The Constitution WAS SET UP TO BE AMENDED AS WE WENT ALONG!!!!! The requirements ARE SPELLED OUT FOR ALL TO SEE!!!! This is evolution. The Original Americans did not see themselves as Gods, and they rightfully set up our Government with Checks and Balances so the country would EVOLVE! Hey, were not perfect, but we are good. We don't need a dipshit like Ron Paul to RUIN everything that Americans have fought for for centurys! The Constitution IS A WHOLE PIECE OF WORK, NOT FUCKING CLIFF NOTES OR MULTIPLE CHOICE!

This is why I am in favor of communism. We should have a government that tells us when to eat, shit and sleep and then maybe just maybe everyone would not get their panties in a bunch cause no one would be allowed to think on their own.

If you believe the FEDS need to rule every aspect of your life: then how do you justify Californias right to decide that medical marijuana is in fact medicine when the FDA says it is just an illegal drug? Are you picking and choosing? Your possition sounds hypocritical...

Ron Paul is not a hypocritical but is consistant in his views and openly admits that some sacrifices are needed because some federal intervention has had some possitive results. But, when you look at the big picture BUSH has clearly demonstrated that the "Checks and Balances" can be manipulated. The FEDS have much more power than was ever intended! We are getting the short end of the stick! What do you have left to lose? Our current policies offer no benefit to you and me!

All Ron Paul says is: If a state votes to make a drug legal what right do the FEDS have to step in and overide that? The FEDS are corrupt just look at the FDA lies about medical marijuana. While medical marijuana is the case right now, why do you draw the line at marijuana because that's what you like to use? Liberty can't be determined by ones opinion.
Why don't you and your gun try creeping in my house at night.I will bury a saw blade in your chest. And I dont have to worrie about my three year old daughter shooting her self with a sawblade.

Re: Rep. Ron Paul meets a medical marijuana patient--Nov. 9 2007

Quote:
The Worldwide Gun Control Movement
by Ron Paul June 27, 2006
The United Nations is holding a conference beginning this week in New York that ironically coincides with our national 4th of July holiday. It’s ironic because those attending the conference want to do away with one of our most fundamental constitutional freedoms – the right to bear arms.

The stated goal of the conference is to eliminate trading in small arms, but the real goal is to advance a worldwide gun control movement that ultimately supercedes national laws, including our own 2nd Amendment. Many UN observers believe the conference will set the stage in coming years for an international gun control treaty.

Fortunately, U.S. gun owners have responded with an avalanche of letters to the American delegation to the conference, asking that none of our tax dollars be used to further UN anti-gun proposals. But we cannot discount the growing power of international law, whether through the UN, the World Trade Organization, or the NAFTA and CAFTA treaties. Gun rights advocates must understand that the forces behind globalism are hostile toward our Constitution and national sovereignty in general. Our 2nd Amendment means nothing to UN officials.

Domestically, the gun control movement has lost momentum in recent years. The Democratic Party has been conspicuously silent on the issue in recent elections because they know it’s a political loser. In the midst of declining public support for new gun laws, more and more states have adopted concealed-carry programs. The September 11th terrorist attacks and last summer’s hurricanes only made matters worse for gun control proponents, as millions of Americans were starkly reminded that we cannot rely on government to protect us from criminals.

So it makes sense that perhaps the biggest threat to gun rights in America today comes not from domestic lawmakers, but from abroad.

For more than a decade the United Nations has waged a campaign to undermine Second Amendment rights in America. UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has called on members of the Security Council to address the “easy availability” of small arms and light weapons, by which he means all privately owned firearms. In response, the Security Council released a report calling for a comprehensive program of worldwide gun control, a report that admonishes the U.S. and praises the restrictive gun laws of Red China and France!

It’s no surprise that UN officials dislike what they view as our gun culture. After all, these are the people who placed a huge anti-gun statue on American soil at UN headquarters in New York. The statue depicts a pistol with the barrel tied into a knot, a not-too-subtle message aimed squarely at the U.S.

They believe in global government, and armed people could stand in the way of their goals. They certainly don’t care about our Constitution or the Second Amendment. But the conflict between the UN position on private ownership of firearms and our Second Amendment cannot be reconciled. How can we as a nation justify our membership in an organization that is actively hostile to one of our most fundamental constitutional rights? What if the UN decided that free speech was too inflammatory and should be restricted? Would we discard the

First Amendment to comply with the UN agenda?

The UN claims to serve human freedom and dignity, but gun control often serves as a gateway to tyranny. Tyrants from Hitler to Mao to Stalin have sought to disarm their own citizens, for the simple reason that unarmed people are easier to control. Our Founders, having just expelled the British army, knew that the right to bear arms serves as the guardian of every other right. This is the principle so often ignored by both sides in the gun control debate. Only armed citizens can resist tyrannical government.

