Talking Call from Zine's Office!

Hey all, so ya may be aware that yours truly called Zine's office on Wends. Today I received a return call and spoke with a staff member.

She told me that the media's been "distorting" Zine's position on the MMJ issue. That's total bullshit, but c'est la. Anyways she said that the draft regulations are just that- drafts. They're not the finished product. She also stated unequivocally that Zine doesn't want to end the storefront model. He just wants to make sure that over the counter sales are not for profit.

She also said that his position on edibles is the same. He's not against them entirely, he just doesn't want them to be sold for a profit. Then she said he wants to implement regulations that everyone can live with and that they're gonna vote on this in two weeks probably.

So I'm encouraged, hope y'all are too! Looks like our pressure's working!!!!!!!! Keep the faith folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good job VDC! Some prominent members of our movement told me yesterday that Zine was OK. I have my doubts but am now heartened. This plus the small personal note I got back from Reyes is at least a glimmer of hope. Keep it up people, see, it's working!

I am glad that at least some of your Council Members are listening. Now you know Zine was going to call back the cutie holding that sign. Glad to hear his subordinates are at least proving they know what the issues are. I suspect by now some of those council members know better than to ignore BB.

Keep up the good work.

Voodoo Chile with the Lapis Lazuli shoes, thank you for your amazing dedication to our cause and activism!

You are one special lady.

I've suggested that the twenty-first be named the Century of Women. Women have the wisdom and strength to lead society in the direction of good, of hope and of peace. In expanding his own nonviolence movement, Gandhi greatly relied on women. He said it is women who can teach pacific learning to a world that, while engaged in hostilities, nonetheless thirsts for the sweet dew of peace.

Re: Call from Zine's Office!

called trutanichs office today and voiced my displeasure with his impending ordinance and current raids.

my district has no rep but i was directed to the reps in my adjacent areas.

i called both.

one seemingly attempted to rush me off the phone, but im not easily bullied.

i made him listen to my point.

the other actually took my number and said the the rep or one of his assistants would contact me so that i could give the same 10 minute speech that i gave the previous two. we will see if they call.

personally i dont think that mmj should be non profit. if it is to be taxed then profit should follow.

all of the other drug companies make a profit...the maker of demoral made tons of money off of my grandfathers addiction....making money is the american way...we are capitalits....

however at this point i am trying to support measures and people that will further the legimitazation of said industry. i personally want to industrial hemp in the country from sea to shining sea.

i go with the flow if you will to a point....

but i do personally think it is absurd that mmj related business has to be non profit, when all of the other drug makers make money, as does their outlets like walgreens and cvs....

jmho...

i will check them out before voting and make sure i know where they stand on not just this but some other issues i have with the city as well....

on a side note who do you like? (just curious)

my district will not have a rep at the vote...i can provide the numbers of the adjacent areas who will....i was instructed by a person in my district to contact both of them being that i technically am right in the middle of the two....my district is oddly shaped if you will.

thank you for the info...i will be sure to vote when the time comes.

i am a firm believer in voting...wether you think it works or not....wether you think its fixed or not....wether you think it matters or not....

the way i see it people die daily around the world for the right to a democratic process....they fight to have what we have here in this country....

i think the best thing obama did so far was that he got young people to vote....

when i used to work the polls where i grew up the mean age of voters was 55...so what does that tell you about what gets passed, and who pays attention to things... i wish more people voted...even if voting against those things i support...voting is privildge and what makes this country and our system so great...

Re: Call from Zine's Office!

I'm thinking Krekorian. I've already expressed my concerns to a campaign worker of his who came to my door. The worker said Krekorian supports mmj if regulated.

I guess we better get the candidates themselves on record as to their views.

I fixed the Krekorian link, btw.

ps I'm also interested in stopping the in-fill development in the valley that overcrowds our neighborhoods.

called their office spoke to a rep emailed the other they dont have a number.

paul seems to have a similar view to mine. i will follow him to learn more of his specifics....

his rep also made it sound as though he would likely vote against the trutanich bill... for much the same reasons i disagree with it.....

he seems to big on community involvment....i like that.... who knows maybe i will become more involved than just voting.....we shall see....

i would like to add that his rep alludded to the fact that while he supports mmj there needs to be some (not obnoxious like trusbill) zoning implemented. not near schools, perhaps the same zoning restrictions put on liqour stores....he also suggested that he supports doing the regulation with the mmj community and its reps not in spite of it.... i like that.

I LOVE THE WOMEN IN THE MOVEMENT. Without ya'll what would a poor boy do? but seriously good job VooDoo.
Not for profit what does that mean? Vendors need rent money and cost of living. At some point the world wil change. Profit is for an effort. I would be much happier if they would rephrase the whole thing. Not for making people rich. But if you bake, grow or even design oils and such you should be rewarded for the effort and knowledge. If all jobs were done not for profit no one would be creative and work for a better life.

OT. NOT-For-Profit though...

http://www.kfiam640.com/pages/jk_sho...rticle=6199520

A Napa nurse raked in more than $700,000 in overtime over five years, according to a new audit that highlights how a small number of California state workers pull down "significant" amounts of pay for working more than 40 hours per week.

The report by the Bureau of State Audits also raises concerns that excessive overtime at the departments of Mental Health and Developmental Services could compromise the well-being of staff and patients.

The two departments had some of the biggest individual overtime outlays in state government. A combined 103 employees earned more than $150,000 in overtime, accounting for at least half of their total earnings from 2003 through 2008…

My response from Councilperson Bill Rosendahl

Here is the first response to my emails to the city council:

Hello there and thank you for reaching out to the office of
Councilmember Bill Rosendahl. The Councilmember passed your message to
me and requested that I reply on his behalf relative to your concerns
raised.

That being said, as you may or may not know, the Councilmember is
extremely supportive of a patients right to have access to medical
marijuana. However, he is also concerned for the overall health and
safety of the operators of dispensaries, our patients, our community and
the various city entities needing to be involved as the City works to
formulate an ordinance that will protect all parties. With that in
mind, know that the Councilmember will work with his Council colleagues
to formulate and ordinance that will accomplish all of the above without
compromising the overall safety and welfare of all involved.

Thank you again for reaching out to our office and know that you can
reach to me with any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Arturo Piña

OMG, what does this even mean? It's so vague. "Health and safety" can mean anything.

Re: Call from Zine's Office!

No offense, but vagueness is nothing new and it's nothing to panic over. That's obviously a form letter type response. I'm sure it was automatically generated.

This is how it works folks. Staffers comb through constituent mail, seperate it by issue, and tally it up. Most of the time, they send a form letter response like the one posted above. Occassionaly, you'll get a more personal response like the one I got. C'est la.

KEEP WRITING, CALLING, and E-MAILING PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The more we contact them, the better!!!!!!!!!!!!

So we shouldn't bother contacting him? What exactly is your point?

Cool Re: Call from Zine's Office!

I wrote to my District 6 Councilman yesterday! I hope to hear back from them early next week.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE we need EVERYONE to just take 5 minutes out of your day and write a quick email or make a quick phone call to your council member and voice your displeasure with the upcoming MMJ regulations vote.

We have a voice, people! Let's use it!!!!!
