Rep Power: 29153 | Item 18 City Council Agenda 11/18/09 NOT FUNNY!!! Some horrible individual submitted this to the City Clerk, and it now appears on the agenda for tomorrow (Wednesday 11/18/09) City Council: http://clkrep.lacity.org/onlinedocs/...c_11-18-09.pdf NOT FUNNY!!! Here it is cut and paste: November 17, 2009 Dear Honorable Los Angeles City Council Members, I'm Michael Larsen from Angelenos for Reasonable Marijuana Regulation, but today (eventhough Iam not one) I'd like to speak to you on behalf of the Drug Dealers of Los Angeles. And on their behalf, I'd like to congratulate you and thank you. Thank you for your compassion. Without your progressive policies and amazingly brave approach, we would not be able to do the work that we do and contribute so much to financial and cultural character of this great City. Who would have thought that the City Council of Los Angeles would not only encourage and facilitate our enterprise, but to also diligently protects us from the unfair interference of local and federal law enforcement? We can't thank you enough. We are seeing an incredible surge in sales of weed in this city, our retail outlets continue to grow and flourish -(we are opening a new outlet in Eagle Rock as I write!), and we could not have done it without you, especially CM Reyes. Thank you. With your forward thinking stimulus programof we have been unfettered by draconian permits, inspections, fees, taxes, audits, hearings, pesky Neighborhood Councils, unfettered by all the bureaucratic nightmares that hinder other businesses in the City. We have been, and it looks like we will continue to be, free to attend to the business that we do best: selling quality bud and making mad profits. Our customer base has expanded exponentially and is getting younger thanks to the access and legitimatcy you have given us. We don't take this special status that you have given us lightly. We know how important it is to you and to the people of this great city that we provide' affordable, convenient weed and edibles to discriminating and compassionate Angelenos. Thanks to your efforts everyone accross the country and indeed througout the world knows that LA is the place to come to buy, sell, grow, eat and smoke pot without any governmental interference whatsoever. Now with your clear endorsement and saction at yesterday's joint committee meeting, we can go on to create an even more successful business in Los Angeles (non-profit of course, wink wink) thereby solving the City's budget woes, curing most medical ailments, and keeping everyone super high and happy! Thanks to to all of your hard work, LA IS and hopefully will continue TO BE The Marijuana Mecca of America! (We are already crafting and will work closely with the City on a billion dollar advertising campaign to get the word out and give L.A. the boost it needs!) Remember, stay uniformed and confused and you'll do great! Thank you again. Michael Larsen Angelenos for Reasonable Marijuana Regulation |

Rep Power: 1568 | Re: Item 18 City Council Agenda 11/18/09 NOT FUNNY!!! I also fail to see the humor in this. What I witnessed yesterday at city council with the neighborhood council reps was very disappointing. After an hour of one minute testimonials and stories from patients and solid factual reasoning by advocates these people took their minute of infamy to tell the city council to just "go ahead and pass something already." Nevermind the patients, compassion, or their fellow citizens, the lawsuits and the cost to the city...no, just protect our property values and our 22 yr old children from the evil marijuana people. They have even started that new organization that this guy was speaking for with the very "Bush Administration slight of hand" name of, "Angelenos for Reasonable Marijuana Regulation", and yet they did not have one suggestion or amendment nor did they utter a syllable to enlighten anyone on what they thought REASONABLE MARIJUANA REGULATION is!!! And this f'd up letter that was sent to the council has not one iota of compassion for patients in this city. It lumps us all together and treats us like criminals. I was disgusted yesterday by their ignorant and selfish comments and can see today by that letter that they are nothing more than spoiled children who are not getting the attention they want. Shame on them. After saying all that, I do believe strongly that education is the best weapon against the outrage of the neighborhoods. I know that advocates have been attending neighborhood council meetings (sometimes very uncomfortably) in an effort to reach out and to educate communities with facts and not hearsay and myths. This is a great effort and will one day bear the delicious fruit of harmony and understanding between patients and neighborhoods. I think it is beneficial (if painful) for ALL medical marijuana advocates to attend their neighborhood council meetings. This is where we can make a difference, one person at a time. I'm talking about patients. Go tell you stories, go meet your neighbors, go debunk the myth that we're all 18 yr olds who are ingnored by our parents. Talk to the neighborhood councils and they will learn that WE are not the ones to fear and that we fear the same things they do...crime in our community, litter and garbage in our faces, people scamming the system...WE don't like those things either. WE don't want to live in that kind of environment either. Let your neighbors know your just like them. You just use a different medicine to get through the day then they do. SO...yeah, I'm pissed at their attitude, but I'm determined to change it in a way that brings us together and doesn't split us further apart. I just had to rant about that letter and the way they behaved yesterday! They deserved the boos and jeers they got. So now I'm gonna cool down and go onto the next chapter.... see you all at City Council Wednesday morning. |

