Would you sign an initiative petition to legalize marijuana?

Would you sign an initiative petition to legalize marijuana?

Would you sign an initiative petition to tax and regulate marijuana like alcohol within your city?

Would you sign an initiative petition to authorize the use of medical marijuana within your city?

Would you sign an initiative petition to make marijuana use by consenting adults the lowest police priority within your city?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, and are a resident of Hailey, Ketchum, or Sun Valley, then we want to hear from you!

Many of you may remember that The Liberty Lobby of Idaho tried to get such initiatives on the ballot back in 2004, but were prevented when the cities decided to break the law and reject the petitions. After over two years of hard fought litigation, we triumphed in the Idaho Supreme Court.

See http://www.isc.idaho.gov/opinions/ryan9.pdf for the Court’s opinion, which guarantees the right of all Idaho citizens to place whatever measure they wish on the ballot for the public’s consideration.

Despite the crippling financial burden caused by the litigation, the Liberty Lobby is still committed to having the residents of Ketchum, Hailey, and Sun Valley vote on these important questions of public policy.

In order to run a successful but frugal campaign, we plan to use some non-traditional signature gathering strategies. Namely, e-mail.

If you would like to support this campaign and make your voice heard by signing one of the petitions, then we request that you contact by email to let us know. We’ll get your address and phone number, and coordinate the best time and place to meet you to collect your signature.

By doing it this way, we can save money by vastly streamlining the signature gathering portion of the campaign. We’re also making it as convenient as possible for you to sign the petition by having us come to you, at the time that works best for you. No more getting ambushed outside the mall. Promise.

In certain circumstances, we may be able to mail or email you an actual copy of the petition that you can sign and mail back.

The deadline is fast approaching. In order to have the initiatives on the November ballot, the petitions have to be completed by September 21. So please email us ASAP!

Finally, if you’d like to donate to the campaign, financial support is welcome. So are office supplies, product donations, gift certificates, or any item that we could include in a fundraising auction. Thanks in advance!

Red face Re: Would you sign an initiative petition to legalize marijuana?

I was wondering if anybody could send me 1,000 copies of this petition, and maybe start a little movement in SCV.

jakeolas says..It's not much, but it's fun.

If you are at all serious, then print a 1,000 for yourself. Printing costs $. Or better yet make a significant donation to the campaign that is already going on up in Idaho and maybe they will help you get a 1,000 of those petitions. Believe it or not, it's harder to get money outside of CA for MJ movement activities.

I'd be down to stand outside the local wal-mart and work it.

Don't think that will go over to well with LawMart.

They don't have to like it, they just can't treat anybody unconstitutionally. If it is open to the general public they essentially must allow for first amendment activities. Especially if they have ever allowed other groups access for similar activities, ie the United Way, The Starvation Army, The Boy Scouts, etc.
