Rep Power: 11017 | Dythemic disorder So, my therapist thinks that I have dythemic disorder. Read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dysthymia or do a search for the terms. Basically it is a long-term low level depression, some sources say that SSRIs are helpful. One that appears to be a good choice is Welbutrin XL. So far I have been pretty good with using MMJ ocassionally to lift my moods and the therapy has also been helping, but I wonder if the Welbutrin would be a better long-term solution. Does anyone else have this disorder? Anyone using Welbutrin XL? Thoughts and opinions are welcome. |

Rep Power: 113264 | Re: Dythemic disorder I don't have your disorder, or any other mental disorder for that matter, but I do have pretty extensive experience w/ SSRIs and the like;I'm NOT any type of health care professional. That said, Wellburtin can be a good choice for some; however, if you have any kind of anxiety-related disorder(s) such as panic attacks or OCD, then Wellbitrin can SERIOUSLY exacerbate your other symptoms. Also, as with any SSRI, there's a risk of increased suicidal thoughts/behavior particularly in young adults. Hope this helps. Good luck with your treatment. |

I took Wellbutrin for 4 years. It did make me very productive at work, but it made my hands shake and gave me horrible insomnia, which I already have. Now I'm on Zoloft, Trazodone, and a small amount of Klonopin I get once a month. It's working for me. Good luck to you, and check out that book if you already haven't. "Feeling Good". I think the last name of the man who wrote it is Beck. It is based on Cognitive Therapy, which is very helpful for somebody with your condition, but I'm no doctor. Hope you feel better soon. My experience with people and pharmeceuticals is...mis-diagnosed sleep disorders. EVERYBODY I know who is depressed ultimately finds out there's a sleep disorder involved in one way or another and the only safe medication is medical marijuana via edibles and smoke! Of course, a few rare people actually have a chemical imbalance and benefits from certain meds, but those meds usually come with side effects that mmj helps. I'd get sleep study done before taking any pharmaceuticals whatsoever and then I'd only use edibles and smoke till I found what or what combo worked best! Also, to off-set the "high" of mmj during the day or the day after a potent edible, I use panax ginseng, not siberian ginseng or any other ginseng, just panax ginseng, at least 6-years old, the older the better! | |