Rep Power: 190132 | Thanks for the heads up, CJK! Hmmm. Googled and found no record of any association called 'Angelinos...' but he is likely the same guy from the Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council in article: Judge rules L.A.'s ban on new medical marijuana dispensaries is invalid -- latimes.com Yes, he is if same name is an indication. Remember he spoke against us on Tuesday, name of fake group not withstanding. Meet the Council Michael Larsen Public Safety Director 323-376-5037 m.larsen@mac.com Yep. He's there alright. He's the Public Safety Director for Eagle Rock NC. Column 2, Row 4. Pic conveniently missing but will look out for him tomorrow. Note email and number is officially listed on NC website so IMO there should be no privacy issues if you want to tell him what you think! What should we tell him? They are against MMJ in Eagle Rock: Medical Marijuana Wanna be his FaceBook pal? http://www.facebook.com/pages/Larsen...4063598?v=info Be careful tomorrow. He's handy with a camera: http://larsenandtalbert.blogspot.com/ This is getting fun! Best, GB Last edited by Greenbud; 11-17-2009 at 05:27 PM.. |

Rep Power: 414834 | Re: Item 18 City Council Agenda 11/18/09 NOT FUNNY!!! Yeah I remember these people at the meeting. There were 10 of them, max. That letter was probably written by one of them. Maybe the first speaker for the pro side? He seemed pretty butt hurt that people dared to interrupt him. I think we outta go out of our way to make sure that Reyes especially know how much we support him and the rest of the council. It's a shame someone would write something so ridiculous, but we can't change what's been done. |

Obviously this letter was written by an individual or a group of ignorant (in a sense, un-educated or inexperienced) persons. I won't lie, growing up in my small town, I was taught everything negative related to drugs, alcohol, etc. Why was I not taught the difference between USE and ABUSE. Iin moving to LA, even before coming into a collective & talking with patients, I had an eye-opener. Education is key. |

NOT cool, even in jest. We must not resort to (even joking indirect) references to physical violence against those we disagree with. I *know* we're frustrated, but we are better than that. Think Gandhi. | |

Rep Power: 5495 | Re: Item 18 City Council Agenda 11/18/09 NOT FUNNY!!! Your an idiot. I gonna mail this to the FBI. Dude get a life man. I am pretty sure that everyone on here knows that you are a tool and any truth or validity never comes out of your mouth. I was at the city council meeting and I know what was said by both side. Your side was not represented very well. Would you agree? I agree there needs to be regulation. But not the cutthroat way that was being proposed. So once they get it right. Its been two years already and hundreds have popped up while supposed to be banned. So lets take a week or two and get the finishing touches on this thing so that we can all have safe access and the neighborhood, communities, and patients can reach a common ground. The clinics are serving alot of of patients that need MOST of them to stay open. We can follow what san fran, oakland and west hollywood has done and eliminate alot of these problems. So please show some compassion towards the folks that need it. Does anyone in your family suffer from a horrible illness that mmj could help them with. Because it has helped a few of mine and myself tremendously. I have seen first hand what the benifets are of cancer patients. So dont go off on a crazy rant that makes no sense and has no facts to it. Leave us alone we dont need you or want you get lost and dont bother showing up on wednesday because you are not gonna win. PEACE CPT HEFTY |