I am not concerned with homicide rates. People kill not guns.

The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed!!! No Martial Law!

The day they take our guns away is the day we completely lose our country!!!

Ron Paul on Drugs

Republican Representative (TX-14)

Legalize industrial hemp

Paul believes in the legalization of industrial hemp. Paul supported HR 3037 to amend the Controlled Substances Act to exclude industrial hemp from the definition of marijuana. This bill would have given the states the power to regulate farming of hemp. The measure would be a first since the national prohibition of industrial hemp farming in the United States. He favors the legalization of marijuana.

Voted NO on military border patrols to battle drugs & terrorism.

Amendment to set up a task force on counter-terrorism and drug interdiction and allow military personnel to help patrol U.S. borders.
Bill HR 2586 ; vote number 2001-356 on Sep 25, 2001

Voted NO on subjecting federal employees to random drug tests.

Drug Demand Reduction Act: Vote on an amendment to require that anyone hired by the Federal Government is subject to random, unannounced drug testing.
Reference: Amendment by Taylor, D-MS; bill by Portman, R-OH.; Bill HR 4550 ; vote number 1998-443 on Sep 16, 1998

War on Drugs has abused Bill of Rights .

Paul adopted the Republican Liberty Caucus Position Statement:
  • As adopted by the General Membership of the Republican Liberty Caucus at its Biannual Meeting held December 8, 2000.
  • WHEREAS libertarian Republicans believe in limited government, individual freedom and personal responsibility;
  • WHEREAS we believe that government has no money nor power not derived from the consent of the people;
  • WHEREAS we believe that people have the right to keep the fruits of their labor; and
  • WHEREAS we believe in upholding the US Constitution as the supreme law of the land;
  1. BE IT RESOLVED that the Republican Liberty Caucus endorses the following [among its] principles:
  2. While recognizing the harm that drug abuse causes society, we also recognize that government drug policy has been ineffective and has led to frightening abuses of the Bill of Rights which could affect the personal freedom of any American. We, therefore, support alternatives to the War on Drugs.
  3. Per the tenth amendment to the US Constitution, matters such as drugs should be handled at the state or personal level.
  4. All laws which give license to violate the Bill of Rights should be repealed.

Legalize medical marijuana.

Paul sponsored the States' Rights to Medical Marijuana Act:
  • Title: To provide for the medical use of marijuana in accordance with the laws of the various States. Summary: Transfers marijuana from schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act to schedule II of such Act. Declares that, in a State in which marijuana may be prescribed or recommended by a physician for medical use under applicable State law, no provision of the Controlled Substances Act shall prohibit or otherwise restrict:
  • the prescription or recommendation of marijuana by a physician for medical use;
  • an individual from obtaining and using marijuana from a physician's prescription or recommendation of marijuana for medical use; or
  • a pharmacy from obtaining and holding marijuana for the prescription or recommendation of marijuana by a physician for medical use under applicable State law.
  • Prohibits any provision of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act from prohibiting or restricting a State entity from producing or distributing marijuana for the purpose of its distribution for prescription or recommendation by a physician in a State in which marijuana may be prescribed by a physician for medical use.

Rated A by VOTE-HEMP, indicating a pro-hemp voting record.

Paul scores A by VOTE-HEMP on pro-hemp legalization policies

VOTE HEMP is a non-profit organization dedicated to the acceptance of and free market for Industrial Hemp. Industrial Hemp is non-psychoactive low THC varieties of the cannabis sativa plant. Currently, it is illegal for U.S. farmers to grow Industrial Hemp because it is improperly classified as a "drug" under the Controlled Substances Act. Since changes in law require shifts in thinking and this requires education in the facts, our primary goal is the education of legislators and regulators, farmers and businesses, students and other concerned citizens. Re: Rep. Ron Paul meets a medical marijuana patient--Nov. 9 2007

Introduction

America became the greatest, most prosperous nation in human history through low taxes, limited government, personal freedom and a belief in sound money. We need to return to these principles so our economy can thrive again. When enacted, my plan will provide both short-term stimulus and lay the groundwork for long-term prosperity.
Other candidates talk a lot about stimulus packages, but my record stands alone. I have fought for these measures for years as a member of Congress and will make them a top priority as president.

Ron Paul, a 10-term Republican congressman from Texas's 14th District, is currently the ranking member of the House Financial Services Committee's Subcommittee on Domestic and International Monetary Policy, Trade, and Technology. He has been named "Taxpayers' Best Friend" for 10 consecutive years by the National Taxpayers' Union. Ron Paul is also the author of several books on monetary policy and economics.

