Rep Power: 33730 | Its not about Medical Marijuana and having safe access at all in San Bernardino... It pure Bullshit Opposition Politics as usual... These Official are going to stall every inch of the way no matter what... The Board of Supervisors, which approved a 45-day moratorium June 23, will consider a proposal today to extend the moratorium to June 19, 2010. The moratorium is due to expire Friday. County planning staff needs more time to put together guidelines for regulating retail outlets that sell medical marijuana to patients, Julie Rynerson Rock, the county's land use services director, told the board. Planners are studying zoning and permit rules in other jurisdictions, she said. The ordinance, which will likely involve an amendment to the county's development code, must go before the planning commission for review before the board adopts it. The extension will provide more time to complete the review and come back with a final recommendation, Rynerson Rock said. She said she doesn't expect the review to take until June and hopes to have a proposal before the commission before the end of the year. The moratorium would expire if an ordinance is approved before the June 19 date. Ryan Michaels, director of the Inland Empire Patients Group, a Bloomington collective that opened a day before the board enacted its moratorium, said he hoped the county would act sooner. "It now appears if they're going to delay for another year, the process is going to slow down," he said. "In the meantime, seriously ill and dying patients go without because of a zoning issue." Michaels said he believes his collective is free to operate because it opened before the moratorium, although Rynerson Rock disagrees. The county, however, has not attempted to shut it down. A group called the Inland Valley Drug Free Coalition is lobbying supervisors through an e-mail campaign not to allow dispensaries to open shop in the county. The group says the county isn't obligated to allow marijuana to be sold just because it issues patient identification cards. Several Inland cities already have banned or enacted moratoriums against dispensaries, including Colton, Highland and Yucaipa. The moratorium will not affect the county's issuance of medical marijuana patient identification cards, which is scheduled to begin Aug. 14. The county agreed in June to begin providing the cards after it lost its three-year legal challenge to the state's medical marijuana law. Rep Power: 0 | Re: San Bernardino Stalling Again the moratorium was extended yesterday until 6/10 i attended the meeting, but not speak because it wouldn't have made a difference to the BOS, for the past month the Inland Valley Drug-Free Coalition activated an email campaign that bombarded the board with their silly anti-marijuana propaganda. what im curious to know is what is going to happen to the dispensary that is already operating in SB county? |

Rep Power: 42366 | Re: San Bernardino Stalling Again I sent the IVDFC the following, I will update this when/if I get a response. Not hoping for much. I disagree with your opinion about medical marijuana and feel that your position threatens the lives and quality of life for many patients. Your organization has chosen to target marijuana when most prescription drugs are far more dangerous, especially when used long-term. Medical marijuana shows promise in treating cancer, chronic pain, heroin addiction, alcohol addiction, Alzheimer's. Other countries have allowed research using marijuana, while the US continues to deny science access to marijuana. I blame organizations like yours for the pain and suffering of millions of Americans. Marijuana is not dangerous, addictive, or a gateway drug. The misinformation your organization pushes out causes real damages. What if you had to drive 60+ miles to get your prescription for Vicodin filled? What if you were disabled and that 60+ mile trip was nearly impossible? Medical Marijuana is legal in California. It has been for over 13 years, please stop hurting patients. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: San Bernardino Stalling Again next week San Bernardino is supposed to start issuing id cards. are there any dr.'s, clinics, or wellness centers in SB county that provide scripts for mmj? are patients in SB county going to have to continue to get scripts/renewals out of the area or are dr's and clinics going to catch on and start opening (or already opened and i just don't know about them yet) in SB county? I'm up for renewal soon and would be ecstatic to not have to leave SB...its so pretty here! j/k its ugly and gross lol! |

They protect their political status and will sway whichever way the wind blows. They and others are also waiting to see what LA is going to do. It would only take a couple days to fashion a set of regulations governing co-ops. There must be pressure put on to be aware of the increase in revenues that would come from additional businesses opening, therefore paying rents, employing, paying taxes etc. Showing a correlation of increasing public services therefore making the communities safer. |
