negatively. I've never tried MJ during a full-blown depression, but after what it did for me last night, I'm sure glad I've got a rec in case I fall back into "the hole". Just felt like posting something positive about MMJ. :slaugh: |

Rep Power: 46 | Re: MMJ vs. anger and depression That's awesome! Congrats! Your description fits me to a T and the Wellbutrin wasn't working as well as it used to so I got a recc. The diference is phenomonal. I was a little afraid the sativa would increase my 'excitibility' (raving maniac) but it doesn't. It gets me motivated and allows me to think without a negative funk to everything. |

In my case, I'm using sativa dominant or 50/50 hybrids, and the sativa I believe is what consistently pulls me up from any depression I may be having. I think some sativas may tap into the anxiety areas of my brain/mind a little more than others, but even then, some deep breathing seems to help me get right back on track and enjoy the ride. I haven't tried Super Silver Haze yet, but will get to her one of these days. |

I have also noticed that if I smoke a bowl it really helps me mellow out, and then I realize whatever I was worried/sad/angry about wasn't really that important to get so worked up over. |

I seriously do think that if the world leaders would get together at the table and discuss issues while medicated, it'll help put all the bullshit to the side because they'll all be on the same level. I really think it could help our leaders reason with one another. |

Had an OK therapist, so much of this is my thinking: Fear often results in anger, the anger then can manifest quilt feelings, quilt leads to feeling depressed. It really help my anger issues (mostly road rage) to understand that for me Fear = Anger. Working on the depression now. Good Luck all. |

I was diagnosed clinically depressed, but with a combination of various strains and talk therapy, I have managed to keep the disease at bay without use of harsh anti-depressants. MJ allowed me to delve into my own brain and discover exactly what was causing the depression without getting hung up on the feelings. I did so much research on my own, as most doctors just wanted to push a pill in my mouth without regards to the side effects. Many therapists are quick to blame MMJ as a cause of depression, but being able to really explain how I use it and showing that it is not a hindrance, is key to acceptance. -lp |

Great mood lifters the purples I would recommend one of those if you're feeling a little blue, they work beautifully for me. |

Managing cannabis use in people with severe mental illness: what can be done? Nearly half of people with severe mental illness use cannabis sometime in their lives and during their illness. Its use can have multiple and severe consequences for the course of the illness. Despite the significance of the problem, managing cannabis use in this group is a recently developing topic and is still in its infancy. This article reviews the current state of knowledge on the management of people with severe mental illness who continue to use cannabis, specifically focusing on different models of service provision, and psychological and pharmacological interventions. by Zerrin Atakan Zerrin Atakan worked as Lead Consultant in the National Psychosis Unit at the Maudsley & Bethlem Royal Hospitals in London until August 2007, when she retired from National Health Service duties. She currently holds an honorary contract at the Institute of Psychiatry in London, where she is doing research on the effects of cannabis compounds on brain functioning and development of an intervention model for cannabis-using patients with psychosis. As a consultant psychiatrist she gained extensive expertise treating severe mental illness. She has advised the Home Office, voluntary mental health organisations and local councils on cannabis use, and written for cannabis websites to inform young people about the effects of the drug on mental health. I also find medicating with other patients also is a mood booster, just the conversation is enough to derail those negative thoughts and feelings. It also just feels good to have a common bond. -lp

If you are having suicidal ideations you should seek some professional help. MMJ might help but this needs some professional attention. Please, most counties have therapists that will see you on a sliding scale, get some professional help. zb
