So i decided to call up about 8 councilmen today to discuss the upcomming ordinance vote.. Each office pretty much went to voice mail. The last number i called was Greig Smith who serves the sfv. About a week ago, he was the first person i called about this issue..i have left at least 4 messages and an email. So he was the last one i called today...I was only able to speak to his secretary. I wanted to leave a message and i asked her why he hasn't returned my calls and email. She said he'll get back to me when he can. Then I ask her when is a good time i can call back..she paused and said (something along these lines) "He won't be responding to any people concerned about the mmj laws. But he will take your messages into consideration." I flat out told her he's being a politician and that is just BS. He won't take any calls because he doesn't want to change his mind. I then told her "so he will ignore the people who voted him in?" She couldn't respond..she just repeated herself saying he will take the calls into consideration. I continued to say how he should be support us and not his own agenda..The tone of her voice sounded very embarrassed. I then said, "do you want to end this conversation saying Councilman Greig Smith wants to ignore the people who voted him in?" She then hung up.


We don't need his kind making OUR decisions.

It's good that you called, don't get me wrong. That's awesome and I thank you.

But what you've just described is S.O.P. (standard operating procedure). I sincerely doubt you were even conversing with his secretary. It's usually low level staffers and interns who man the phones. And no politician is going to personally call you back. That's not what they do. The best you will get is a return call from a staffer. It sounds like you remained polite throughout the conversation; am I correct? Because not getting mad and maintaining control of your sense of decorum is critical when conversing with these people. They aren't required to relay your message and can put you down as holding the opposite opinion of the one you articulated. So it's best to remain polite at all times no matter how they treat you. Don't give'em a reason to write you off as some dumb stoner.

How can we get him recalled? I tried to e-mail Greg Smith, and he rewarded me by closing one of the best coops in Chatsworth. The LAPD raided a few others that were having hardship hearings. (Most of them were raided right before their hearings.

We need a better representative.

I called every councilman's office, and Greig (is it pronounced Greeg?) Smith's office was the only one that asked for my zip code.

I suspected that if I wasn't one of his constituents, either my opinion would not be counted, or Greeg Smith just wouldn't give a shit.

I believe this is the guy that decided they would proceed with a vote on the 4th Ordinance without a public hearing.

Let's make this his last term.
