depreszion and the Holidays

i always feel so depressed at this time of year. I know I'm not alone in this.
this year is even worse - because I was out of work for the last few weeks, I don't even have enough $ to get my wife a gift this year...
and i am sorta bummed out about my eye too.
damn I hate the holidays!

Everything the good and the bad seem to be accentuated during the holidays. Christmas over here will be smaller this year also, so glad I don't have small children to buy for. I sign on to WTer whenever I feel the need to escape from the madness.... Right, I'm on a lot

Love you Spacey....we all have each other here.

Spacey you seem like such a great guy. I think your wife knows how huge your heart is, and the greatest gift she has gotten this year is having someone like you in her life.

That is much more powerful and important than some store bought gift.

I know what you mean, Spacey. But we have medical cannabis to help elevate our moods! That's a lot to be thankful for, IMHO.

OK, I know it's old-fashioned and cheesy as all hell, but when I'm feeling down at Xmas time, I gotta give "White Christmas" a chance to lift my spirits.

And you know Spacey, it has been a tough year, but this morning you have a good eye, you have papa and the crew, and you have Rose. That sounds pretty blessed to me! Yay for Christmas!

happyholidays to all!

We got your back, Spaceman! My wife and I agreed decades ago to not exchange holiday gifts. Takes away some of the pressure. Her mental illness revolves around family get-togethers, so today and tomorrow are high alert times for blow-ups. I have warned the kids, but they never listen to advice from the old man.

Sorry you're feelin bad Spacy, I want you to know that just getting to meet you & being invited to your home to see your birds has lifted my spirits so much and want to thank you for that. You dont know how much it means to me and how I use that feeling of friendship to my advantage when Im feeling down. You are another one of the very impressive & special people I have met over the last 8 months.

I am also feeling the crunch this year and have'nt seen things this bad for my trade since "92" and have been fighting to keep afloat since April. So we are Having a very low keyed Christmas this Year .Good thing for love & side jobs!

Please remember that Your Wife has you & you have her. That, In my eyes, is (one of) the greatest gifts ever in itself.()

Ya know,I sat & thought about it for a long time & Just thinking about what you are going through makes me truely feel for you My brother. This is very scary & serious.
When I turned 40 I used to actually think it was kinda funny that my visoin was going blurry at certain times. But now that it has/is getting worse I dont think it is funny at all. Very frustrating! So I can only slightly imagine what you are going through.

We are Truely wishing & Hoping for the best for you & yours & please know that you are loved by Many, Many people (us included) and always will be.

Thank you for your Friendship Spacey!
I truely hope you feel better.

Could not agree with you more US. However all these wonderful WT friends you have made throughout the year are a huge gift. Your wife is lucky to have your love, and most of all happy you are on the mend, and healthy. Not to mention you are loved back by her, and others (like W and me) . Stay strong and positive.

Best,

Re: depreszion and the Holidays

Major bummer Space Brain,.

Don't feel too lonely, as this year many of us are faced with having little to no money as the economy has it's head up it's own proverbial butt.

Fear not as Money really can't buy you happiness,.
~ sometimes the most thoughtful gifts come from the heart.

Happy Holidays, Take care and be good!

Re: depreszion and the Holidays

i love everyone, and i'm gonna blow this thread up with love and truth..!! depression is seperation from self, and once in awhile it's good to escape to a place "out of tune" with ourselfs (..?!?), but only for contrast.... then, it's back to creating our realitys in a way that is suppotive to ourselves.

ask yourself, self, are you a person who is depressed or uplifted..?!? are you an uplifted person who is having a depressed contrast..?!? or are you a depressed person whom is having a uplifted contrast..?!?

this time of year is strange, because man has confused the season .,yep. this is the time of year to go inside, just like nature, so with biped. society is maddening, but you should never be diminished by it. do not turn on your tv's, do not use your microwave, do not buy gifts in the spirit of the imaculate christ child lying in a manger, quit giving of yourself at a time when you should be storing up for winter ... now kiss yourself ..... nothing else matters.

also if uncomfortable feelings come up about family during the holidays, guess what..?!? it is now your new responsibility to yourself to clear these matters up, and not during the holidays..!!! give yourself a break this year, and become the creator you came here to be..!!! and quit being influenced by outside energys that do not behoove you......easy as 1 2 3

tune in tap in turn on

My Brother Spacey,

The gift of love is the greatest gift one can give.