The Four-Point Plan
  1. Tax Reform: Reduce the tax burden and eliminate taxes that punish investment and savings, including job-killing corporate taxes.
  2. Spending Reform: Eliminate wasteful spending. Reduce overseas commitments. Freeze all non-defense, non-entitlement spending at current levels.
  3. Monetary Policy Reform: Expand openness with the Federal Reserve and require the Fed to televise its meetings. Return value to our money.
  4. Regulatory Reform: Repeal Sarbanes/Oxley regulations that push companies to seek capital outside of US markets. Stop restricting community banks from fostering local economic growth.

1. Tax Reform
  • Eliminate Taxes on Dividends and Savings. The basis of capitalism is savings, and Americans who do so should be rewarded.
    • Pass HJ Res. 23 to encourage savings over consumption.
  • Repeal the Death Tax. Attacking small businesses and breaking up family farms smothers growth and kills jobs.
    • Pass H.R. 2734 to make the Bush tax cuts permanent.
  • Cut Taxes for Working Seniors. Grandmothers and grandfathers working to make ends meet should keep all the fruits of their labor.
    • Pass H.R. 191 to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the inclusion in gross income of Social Security benefits.
  • Eliminate Taxes on Social Security Benefits. That money belongs to seniors, not the government. They paid into the system for a lifetime, and they should be free to spend every penny as they see fit.
    • Pass H.R. 192 to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the 1993 increase in taxes on Social Security benefits.
  • Accelerate Depreciation on Investment. We need to help companies grow and create jobs.
    • Pass H.R. 4995 and amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to reduce corporate marginal income tax rates.
  • Eliminate Taxes on Capital Gains. Investment should be embraced and rewarded.
    • Pass H.J. Res 23 (The “Liberty Amendment”), proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States relative to abolishing personal income, estate, and gift taxes and prohibiting the United States Government from engaging in business in competition with its citizens.
  • Eliminate Taxes on Tips. The single parents and working students who earn their income chiefly through tips deserve to keep all of their money. This tax on "estimated income" is unfair and should be ended.
    • Pass H.R. 3664 to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide that tips shall not be subject to income or employment taxes.
  • Support Mortgage Cancelation Relief Act. Working families who lost their homes should not be punished a second time with a big IRS bill.
    • Pass H.R. 1876 to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to exclude from gross income of individual taxpayers discharges of indebtedness attributable to certain forgiven residential mortgage obligations.
2. Spending Reform
  • Reduce Overseas Military Commitments. Our bases and troops should be on our soil.
    • It's time to stop subsidizing our trading partners in Europe, Japan and South Korea.
  • Freeze Non-Defense, Non-Entitlement Spending at Current Levels
    • I vote against all bloated, pork laden spending bills and will veto them as president.
3. Monetary Policy Reform
  • Televise Federal Open Market Committee Meetings. An institution as powerful as the Federal Reserve deserves full public scrutiny.
  • Expand Transparency and Accountability at the Federal Reserve
    • Pass H.R. 2754 to require the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System to continue to make available to the public on a weekly basis information on the measure of the M3 monetary aggregate and its components.
  • Return Value to Our Money. Legalize gold and silver as a competing currency.
    • Level the long-term boom and bust business cycle by passing H.R. 4683, which would repeal provisions of the federal criminal code relating to issuing coins of gold, silver, or other metal for use as current money and making or possessing likenesses of such coins.
4. Regulatory Reform
  • Repeal Sarbanes/Oxley. It has seriously wounded our capital markets and helped make the UK the financial center at our expense.
    • Ending these misguided regulations would bring jobs flooding back to the United States
    • Pass H.R. 1049 to reform Sarbanes-Oxley and reduce the burden it places on small businesses.
  • Repeal or Remove Costly and Unnecessary Federal Regulations. Neighbors know best how to help their neighbors.
    • We need to make it easier for community banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions to better serve their communities and to help people in these communities get access to credit and capital.
    • Pass H.R. 1869 to enhance the ability of community banks to foster economic growth and serve their communities, boost small businesses, increase individual savings, and for other purposes.

Re: Rep. Ron Paul meets a medical marijuana patient--Nov. 9 2007

Hey Bandito!! How about posting a You Tube video about Ron Pauls Congressional career!! He has introduced about 350 Bills in his career in the House, and 345 of them never made it out of commitee! The other ones ALL LOST! He has accomplished exactly nothing in Congress, and every indication is that his Presidency would be the same. If you can't work with your peers effectively, why would it be any different if he got elected?