We all have our challenges and disappointments, but love conquers all.

Give that woman a special present, one from the heart means more than one from the store.

*Big Bro* with lots of love for you both.

I too usually get depressed during the holidays, and I understand BB where your wife's coming from, I experience the same issues at family gatherings and I don't see a good year ahead as far as my employment situation goes, especially if the G-damned actors strike. But this year I'm on Prozac in addition to my medical marijuana, so rather than the usual depression I have more of an empty feeling and quite honestly don't feel much. I'm not sure I like it, but it definately helped take the edge off this year. When you got a hyper 3 year old son...well nuff' said

Re: depreszion and the Holidays

Spacey, we're all here for you. When I think back, there were good holiday seasons and some bad. Many times I can honestly say that "I" was the reason for the bad ones, but now, when I think about it, I learned something during those times. It's part of our existence as humans.
Struggling with depression and/or anxiety literally drains the joy from life...saps it like a parasite. My man, folks are inspired by your wit, and think a great deal of you. You're lucky dude. That in itself is a blessing.
So many folks are hurting and pinched this year as never before. Personally I can't remember a worse time in my life, but we must just keep putting one foot before the other and keep going. My prayer is that you realize the blessing of those in your life who love you. That pays dividends that are priceless.
God bless.

and i am sorta bummed out about my eye too.

Spacey,

These two hit the nail right on the head...

We are both old enough now to begin to understand the things that are ACTUALLY important... The material gifts are nice, they are fun, but the real gifts come from the heart, and there is NOTHING more priceless

This is a tough season for me. Most of my Vietnam related PTSD revolves around incidents from November to the first week of February, so I usually get pensive this time of year, thoughtful if not depressed...

This year, well it is a bit tougher. This will be my first Christmas without both my parents, Mom passed a couple years ago, and Dad passed last Jan 14th. The house really seems empty. We were a very close, tight knit family.

That is hard, but a "normal" part of life, if things go right, we DO outlive our parents, it is the way things are supposed to work...

And that is another reason I am having a tough time, my childhood, neighborhood friend, passed last week. She had no previous health issues, wasnt feeling well, so she made an appt and went to her Doctor's office... she was in the waiting room and died of a massive heart attack before they could do a thing... Her 77 year old mother is devastated, and talking to HER just adds to my heartbreak.

These things are all part of life. I can be very philosophical about it, but it doesn't seem to lessen the knot in my throat, or the empty feeling in my heart.

I keep reminding myself of the positive sides of things... I AM blessed, I have had life long friends, people who have been solid for me for 40 years and more... I still drink beer with some of the same guys I drank beer with in high school.... now, instead of talking about the girls we wanted to "date", we talk about grand kids.... and who we hope they WONT date....

I will be OK, and I want to thank all of you folks for being part of WHY I know I will be OK...

Happy Holidays Weedtrackers. Hug each other for me, OK? Love to you all!

Stanley, my condolences go out to you. I lost my pops over the summer and this has been the hardest week I've ever gone through, missing him and all. I was closer to my dad than anyone else in my family and I really miss him these days. I thought Thanksgiving was bad, but it's worse with XMAS. This thread has helped alot though. thanks for your uplifting post.

Best wishes Spacey and everyone and Merry Christmas.

Hey don't worry it will get better, I just lost my job and a few wks later my husband got laid off too. and to top it off we have to find a new place to live. Bad part is, that it is my husband relative that wants us to move out. I just had a baby so his frist x-mas is not so great, but my daugther understands. Keep your head up and let your wife know how much you love her, make her a romantic candle light dinner. She will understand. One thing I learn about a gift is having your spouse and you family with you for the holidays. Hope everthing turns out well.
Much Love and Happiness to you and your family. Merry x-mas