We have had a Rougue President now for 8 years. Now you Paul people want to elect another Lone Ranger???

Re: Rep. Ron Paul meets a medical marijuana patient--Nov. 9 2007

Hey Canna, is it considered a positive to be compared to the man who, while as Governor of California, stated that catsup should be considered a vegetable for school lunches?

Which brings me to another point. Ron Paul wants to turn over everything to the States. Alot of idiots are in State Government, the Feds have no monopoly on that. How does handing a shit bag over to a bunch of idiots bring us Freedom???

Thats a sad reality...
I think that was right on Spot, what you said. As many government official starts getting more support from vaious big Corporations, they start changing their opinions gradually to what fits in his campaign. It usually end up being what the BIG corporations who control the market on any type of business/service/goods, and the corporation make it known that they don't want competition from little shops. In our case, we have the Pharmaceutical companies with their Addictive/Harmful/Expensive medication working with Insurance companies for their cuts VERSUS "MMJ" which is supported by small groups here and there. It's pretty disappointing to see that, but it's how the situation really is here.
I just hope by the time it comes to vote, all the patients would get off their and do their part. YOu know I will! Come on fellow WTers! Rise up and let ur voices be heard! go out there and VOTE, every single one counts!

Re: Rep. Ron Paul meets a medical marijuana patient--Nov. 9 2007

Super Tuesday and Beyond

February 4th, 2008 by Dan McCarthy

This e-mail from assistant campaign manager Debbie Hopper, which went out tonight to Ron Paul activists in states with Super Tuesday primaries or caucuses, puts the long fight for the Republican nomination in perspective. Synopsis: it’s not over in one day, not even on Super Tuesday, and even in those states where primaries or the first round of caucuses have already been held, there is still much to be won — including, all importantly, the national delegates who will actually choose the Republican nominee. The fight is just getting under way, and with your ceaseless support as donors and Precinct Leaders, Ron Paul will go the distance.
This is where all your work for Ron Paul pays off.
Tomorrow is Super Tuesday — 21 states, including yours, will be voting. All of the Ron Paul activism in your state — the precinct walking, ballot-access work, publicity, and volunteering — has been leading up to this. Now we need to finish the job with a full-force get-out-the-vote effort.
Go to the polls and vote as early as possible tomorrow. Wear a sticker to show your support for Ron Paul. Take some literature and, if you have time — make time if possible — help pass out literature outside the polls.
Call your friends and family and other Ron Paul supporters. Urge them to vote for Ron Paul, and to do it as early as they can. You’ll be receiving calls as well, including automated calls from Dr. Paul and calls from Precinct Leaders who have identified you as a Ron Paul voter. Every vote counts — because every vote for Dr. Paul is a vote for the Constitution and against unlimited government intervention at home and abroad.
Tomorrow is a critical battle in a fight that will continue far beyond Feb. 5. We’re poised to do very well in states with caucuses: already Dr. Paul has won a string of second-place finishes in the early caucus states of Nevada, Louisiana (where the final numbers might be even better, once the many election irregularities are ironed out), and now Maine, where we finished a close second to Mitt Romney in number of delegates run. The delegates, not the results of the presidential preference straw polls are what counts.
That’s true in primary states, too. The primary itself may determine how delegates must vote in the first rounds of voting at the Republican National Convention. But national delegates are not chosen tomorrow: they’re chosen by a series of conventions at the congressional district and state level. These delegates may be “bound” to vote for the winner of the state primary in the first rounds of voting at the Republican National Convention-but they are not necessarily “owned” by the primary winner. Ron Paul does not have to finish first to get our delegates into the congressional district and state conventions-and then into the Republican National Convention.
There are two battles to be fought in every primary state. The first is to win the primary. The second is to win the delegates. Since the delegates are only bound to the primary results in the early rounds of voting at the Republican National Convention, in a brokered convention with several rounds of voting, Ron Paul delegates will be free to vote for — of course — Ron Paul.
Our goal tomorrow is to win every vote we possibly can for Ron Paul. Not a single one is wasted, because a vote for Ron Paul is a rejection of the path America has been on — the path toward empire and bankruptcy — and an affirmation of the course set by our nation’s Founders. We have a very good shot at the top slots in the caucus states, and even if Ron Paul doesn’t finish first in the winner-take-all primaries tomorrow, he can still win national delegates from those states later.
This fight won’t be won, or lost, in a day — but it begins in earnest tomorrow. What Ron Paul asks of you is to get out and vote, and make sure that other Ron Paul supporters in your state do the same. Together, we can take this Republic back.
